Not too bad for a game jam, and one of the few attempts at an FPS I've seen from this so kudos for that. I absolutely love the menu and was expecting something more along lines of Mad Dog McCree than a full-fledged shooter. I can see a lot pf promise here and this is a solid effort all around.
Definitely an interesting experience, the foggy level was definitely fun to go through, especially with the rising tension from the hunger decreasing. of course there are some issues like the key thing (fortunately you provided a fix) and some issues related to UI (probably because my screen is 16:10 and the UI didn't account for it, leading to some offsets) but nonetheless, great work!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! the visuals and game felt smooth and very interactive! What a neat concept and I enjoyed sprinting through all the enemies for I am the danger! Definitely keep it going!
A unique take on the game jam theme ^^ I had some issues like the others below, but i managed to push through to the very last quest. Very fun bug tho XD (iykyk) that helped me get thru the xtra misty point. Oh btw, idk if someone mentioned, but sometimes you get stuck on doors unless you crouch. I had a hard time doing my running away parkour because of it lol
The monster designs and sound designs were absolutely peak. I was on edge hearing the shrill cries every time xD Unfortunately I didn't finish it but I appreciated your guiding me thru my bug and explaining the story to me <3
congrats on your game altogether!!!
fun lil game i got spooked in the fog area! those screams were menacing!
I was looking forward to playing this but it seems like I've encountered an issue like the others and couldn't obtain the key even with clearing the save and clicking "menu" from the pause menu seemed to not load the UI buttons on the main menu again, Also the sensitivity was a tad bit fast and I'm usually used to fast pace FPS 😅 (I won't rate it due to not actually playing it as it'll be unfair but would look forward to try again once the key issue has been sorted)
Sorry to hear that - in a worst case scenario, you can delete the "Thanatophilia" folder found in your App Data => LocalLow => Peppermint Games. Then hitting "Clear" from the Main Menu will force all settings related to the game (prefs, save data, etc) to reset
really liked the menu music, also the movements are smooth and easy to work with, my only comment is to make the hunger last longer i get stressed trying to get it every 10 seconds lol. overall a lovely game wishing you the best :))
Wanted to try this out but I can't seem to get the bronze key to work, not sure if it might be an issue on my end? Already spoke with the skeletons and it doesn't seem to help. Really like the premise so far though!
You should just be able to walk through the red block at the bridge once you get the Bronze Key - is that not working for you?
Nope, just tells me the key is still required:(
Sorry for the delayed response - you should be able to clear the data from the main screen, then try talking to the Sherriff first for the free key
Okay, was able to play after this. I think the concept has a lot of potential, and I had a lot of fun trying to manage exploration, hunger, and items/ammo, but the game definitely needs quite a bit of polish still. I like the themeing and the skeleton designs are really cute. Overall though I think you could definitely look into expanding more on this!! Good job :)
I was kidnapped against my will, GREAT GAME
This one was fun! I got a bit irritated managing the hunger aspect buuuut it's a really interesting mechanic to add to a first person shooter. Great job!
The combination of shooter elements with survival elements was pretty great. For five days of development, it's a good showcase of talent.
the town being called haven,, and being purgatory one letter off from heaven, peak writing. i LOVE the western feel! I had issues w/ frames on my bad laptop, but i trudged through! I wish i could lower sfx cause the gunshot sound is a jumpscare for me initally
Really cool concept for a game!
"Death as an opportunity" was cleverly utilized here!
Great sound effects! Some screams gave me chills
The fog was a bit too thick at times (at least on my monitor), and the world felt a bit "large and empty".
But all in all, it was fun progressing through it!
Not bad at all for a 5-day development time!
