Cool game! I like the Gameboy visuals and music a lot. I struggled a bit at first to understand how to get yenes, but once I figured it out I was able to build a big city. The only thing I didn’t quite understand is whether there’s actually a way to beat the game. I commented in the wrong Jam at first))

Developer

Thank you!

There isn't a goal, perhaps there isn't yet, or perhaps there won't ever be.

Yenes is a funny name, it's meant to be population, but I like the name for it.

Both jams are fine, it's both Godot and GB limitation, including the music (but not the sprite limits, probably).

An interesting puzzle game and a great entry for your first jam.

Well done for submitting👍👍👍

Developer(+1)

Well, not our first jam, but the first time joining GWJ. The questionnaire was oddly specific about that.

Ahh sorry my bad!

Either way, very enjoyable 👍

The controls were kinda confusing for me so i didn't manage to play properly, but also i don't have gamepad. I think maybe a tutorial would be good or something to explain controls better :) it looked fun tho and music was cute.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and thank you for enjoying the music.

There's a list in the description. You don't need a controller, there's a few layouts you can use. This was also for the GB jam, so the controls are no more than four directions and three (the fourth isn't used) buttons. I'm curious to hear what part of the controls you would want tutorialised here.

Interesting take on theme, reminds me of the original sim city - at least with your game I understood the results of building the different types :)

Liked the simple graphics but the music did start to wear on me after a while

Found the controls a little confusing as I was not using a gamepad and accidently reset my game when I filled up the screen... was making $80+ a day too

Thanks for submitting it was fun and nice work especially being your first

Developer

Yea, there's a different track playing once you have $20, I could probably expand on that a bit.

I'm not sure myself what parts of the controls exactly are confusing though.

Really nice effect of gameboy game! Love that you made possible to change theme, cool!

The game is interesting puzzle game, I tried few times to better understand and had some fun!

Great job and congratulations on your submission!

Developer

Thank you!

I'm not even sure what the best strat is, I thought I had something, but someone on the other jam had way more, so I'm just doing something wrong.

Took a sec to understand what the controls were but once figured out I enjoyed playing! I've been learning more about incremental games lately so this felt similar to that but turn-based twist which i found cool. Also appreciate the added feature of having multiple color themes as well as sizes for the game.

Developer(+1)

Just some QoL we picked up along the way and wanted to have.

Turn based does make it easier to manage it all, so it's easier to increment it as well.

It was nice seeing the city grow. Also has good use of planning with the additional effects of the blocks 👍👍. I also like the color pallete options

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

It's a big board, but satisfying to fill it up.

It was fun making the colors

This is a cool concept!  I really like the mechanic of trying to figure out optimal placement of things in games, so this is cool.

Developer

Thank!

There's plenty of space to experiment too

Hey there I  really want to check out your game but I cant seem to figure out how to start it?  Am I missing a hotkey?

Developer

No idea, the controls are listed below, so there's plenty of options.

For me it was 'Z' to start

Nice use of a theme, fun minigame riffing on the SimCity RCI system
