Cool idea that has a nice scaling difficulty!  It has a nice nostalgic feel to it too.  The moles felt a little oppressive, but I was eventually able to succeed in growing...however not picking.

The VOD is linked below, and will be available for 60 days:

Took a while but I grew a mushroom and was picked!

I like the way it gets harder as you get bigger.

Wish you could hold down the direction key and not need to push it each time.

But fun submission especially for your first, keep them coming

Difficult, but I managed to spawn a mushroom! I really like the sprite work and autumn feel. When getting hit by something, I feel like it would be cool for the specific tile of the mycelium that got hit to disappear, that way the player has some control of being able to "trim" the mycelium into a better shape. Overall, well done!

I like the idea of this one, I also like how expanding your mushroom is also a way of increasing difficulty due to it being easy to get caught. I did have some times where it felt like my hitbox was being hit when I wasn't visibly able to be hit but other than that, it was a cute little game and a nice take on the theme :)

Quite a difficult one, although the difficulty scaling with expansion is really clever! Also I am a big fan of the art, really expressive and elegant! Well done!

Pretty challenging one! I really like the concept, and the guy spilling the chemicals. The moles are my worst enemies; it was tough to evade them, especially once I grew bigger. I didn’t get the chance to see if there’s anything worth exploring in the bottom part of the map, but overall it’s a very original idea. Well done!

I really like the autumny vibes and the concept! As others already mentioned, the difficulty increase that coincides with mycelium-growth is amazing!

Quite difficult overall, I feel like the hit detection between the player and the moles could be a bit more forgiving.

Great game!

This was a delight. I really loved the cozy visuals and how the gameplay naturally escalates with your growth. The fact that danger increases as a result of your own expansion is a really elegant design choice. The simple core loop is made engaging by the depth variation, hazard variety, and surprisingly expressive creature movement.

I'll second what Haydoggo said, it's very elegant that it naturally gets harder to avoid hazards as you grow bigger. And despite being a simple game, there's enough variety with the different rain depths and multiple types of threats and changing player shape to keep it engaging.

I was silly and did at first think my goal was to feed the boars, and wasted a couple of mushrooms on that 😔 but I got it in the end.

My one gripe about the controls is I found myself wishing you could hold down a key instead of repeatedly tapping it in those moments when you want to quickly get from one side to the other, but that's a fairly minor thing.

Developer

We designed the movement when the game was easier and moles were not implemented yet, so we didn't have to move as much. But at this point I agree it would've been better holding a button instead of tapping to move. Thank you for you elaborate feedback! :)

Such a cute and cozy game - really loved the art style especially. The character designs were all very unique. Great job!

Took me quite some time, but in the end, I finally made it... I spawned one tiny mushroom!

Cozy autumn feel. Difficult game.

Love the moles swimming through the ground. I hope the boars appreciate the hard work I put into each of the mushrooms they stole. I also really like the way the mycelium growing natrually gives the game a good difficulty curve, fun game!

Developer

Thank you, the boars appreciate it for sure!

Very cute art!  It was satisfying to make the mycelium grow.  I found it pretty tricky with all the moles.   Well done!
