took a long time to finish!! ended up playing over a few days to reach the end. i really loved the art and the vibe, and it's a fun concept!
i agree with all of shadowcommander's feedback, so i'll try and not repeat stuff
here's some suggestions:
- with the theme of expansion and the plants being trees it felt pretty sad that harvesting my trees chopped them down! i think it would have been neat if you could plant trees and repeatedly harvest them for fruit, both to feel more like you're building and expanding a forest, but also because that's not really how real fruit trees work
- i think with the addition of more sound the game could have felt so much more magical! the art is so beautiful and with some pretty sfx it would have been elevated to a new level
- it's a very grindy and long game for a jam, i try to play jam games to completion but most people only play games for 5-10 mins, so you should try and optimise for hooking people in within that time
- the crafting / fruit ux could have done with a bit more refining. maybe once you've harvested a tree, you can see in the shop what tree you need to produce that fruit. it was a bit hard remembering what tree makes what when i needed a specific thing. similarly, since it was all combining different fruit, the crafting felt a bit arbitrary. maybe it could be more like you use x fruit for a base, x fruit to add effects, etc
- finally, the profit margins felt a bit unclear and strange. could have done with a bit more time balancing and refining
i think there's potential here for a really great game, and you should totally keep working on it after the jam! great work!!!
