I like how the monkeys jump together like a hive mind
Funny intro xD but the game made me dizzy i didnt knew i can get motion sickness ^^
Thanks for playing! Probably I have too good a vestibular system :(
too many people complained about camera shaking, making me think to even disable it for future games hah
i didn't realizeee that i had to pick up a stick before i could use one so i kept trying to press E with those llama things and thinking the game was broken :(( eventually as i was walking towards the other apes to try it on them i realized there were sticks on the ground i could pick up. there's a sound effect for picking up items which is nice but not much to indicate when i'd made a pal and what they could do for me so i didn't see much reason in doing it. there was a suggestion to place rocks but i couldn't figure out how to pick up or move any of them which made me close the game.
after some time writing up this review i decided to give it another shot because i also wanted to check the audio again. it's set too low for me to hear and the start of the voiceline is hard for me to understand even with my audio up.... since i tried it again i noticed there were individual rocks around that i could pick up, but after picking and placing a few i got stuck in some crevice here.
so at that point i gave up again. unfortunately i wasn't really feeling this game.... worst thing was the movement felt painfully slow for me so i got impatient fast. there just wasn't enough direction to feel like i was doing the right thing and it didn't seem fun to have to slowly slide over the island to find more rocks
Thanks for playing! I HAD to implement settings menu, but didn't have time for that, really sorry. About Pals, firstly they were supposed to help player searching for rocks, giving you some boost, highlighting some interesting places.
If you wonder what moknkey said: Hi, do you have a banana? Yeeees?Okay, I see you're lost. Try making SOS sign, there are some rocks around. That's all, bye!
It's sad you haven't enjoyed but I totally understand this and will definitely improve my skills to make better games! Btw after jam ends, I'll fix everything
thanks for the clarification! settings menu is cool but with or without it i think it's best for your game to start up with decent volume if possible, i'd use connor youtube videos playing from my browser as a frame of reference for what standard volume should sound like.
for dummies like myself it'd definitely help to make those pal mechanics clearer, maybe the first pal that finds a rock has the text prompt of "a pal is calling for your attention" or something. sorry for the negative feedback, i hope it doesn't demotivate you from trying more jams and improving these skills.
Don't worry hah. Yep, I'll take your advices, anyways, wise person is who learns and not just give up after first failure
Love the aesthetic and the music, incredible job for 4 days!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^
(It was actually made in 3 days hah)
It's certainly an interesting idea. If the models were made in the 4 days of the jam - it's quite impressive that you managed to make so many. The game performance is a bit chuggy even on my PC
Thanks for playing! Yes they are hah, I've spent almost a half of the time making them. About the performance, it's on high-resolution by default :(
Aesthetics are really wacky in a good way (as another commenter put it, kind of a 1990s render). Definitely keep the vibrant colors!
I found it really difficult to play on my PC (as it's a bit older), I put the SOS sign together but it took a long time due to the low FPS. Managed to tame a few pals but could not interact with any of the violet fruit (2nd inventory slot).
I like the beach sounds and the mystical tropical music. Could do with some sounds for the pals :)
Thanks for playing! I was looking for this style as a concept was about "magic" island hah. About FPS,I didn't have time to make settings, so by default you are playing on really high resolution :(
About fruit hah, it was firstly designed to actually give you some speed boost etc, and also use pals mechanic, when lama carries fruits from tree and give you them, but still, didn't have time for that unfortunately
Feels very mystical, and was definitely quite the experience to play. The camera swaying did make me a bit nauseous though.
Thanks for playing! When jam ends I'll fix everything and add settings menu, didn't have time for that
Very etherial and surreal! Looks like one of those early 90s 3D renders, Love it!
Thanks for playing! I focused more on style than graphics hah
