This was really cool!  I loved the idea of your friends having buffs that you can choose for them.  All the mutations felt very rewarding to take, though I wish there would be infinite scaling, however small, so level ups wouldn't be wasted at the end.

The VOD is linked below, and will be available for 60 days:

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!

There is one mutation with infinite scaling, the coin value multiplier. Once every other mutation is maxed, it will automatically be applied when you divide. However, it is not very obvious that this happens. I should added a strong visual indicator for this. You can see the change in the UI, but as others have mentioned, it is too small. Definitely something I will change in a future version, thanks!

This was a really cool idea! I love that your choices influence what happens to your bacteria and the gameplay of trying to avoid the mould and collect stuff was pretty fun. Like others said I thought you could make it even better by maybe giving the player more opportunity to fight back and spend coins. The concept was really fitting to the theme and it was really fun so congrats !

Really like the concept on this. For me, the UI is a little too small, kinda of hard to read actually. Besides that, it's a super interesting idea and the visuals are super nice too.
Congrats!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I agree, the player stats might be a bit be too small, I should have added a setting to adjust that!

Really nice idea, as for most of game expansion was taken as a mechanics here you took as a problem, very original !Good job :)

I’m always so happy when a game has good good gamepad support! This was a lot of fun, the hit sfx was so delightful! In terms of a jam, no complaints at all but it really makes me want some additional mechanic other than a high score too keep playing. Like others have noted, some way to attack back would be great. I totally can see this working as science-roguelite, where you get coins to fund anti-mold research to improve your survival on subsequent runs.

I also really like the idea of being able to fight back against the mold! I realized that during late stages of balancing, but could not come up with a satisfying solution in time. I was a bit stuck on wanting a highscore system, while keeping the coins in the game - I did not think of using them as another research/upgrade currency and using something else as highscore metric. I really like your idea of utilizing the coins for persistent upgrades, thank you! Maybe I'll implement this after the jam, changing the highscores to something time-based.

Really good idea, was hoping that as I ate I would grow and be able to eat other bigger bacteria.  Lot of fun, would consume food again.

Developer

Thank you for playing and happy that you enjoyed it! Getting physically bigger when consuming food would be an interesting mechanic indeed, especially how this would change the difficulty!

Thank you for playing and glad to hear that you enjoyed the hit sounds!

It was fun. I like how minimalistic and nice the visuals are. You feel a bit cramped in the end, I have to admit. I wish, like in a war, you could strike the mould back!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the feedback!

I agree, there should be a mechanic to fight back! Sadly, I realized this too late during the development process.
