Theme

Squeak (Bird Team)

Correlation to theme
Squeak and his friends are hanging out and having fun, when suddenly someone raises the alarm!! A bear has appeared! Squeak and his friends try to fight off the bear, trading blows and sneaking in attacks while they can. Eventually the bear, exhausted, falls into a deep sleep, and Squeak emerges victorious, although he and his friends barely made it out alive. I liked your narrative way of composing it, makes it surprising in every change you are making in the track. I think the drums could have used more movement to enhance even more the fighting theme of what you were looking for, and the mixing could get a little more polish.

Great job overall, keep going and congrats on it being your first composition!!!

Woohoo, great first composition! You have a great sense of telling a story through music and that’s what we’re all here trying to do. I was able to follow along and I could clearly tell the rats from the bear and the conflict that ensues. I think landing on a big chord at the end and letting it ring out is a great choice for an ambiguous and bittersweet ending - the piano chord seems to be cut off while the cymbals still ring a little afterward. I wonder if letting the piano chord ring and play through its entire natural decay would help the track feel conclusive and spare it from the abruptness. Nice work with this and thank you so much for sharing your first composition with us here!

Let's go team bird! Congrats on your first composition, I really like the narrative in the music, where things start off with the alarm, then transitions into the ominous low chords building up. It builds up a lot of tension! I didn't quite get the fighting vibe from the second half of the piece though, maybe you could try to have more energy in it with things like faster rhythms or syncopations?

Congrats on your first composition!

You chose the challenge of reduction but I only every heard 2 instruments being drum kit and piano. A 3rd instrument to flesh out the composition would be good I think as there are parts that can feel a little empty.

I was trying to make it with multiple instruments, but I couldn't make it work. I'm sure more practice will help. I did only use a piano and drum set, and did the challenge of reduction by pure coincidence
