I love a pleasant little GBC adventure, so this was right up my alley. Sweet pixel art across the board, and the sudden shift to the Pastoriche dream, followed by DSD was an exciting way to break up the pacing a bit. Great job!

Fun premise and really nice pixel art/colors!

Always fun to see another GBStudio game and how similar and different they are! Loved a lot of the sprite work and use of colors, especially the pipe sprite.

Really charming game! I love the characterizations you have going here. Especially Keener being a little shit stirrer.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! With Keener, it all stems from when I was making their expressions. I ended up making this kinda smug face for Keener, and decided that would be their whole personality lol

Sick pixel art, especially Gretchen and open-mouthed Bowhowdy. Also like the short side-scrolling intermission.

Having Keener be a reused NPC is very funny!

Developer

Thanks! Initially I wanted Keener to track the player's quest progress, because their ability was the perfect excuse to have them present on every screen lol

I totally love the writing and the premise of your game! It was funny and very well realized. I love how poor Grymmt‘s just trying to get breakfast! The music was also really nice and perfectly set the tone every time!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words, shoutouts to my friend mylosan_ for knocking it out of the park with their music!

Super charming game! I love the genre shifts and the world and story. Each of the skremplets feels really alive and unique. I had loads of fun seeing all their little stories. Really fun and imaginative.

Thank you kindly! The writing part is always so enjoyable for these Game Jams, we gotta thank Kyle for giving us such fun scenarios to play with each time. I really try to make the game world feel alive, very happy you enjoyed the game!

Another thing I forgot to add, I really enjoyed your use of colour. I feel like the vibrant colours really suited the world and the Skremplets. It made everything feel really cohesive in its chaoticness. Excellent work.

Your games are always so charming and delightful to play! I really enjoyed the environment and unique sequences in this one. Lots of fun little details when interacting with all the different objects in the game, too.

Developer

Thank you! I really enjoy the world building process the most when making a game, so reading comments like this feel super rewarding!

I always love seeing your art. The music matched the game's look and gave it a fresh feel that made me want to exercise lol. Loved your redesigned sprites, especially the expressions you did on the sprite and the mini close ups in the dialogue box. How you added the holographic cards within the limits of the game engine was interesting too. Good job like always!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! mylosan_ loved hearing that when I told him your comment over discord lol. The card art stuff was kind of a happy accident, I wanted "talking time" screens so we had a reason for both the overworld sprites and the bigger sprites, then when I put a frame on it I was like "wait this could be a card screen, why didn't I think of that before" LUL

Breakfast quest! That was a really cute game! You had me smiling a ton during my playthrough. The Pastoriche story beat was a nice twist and I loved how you incorporated Big George into the DSD requirement. And now I want to save some bees for free sugar.

Developer(+1)

Really glad you enjoyed the game! I wrote Big George that way in the game so that I wouldn't have to "kill off" Big George to provide an explanation for DSD's sweater XD

I liked the translation of the Skremplet designs into GBC Overworld sprites. I was legit happy to do the second half of that quest for sugar, and getting to meet a certain character in the north area. I love that even without clothes, Grymmt still has the apple bag with him, that will stick with me lol.

Developer

Thank you, always a fun challenge to try to get the original art into GBC format. I originally left Grymmt's bag in because I was too lazy to edit it out, I'm glad left it as is now lol

This was a fantastically delightful time! I thought that the Skremplets' world was really well realized here with the high attention to detail and all the sweet little easter eggs! Classy presentation and the character sprites are all lovely, that Giant Foozloos is just absolutely majestic! Tuckle, what a guy! Loved all the cards for the Skremplets as well, really gave me that classic pokemon vibes, and then that Pastoriche sequence was just awesome, NGE/Twin Peaks/Yume Nikki vibes! The scene/animation of Grymmt Dundle panicking at the end is so CUTE!  Really high effort and satisfying package! As a novice at GB studio myself, I'm deeply appreciative of the polish and restraint on display!

Love to hear you enjoyed the sprites! I really enjoy working within the limitations of the GB Studio engine and trying to get the look of a character is one of the most rewarding challenges.
