This was a pretty fun one! I liked the idea, though it was a bit confusing to start, even with the description, lol. Maybe it's just a me problem, I have a bit of trouble starting anything no matter how clear the instructions are.

I enjoyed that a lot! i forgot to die! and then i died!and i really like the sounds too
and the mechanic of "uncovering the map" as you go
and the turn based movement/damage of the enemies
and the mechanic of limiting the enemies based on who you want to absorb

death is an opportunity, to be possessed by a demon!

I actually love this! it was a little confusing at first, because I didn’t know I could attack the monsters or get keys (I was constantly wondering why there were chests but no keys) but eventually I figured it out. I love the sound effects.

I loved the retro style! I'm a sucker for those kind of games (if you check my profile I made a DOS/amiga game for another jam) Great job!

Fun to play but I'm pretty sure I have carpal tunnel now lol

I just released a new version with hold to move

Awesome!

I like the idea of the game, but maybe the keys can be WASD + being able to hold them? :)

also I think I encountered a bug because I died but my strength infinitely went up!

Developer(+1)

Updated the game with hold to move and fixed that bug so there is a proper "death" state along with other tweaks.

Hey, I really liked the game. It reminded me of me and my brother playing DOS games on outdated software together. Thanks, man. One problem though—I really didn't understand how it fits the theme.

Super cute game! I liked the mechanic of revealing the map as you move. It would be nice to have an option to hold the button to walk, but overall, great game! I’d love it if you checked out my game too!

Super simple gameplay, which is great to kind of just sit back and zone while you game. Would love to see more "obstacles" in future iterations. Great job! :)

Fun game, try adding more to the game loop (like additional movement options or what happens in each game state). I can see you were going for a darker theme, but not quite sure where it fits to the overall message.

I reached the 5th floor. Not sure I understood how the death mechanic works completely, kind of felt like my choices didn't really matter since I wouldn't lose any progress and became stronger each time.
I think the solution to the movement complaints would be to add something like DAS in tetris, where if you hold a key for longer than a set threshold it automatically starts pressing that key, but still gives you that precise control.

I had fun playing it and the minimalist graphics worked quite well.

Well done!

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I just updated the game with hold to move and making it so every level has a demon and you only gain strength when you die if you don't absorb a demon.

Not sure if that's the best solution to the strengthening mechanic, but I can't think of anything either.
Having the option to auto move is definitude a good quality of life update. I just tested it and feels pretty good. I think it would be cool if you could speed up slightly by fast tapping, like hypertapping in Tetris (big Tetris fan, so I can't help using it as an analogy).
Keep up the good work!

it was really nice the sfx were really loud and annoying, i wish u could hold to move, i didnt really get the theme interpretation. overall pretty good game just needs a bit of polishing

I loved the 8-bit visuals, i would like to suggest adding key holding for movement? , other than that nice game :D.

Hey, nice game :) I would add movement by holding the arrows though it becomes tiresome to walk after a while playing in the keyboard!
