great work on this submission yall!! I love the artstyle and the idea. Unfortunately for me (in browser) I could not see/understand the "signs" to watch for , nothing would happen except the opponent doing a different arm movement, and when i tried to follow that, it ofc didnt work ,:)

Congrats on the score, you defo deserved it :)

Absolutely had a blast, love the use of a simple mechanic "rock, paper, scissors" and turning into a really fun experience, one thing is music and sfx might be a bit loud, adding a slide would make things easier.

There is nothing more to comment on... your game felt crunchy (very good) and well polished.

Would love it if you check out our game too !!

Very cool game. Nicely done, polished, and sounds and looks great. The instructions were a little hard to pick up at first but eventually got it. Maybe a tutorial or sample run would help adoption. Great job!

Developer(+1)

I like the Twist you get there with your tower defense man :D worth the play before this jam is over.

Submitted

This was really fun! Nicely polished and very good music, sfx, and visuals! I went all out on attack for my upgrades, and ended up winning after 1 death. Not sure if you were meant to get multiple att ups in one death or not.

Submitted

Even though it’s a simple mechanic, it turned out really fun and nicely polished! Visually very pleasing, great music, good feedback — congrats, an excellent game!

If you have a moment, I’d love if you could check out mine too! Play it here: https://kaijota.itch.io/graverun

hey man! sorry, I really wanted to try your game, but you don’t have a web version. Am trying to avoid Downloading stuff from gamejam dev I don’t know yet. really sorry just being careful from MALWARES. :(

try to create a Web Version too in the future unless you Using Unreal Engine.

Submitted

oh thanks, but we don't have any malware. just that windows doesn't recognize games without a publisher. I assure you we aren't trying to harvest your data or anything like that, our devs just didnt know how to build a web version haha

Developer

You looks trustworthy, will play it later when i get home man 😁👌 looking forward to it

Love this idea! Rock paper scissors as a fighting came is super cool and the character designs/artwork are fantastic. I had some trouble with the flashing VFX, so if there's ever a full version I'd love to have an option to turn those off. Excellent work!

Developer

hello! I apologize in advance, I can’t rate your game :( Trying to avoid downloading stuff from game jams from dev I don’t really know yet. trying to avoid malware SOrry!

You should try creating a web version on the next Gamejam.

Submitted

No worries! I tried to get Renpy to cooperate but it just refused unfortunately. Hopefully I can sort it out someday lol.

Pretty fun game!

I love the visual and the music. Really adds a lot to the whole experience. The visual effects add a lot of juice. Feels very polished

The mechanics is pretty simple, but sometimes feels punishing if you forget the pattern of an enemy, especially when you rack up some combo multiplier. I think this problem was quite apparent with the boss, which as far as I can tell was full random. I got a bit frustrated with the boss after 2 tries because it truly felt random and when I lose, it just doesn't feel fun, as I felt there was no skills involved in fighting the boss. I understand the perhaps the skill lie in you having to defeat as many enemies as you can before time's up. But the way the boss was designed made you feel like the time you spent learning how to memorize the other enemies' animations were for nothing, and that felt really frustrating.

Sorry if I sounded harsh, because I did find the rest of the game to be quite well made and was quite fun. But the boss really did made me feel like it took away from the experience rather than adding to it. I hope I can see some improvements if you decide to continue developing the game.

Developer(+1)

Agree man, the boss pattern was so hard to remember, we need to be more forgiving to the player to balance out challenge and fun.

By the way i recommended your game, to one of the dev i rated a while ago. About adding something if death is mandatory. 😁👌

Submitted

Oh wow, that’s incredible to hear. Thank you so much!

Your game is also definitely one of the super polished ones too, I just wish the boss wasn’t so difficult haha. But I will spread the words about yours too 😊

Submitted

This is incredible! I wasn't quite sure what each enemy's RPS pattern was, but that did not stop me from enjoying Jangken O'Reaper immensely! Excellent job all around.

Submitted

Extremely polished game! I especially liked the combo system, music, and art style. Great job ^-^

Developer (1 edit)

ey man, your game sounds interesting, a walking simulator. but apologize in advance I can’t rate it, Trying to limit the game I download from Game jam, only from dev I can trust won’t share Malware.

You should try making Web version in the future gamejam, unless you using Unreal engine.

Submitted

That's understandable! I haven't figured out how to make UI responsive to resolution yet, hence why I didn't make a web build. I'll look into it in the future though!

Developer(+1)

Nice! See ya in the future game jam mah dude! 😁👌

Submitted

Wow Wow Wow, this reminded me of a flash game I used to play as a kid. Very Polish despite the time constraint. Good Job!

Developer(+1)

yup flash games actually inspired the art style :D by the way i need to be unfair with you man, Am really trying not to download stuff from gamejams as much as possible, unless i can trust the dev. Sorry man.

Submitted

All good, dude. I'm just here for a good time. This is our first jam, so we're still learning things for the first time. I'll keep it in mind to make it web based next time as well.

Developer(+1)

appreciate it man, thanks :D see ya in the next game jam probably.

Submitted

THE ART AND MUSIC ARE SO COOL. So much polish, it is inspiring. Great polish, great twist on a classic game.

Developer(+1)

thanks man :D played your game earlier, that was actually funny, i like it!

Submitted

Very fun and addicting game, I played through the entire thing before even realizing I'd gotten that far. The cues for which attack your opponent was going to pick were VERY subtle but in my opinion actually not too much so, it really just forced me to lock tf in and lean forward in my chair. All around really good game

Submitted

Love this catchy artstyle!

I tried to deduce the enemies' strategies, but it seems the rounds are too short to do that. So I was always just choosing the attack at random

Developer

Agree! Really need to work on that. we might just add color flash corresponding to the enemy pick, our goal is to make kids keep pressing endlessly without them lossing 😅👌 if pattern recognition is hard for adult, pretty sure its hard for kids too.

Submitted

Fun and great art!

Submitted

It's a very creative take on the old classic. Good way to make it fit the theme.

Developer

Haha, not compared to your team, lol. I just played your team’s entry, it fits the theme perfectly, and that art really ties it all together.

Superb combination, that’s all I can say.

Submitted

Thank you :)

Submitted

Probably the most fun I've ever had playing rock paper scissors, really cool mechanics and sick visuals! Deff a game that could become smth special if yall ever try a full release

Developer(+1)

Ey man! Played your game last night, really cool idea. 🐶 It actually made me miss my first and last dog.

Submitted

This was pretty cool, the visuals look real nice (sure you haven't heard that a million times), the audio and solid and use of the theme is clear

I think the UI could be cleaned up a bit more but I mean that's a very small issue. overall this was really well made good job!

also I have learned that I may suck at rock paper scissors.

Developer(+1)

Ma man! I played your game earlier, I got so hyped when I saw the GDevelop logo, lol. Really impressed with the experience you created there.

High rating from me, man. Great work!

Submitted

good amount of replay value here!

the art is amazing, I don't know how you got that done in time. I'd still be drawing the title screen lol
