The video took a while to make but here it is:

Really fun and satisfying loop, love the art and growing kraken! Controls were a bit tricky though, I even clicked off the page a few times

Really takes me back to those early iPhone shark games! Great work

Great game! It was easy to play, and the instructions were clear. I enjoyed how simple it was (the art style, the kraken's animation, and the controls) because that made it more fun. At one point, I kept trying to eat the scuba divers but failed, and the level-up feedback encouraged me to keep trying again. I liked how the Kraken grew bigger the more I ate, but I think it would be more fun if there were more food options, like something that could slow me down, shrink me, poison me, or even give me a boost.

The game was fun to play, but it didn’t feel very challenging. It might be more exciting if the food moved faster as the levels went up, or if it became harder to catch in some way and having a negative impact on the Kraken

Simple, satisfying and surprisingly relaxing. I love the art and overall vibe of the game. Great job!

I very much enjoyed this. Eating the fishies, get bigger eat bigger. Such a good loop.

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!! Awesome job on the tentacles and how they grow as you grow larger and larger. I certainly was the monster. Those boats never stood a chance

Submitted(+1)

Got addicted right away. Couldnt wait to be able to destroy the boats!

Submitted(+1)

Really fun gameplay loop, it was very satisfying once I was able to destroy the ships. I really felt like the monster😈Lovely art, too! Really like the style you guys went with bc of how easy it is to differentiate objects. Well done!

Very cool! I kept catching and growing and catching and growing 🐙⛴️🐟🤿

Thanks so much for playing! glad you had a good time with it

Well done on getting this done for the 48h Category!

Simple, and easy to understand loop which you executed very well. A small frustration near the end was being blocked by small fish as I tried to get at the larger edibles up top. A way to possibly fix this would be to have each of the newly spawned tentacles be able to grab a separate object, allowing you to to grab a lot of things at once to eat. This could allow for a more satisfying sense of progression.

Other than that, the game runs and play well. I had fun playing!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I've seen a few comments reiterating your frustration, so if we develop this further I will definitely be addressing these issues.

technically you can let go of fish, and the tentacle remains at your cursor, which also allows you to grab multiple things at once. but it's not intuitive at all, nor did I explain it anywhere.

Very cool concept! I like the visual of growing larger and larger. I was a bit confused in the beginning why my tentacles couldn't reach very far, but it didn't take me long to figure that out 😅.

My main piece of feedback is that once I was a high enough level to eat the things near the top, I found it a bit frustrating having to dodge all the small fish to get to my target. I often ended up accidentally picking up the smaller fish that were closer to me rather than getting a shark or boat.

I saw it mentioned by someone else, I also think that holding the mouse down for the whole game is a bit tiring. Maybe having the tentacles track the mouse position and then you click and hold to catch something and drag it down would solve both of these points.

But really well done, especially for a 48 hour submission! 🙌

Thanks so much for the feedback and taking the time to give it a play!

others have had a similar sentiment to you about having to dodge the smaller fish.
it's technically not necessary, but it was not explained at all that you could let go of fish (and your tentacle will remain at your cursor)
and then you could also grab multiple things (per tentacle) by depressing and then pressing the lmb again. so if we develop it further I will definitely fix up the clarity and make the controls a little more intuitive.
I also see no reason (now that it's been mentioned to me) to not just have the tentacle track the cursor!

Hey! I’m planning to make a YouTube video where I play and give my honest thoughts on some of the SA Game Jam 2025 entries. Would you be okay if I included "Kraken Catch 'Em" in the video? I’ll of course credit you and link back here so others can check it out. 🙂

Developer

Hey Cedric! yeah absolutely, definitely pop the link in the comments when you do! would love to take a look at it

Hey OmenSoft, hope you're well, the video took a while to make. I ran into some issues on my end. But it's finally here:
