this was so cool!! there's so much play time to this, i'm impressed with what you've managed to accomplish in the time that you had!! the details, quips, and pookie make it super fun!

I'm amazed you were able to make a rogue-like that feels pretty fleshed out mechanically, and on top of the procedurally generate the dungeon.

Extremely fun (and brutal at the start) experience, played for like 30 minutes straight and had a blast.

Really cool entry

The little dialogue quips from the narrator really made this one brim with personality! It was really fun evading the ghost enemies by maintaining sanity and I really love how the upgrades actually felt meaningful and noticeable within my gameplay (especially speed haha). Great job!

It is nothing short of incredible that you managed to make a procedurally generated roguelike in 5 days, with a deep leveling system on top of it all. It is a very unique concept, and I hope you will continue working on it. Playing it was a bit difficult, not just in a gameplay sense, but there could also have been more exposition to what you actually have to do. The enemies are also very strong and suddenly in your face, so it may be of benefit to somehow make it a bit more predictable to avoid them.

I'm such a sucker for any game that allows me to go very fast. I like the effects used to signal Chanters being nearby. I'm usually not a chromatic aberration fan, but this was tasteful. Thank you for the sensitivity slider!

Fun game overall! It lagged a little bit for me but thats probably my laptop. Looooove the graphics and kind of liminal vibe.

I got confused with the double HP and still having some really odd sens issue where sometimes its totally fine and then suddenly my sense it at mach 10 for a second but the design and concept was really creative and I enjoyed it! Rated♥

Unlocked the Death Incarnate rank/door, no cheats. I could have kept going but after 45 minutes, I had to call it there so I could give other games a shot tonight.

A fun roguelike overall. It is challenging at the start, but in the immortal worlds of Jacksepticeye: SPEED IS KEY. I spent my first 100 energy on nothing but speed upgrades, and it made the game so much smoother. This is not a stealth game. Tape down the sprint key, and use the right-hand wall strategy for farming: hug the right wall. Only make right turns, and avoid straightaways whenever possible. You will make it to the exit with 15-30 energy each time, minimum, provided you don't get unlucky and run right into a hoard of Chanters, insta-killing you (more on that below) . Getting 5 upgrades in the HP/sanity boosts each will help mitigate the odds of being instagibbed.

Speaking of chanters, a couple of notes on them:

1. They really should not be allowed to linger near the exit for too long. I had a run where I had over 200 energy, but I was low on HP, so I couldn't run in and kill the final one that was just... monkey guarding the exit. It refused to move, so it was a mandatory game over.

2. The dual HP system seems a little... superfluous? I get one is like HP, and the other is sanity, and it does add another type of upgrade, but having the chanters damage both at an alarming rate seems redundant. I would make it so your HP drops fast (the bar), but your sanity depletes slower (the eye), but on the flip side, you can heal your HP quicker than you can your sanity.

3. Sometimes Chanters get stuck together around a corner (which is likely what happened in issue 1), or behind a wall, and if you pass anywhere near them, despite not being able to see them, they can see you and will insta-kill you since all 3-5 of them will attack you at the same time however even if you manage to make it to them, you can't kill any of them. Once a chanter gets stuck, its hitbox appears to be impossible to target.

Aside from that, the game is great. The only other thing I would suggest is either give the player max speed in the hub, or make your hub smaller. Having to crawl at a snail's pace to the terminal for the first few lives was the toughest part in the game for me xD

Woah ! most detailed review yet ! this is invaluable.... I trully appreciate you getting to Death Incarnate with no cheats ! that takes dedication and skill ! kudos to you ! And all I can say is yes, I agree with a lot of the feedback you gave !! I spent a lot of time focusing on scripting the procedural generation from scratch, that i let myself slip up on some other things, but im glad you found it fun ! Much love < 3

Developer

Added linux and mac versions !

Be warned, i have not tested them. There's a potential bug where the glass platform in the main hub area is solid black, if so, just check the thumbnail and pretend its glass :)

Awesome little jumper-runner-collector-killer-destroyer roguelike. Bought unhealthy amount of speed upgrades and became F1 car. Cool

Developer

For the few who had issues with the sensitivity, its now fixed !!

(sidenote for the mods before you DQ me, i have the original upload still, i just ticked off the "hide", so if you need proof i didnt add any content and just fixed the sens bug, LMK !)

No matter how low I put sensitivity, my mouse was going all over the place. But I did manage to play. Game looked beautiful and Pookie was cute :D.

Not bad, definitely takes a bit to get started but progress feels good.

Really good and solid game, I must confess that I cheated. I had some hardware problems (my mouse sensitivity was glitched) so I had to do that lol. I loved how you can feel the progress really well, at first my character was too slow and I died really fast, but after some upgrades I would run like Usain Bolt and had the resistance of a Titan. The game is really well made, visuals, sounds and movement are really smooth, congrats for your game.

It's a very hard game that is for sure. It seems like it has had a lot of work put into it.
