Really cool game, sneaking this in as my probably last review. Found it a bit difficult because my fingers are dumb. Visuals were cool and I loved the flip mechanic.

I love the visual especially the pushing animation.... geezzz she's super cuuuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

So yeah, this is really good! The audio and visuals are appealing, and the puzzles are pretty well-thought-out.

Maybe this is a just personal thing, (and I understand this would've been WAY out of scope for the jam,) but I wonder if this kind of gameplay could benefit from a non-linear level design. I could picture things like airdashing and hookshotting being fun to do, without having to worry about following a specific path, or set of actions.

IDK, I guess I'm just spitballing.

Either way, you've got a really solid platformer, with some unique mechanics. Good job!

Hello, this is a planned feature!

Oh dayum

hiii Odd here with my belated review !

I loved the art and atmosphere that you created!! I love me a good pixel style platformer (while I myself am not the strongest at them)

I find having the mouse mixed in with keyboard controls kind of lost me, especially for the dash. I had to watch your playthrough to figure out how to use the boots ^^"

Otherwise the puzzles were engaging, I love the gravity swap aspect. I hope you work on it some more to polish out some kinks but otherwise a SOLID submission:) congratulations

I honestly believe the game deserved a bit more thought with design, I couldn't get past the second level for some reason.  Falling blind into the needle shooter was also quite frustrating.  But I see the walkthrough, and understand what the game is going for.

We hear you, this will be fixed in the next update!

Great game with great art and music! The game really brings out my skill issue, though, and you need to die to the arrow trap to get the dash for each attempt.

This is going to be changed in the next update!

Cool atmosphere of the game!

This was such a well done game! The puzzles were well thought out, the platforming felt tight and planning out the deaths within the puzzles was a really cool touch for the theme. Great job with this one!

IM A SUCKER FOR GRAPPLING MECHANICS

This game is really fun, short, and challenging enough for me to enjoy! Because I am a pro gamer like that. And I also liked the premise of abilities! I hope you add more! The blend you did with each powerup is done really well to make a whole 'nother unique challenge! <3

Developer(+1)

I'm really glad you liked the game! The grapple is also my favorite mechanic so far as well and I can't wait to be able to utilize it more in the future!

Submitted

Loved the mechanics, I hope you continue improving the game.

Developer

Thank you so much. I hope we can too!

Cool idea! I unfortunately had a rough time getting a handle on controls, the abilities didn't seem to always activate for me that sent me back to the start of the puzzles. maybe a skill issue? But cohesive art, great music, concise ways to solve the puzzles with abilities and a good mixture of interesting gameplay. Very well done putting it together in the game jam time frame! Could totally see this fleshed out to something more. and would probably spend hours on it trying to solve every puzzle haha. Well done!

I'd really appreciate a comment on my game to :) ty

For sure! I forgot to comment on your game, I was going to! If you could describe the issue you had with the abilities in more detail, that would be really helpful for bug fixes!

Submitted

The only issues I had is that sometimes the dash would not trigger, which caused me some falls into pits haha. this prominently seemed to happen when I would jump form a ledge and try to activate the dash right away.

and the grapple felt like the mouse position needed to be a little too precise? Like it seemed if I didn't have my mouse right over the grapple point (or perfectly lined up in the direction of it, if its a raycast) when I clicked, it wouldn't connect and I would fall.  Though like I said, this may be a skill issue of my own haha, and a design choice for you :)

I have a feeling this wasn't supposed to happen :P
I'm gonna say trying this at 1am was probably a bad move on my part but I was just incapable of wrestling with the controls when it came to the dash on mouse.  Off to bed I go lol.

Developer

Oops! This certainly wasn't meant to happen! If you ever run into something like this you can press escape (press it twice if full screened on the browser version) to open the pause menu where you can restart the level. Thank you for trying out the game anyways and I hope you try again soon!

Super neat game! I like the concept of power-ups coming from different deaths. The only critique I had was with the dashing. In my experience, it only fired off about 50% of the time, leading me to fall into a spike pit. Then I would get stuck in a death cycle of trying to get the dash power up from the spear launcher again only to get killed the moment I touched the ground due to a spear being fired as I was dropping. That was as far as I got before my timer with this game was up. My frustrations could just be from me being bad at platformers, though, so take my critique with a grain of salt. You should be proud of what you have made here and overall I had a positive experience. Thank you for sharing your game with the world!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! if it helps, I could mention that the dash resets only once you touch the ground, and even then there's a small delay so it can't be spammed. We also plan on changing how the consumable powerups work so that the dash won't have to be remade every time you lose it. Thank you very much for your time and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I was having such a skill issue but THE ART IS AWESOME. THE MUSIC SLAPS. And you should be suuuper proud of this. Can't believe this was made in such a short time!

Developer

No worries if you were having issues! If you're willing to give it another try, there's a walkthrough in case you want to just play the game. I'm also so glad you really enjoyed it! The only reason we were able to make it was by pulling several all nighters so I'm glad you appreciated it!

TermiNera is a beautifully made puzzle game that throws you right in with no hand holding and has some amazing mechanics which keeps the game feeling alive! You can tell right off the bat that the art work was hand made and the background music along with the SFX are perfect! Loved this game

Developer

Thank you so much! Your words mean alot and I appreciate that you found enjoyment in every aspect of the game! Thank you for playing!

Lovely game! I managed to beat the whole thing and I figured out having to die certain ways. The gameplay is smooth, the art is impeccable, and the music is very lovely! You should definitely keep making this!

Developer

Thanks so much! All of the art and music was custom made for the jam so I'm so glad you liked them! I sure hope we can continue with the project as well!

Absolutely phenomenal, I would absolutely play a full version of this, great work!

Thank you so much!

Awesome game! I got stuck on the second level and had to use the walkthrough (thank you so much for including that) but other than that it was a pretty smooth experience. I love the grappling mechanic! The level design felt pretty good. It did feel a little tedious having to get killed by the dart trap again every time I needed to get the dash back but it didn't end up being a huge deal. I love the visual style and there's an interesting story setup. Good job overall! :P

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Glad you found some use out of the walkthrough! Furthermore, we're 100% planning on reworking how the consumable powerups work so that you don't need to remake them each time if you lose them. Thanks so much for playing our game! I appreciate your time!

WAT A SICK GAME WOW. i loved the gravity mechanic really adds a lot to the game, also i love the use of theme in the game by dying a certain way to get a power up pretty cool. i also adore the game design and the music. would love to see more of this game :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it a lot and I hope we'll have more to share in the future!

This seems like a really good game but I couldn't get past the second level. I couldn't figure it out and after quite a few attempts, like 20, I sadly gave up.  This is really just a personal skill issue though. The music and art are phenomenal though!!! The game looks incredible!!

Hi there! A walkthrough as well as hints are provided in the description, in case you get stuck. Sorry that the game is so challenging-- We plan to scale difficulty more slowly in the future. Thanks for giving it a shot though, we appreciate you!! Comments like this motivate us to continue to build on and improve the game.

I didn't realize that there was a walkthrough. Thank you! You're welcome! I still had fun with the game even though it was super challenging.
