Played the mech defense like 10 times but still couldn't do level 3 :(
Great job on the cutscenes and the soundtrack, I would love to see more!
Thank you! I composed it. Really appreciate it. I take lots of pride in the music. The challenge with the dolls sound effects are that the sound effects, composed by another person on the team, are really good, and I needed to write something in the rough same key as the sound effects (roughly centered around C#). I couldn't come up with something better than just C# E C# E with slight variation in the time.
Great art all around and really loved the intro. Loved the different gameplay elements, though hit a couple bugs along the way that impeded my progress. First time through I failed the dolls bit and the generator bit, and could not access those parts again when talking to the Lover, so I was stuck in the main hub. Started New Game again, and on the 2nd time through on the generator part I somehow lost my utility bar at the bottom on the 7th wave and couldn't place bombs/walls/etc (and I couldn't get slash to work personally), went to the Subhub, lost at the dolls again (but did better at least lol!) and couldn't access either portion again. All in all fun experience, would play as it gets touched up!
Thank you! I've never run into that 7th wave bug. Slash you press, drag the mouse across the screen, it forms a curve, you press done and in two turns it slashes the affected squares. The dolls minigame is extremely difficult and I would say almost physically impossible, I toned down the difficulty in the update. Lots of things to work on, thank you for playing!
Pretty solid experience with what's been included so far. I really enjoyed the unique character art and design - it works especially well alongside the map's layout. The tower defence element was a personal highlight for me, specifically the idea of adding walls to the area to manipulate the AI. I did encounter a bug that has already been mentioned in the subhub, where I was unable to get to the middle. After reloading the game to try the infestation, I'm now looking forward to seeing how the game evolves after the jam!
Fair thank you. The tilemap collision in the first level is bugged. I personally did not see those bugs in the dolls encounter, I think the other larger problem with the dolls encounter in particular is that the difficulty is too high! So even if you didn't run into those bugs not sure if you could complete it. Difficulty is fixed in update.
Nice job connecting the story to the mechanics and theme. I definitely wanted to know more about what was going on and who the characters were. I didn't know they were Jungian archetypes until I read the other comments! Cool idea!
Bugs made it very difficult to clear the Doll stage, but I enjoyed what I was able to play.
Nice work, I really love the idea and the characters. The enemy AI felt solid, though I struggled to interact with them once I caught one in the net. The character art is great and really stands out. The overall direction of the game is strong, but I wasn’t sure how the baby dolls and the tar connected to everything. There was a lot of dialogue, so maybe finding a way to tie those elements together more clearly would help.
I love the personification of the Jung archetypes <3 what a creative idea for character design. It wasn't clear what to do after playing the two different games, but I had fun with them (I'm a big fan of tower defense haha). I also think using a consistent art style throughout would really enhance the game.
