Fantastic level and character design. I love how the character's frames are alive. That's extra work done in service of a stylistic choice, and the decision pays off.
The story made me want to explore everything about this world. (and I did, I think?). Kind of creeped me out. I was expecting something terrible to happen (or maybe it already did?). It was interesting exploring this perspective. Me, the player, and the character learning how to play this role.
My favorite technical parts are the collapsing effect in that one room (the anticipation filled me with dread.). And the flickering lights, both how they illuminate surroundings (color illusion, mask???) and the feathering of the edges.
Well done on the music as well. It's dramatic, moody, but whimsical quality matched what I was feeling while playing. Like a weird curiousness.
I don't mean to sound pretentious. Just wanted to share what I appreciated about the project.
Great job to the whole team.
Great game! The artwork is incredible, the storybook style is really nice and the whole thing just looks very polished. The concept is cool, and I love how you wrote that intro. The gameplay is fun too, though I couldn't manage to figure out the fourth ending. Did run into a couple bugs, one where after restarting the first day (was trying to see if failing immediately got a different ending) your sister no longer shows up in the first room, and you have to find her in the room she later appears in to have your first interaction with her. Also had a moment where I couldn't move after interacting with the diary. Overall though this was a very well made game, great job!
There is a mirror somewhere in the game. Look into it a bit for one of the endings.
This is easily one of the best enteries in this jam. If I had to nitpick then it would be nice if some new "evidence" appeard in the house in the 2nd and 3rd day, instead of it being the same, as well as you having to go through all of the family interactions before getting sleepy.
Still, these were very small things and even without them the game was just amazing.
Good job!
Thank you very much for your feedback. There will be an update once the voting period is over to adress some of the issues.
That has been very helpful - again, thanks a lot!
The storybook style art looks very eye catching but I was stuck on the bed and my character just turned on the spot and anywhere I clicked it just said it wasn't time for bed yet. Maybe I did something wrong.
EDIT I tried again and only used the space bar and got a bit further. Couple typos aside it's a pretty cool game. Looking for clues so you can blend in is fun. It's great that you're using Irish mythology instead of the usual Greek or Norse or Tolkien fantasy stuff.
Absolutely love this game, man. Crazy what some people can do in such a short amount of time in these jams.
I liked the art style! The gameplay loop really forces you to pay attention.
I felt kinda bad for doing this to the family though.
Lovely story and subtle hints allowing you to learn about the story of the girl she is replacing, and you having to remember the details to answer the questions correctly and fit in, really interesting idea for a game! Lovely artwork and nice background music too! Great experience!
Well I went into it not sure how much to expect but BOY did i end up getting a lot. Amazing work.
Incredible artwork! The entire vibe of this game was perfect. I wish was able click on objects again after I read them in case I forgot anything because I have a mushy brain. The character designs were cool well done with this entry
THIS GAME IS SO GORGEOUSSSS AND I LOVE THE CONCEPT SO MUCH!!! the art is absolutely phenomenal and i enjoyed playing it. i love having to guess if i havent explored enough, since thats purely on me!! ugh it was so fun
The visuals are amazing!! I loved the whole vibe of the game!
Visuals are phenomenal, the music is beautiful and really fits the vibe and aesthetic. I like how this is inspired by folklore, it makes it feel all the more eerie.
The gameplay was a bit slow however I enjoyed finding all the endings.
Encountered a soft-lock at the end of Day 1 on my first playthrough; I tried to go back to bed after inspecting it (not going to sleep) and I couldn't move or interact with anything anymore. Also came across a bug where upon restarting a day, one "good" interaction would shoot the suspicion-meter up to almost full, which made retrying a little tedious.
Loved the story and visuals. I really liked the concept. Overall, great job.
Artwork is superb! Really love the vibe of the whole game. Music is great, too.
I am in awe of the art style of this game.. it really is like reading a book like some people have said. How did you manage all of this in just 4 days. I'm seriously impressed, and wished the game was longer (❁´◡`❁)
Thank you, that means a lot :D I love to capture the feeling of entering a storybook world in the games I work on :)
Y'all really doubled down on the creative direction — it feels and plays like a storybook! My one small critique is the suspicion value color, which I first thought was blue instead of green, since 'suspicion' is a negative value and blue generally fits that vibe more than green does, but I feel like even that choice could be justified.
Awesome work!
Thanks, we appreciate it! When people say my games feel like a storybook it's my favorite thing :)
Yeah, choosing the color for suspicion wasn't so straightforward. Red was off the table since it didn't fit with the color palette. Blue actually felt too positive and comforting to me. I tried to go for a lime green since I thought that felt the most like 'suspicion'. But my monitor doesn't have the most accurate colors so it may be shifted towards blue after all!
The art is AMAZING and I always love it when theres a game based on folklore that isn't general fantasy or greek. The concept is fun and cute :)
Spectacular artwork! I liked exploring the house and trying to take on the role of this person, very cool stuff. I especially loved that as such a unique take on the theme. Just wish there was more! Definitely a cool idea that could be fleshed out after all this.
Nice take on the theme. Graphics are amazing. I really love the hand-drawn style. Got the Happy Family ending :)
ooooo I like this one! I'll be coming back to this later with more time!
