This was so cool! The graphics looked wonderful, I loved the lighting. For a first jam this is wild, great work!! I agree with what some other people have said that the camera controls could maybe use a little tweaking, but other than that I thought it was a neat game! Good work, and I'm excited to see what sorts of games you'll make next
Thanks so much for your kind review. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I really enjoyed making it! Planning to play around with basics of 2D games in godot and unity before starting my next project.
I’ve got a few ideas banked and would like to explore doing some of the art myself as I mainly used premade assets from the store for this one. I tried learning blender and making some assets but it was pretty tricky, I did at least manage to edit one of the assets, the window, to remove the frame so you could jump through it, haha.
a cute game visually, really liked the possession mechanics and walking around with different weight and jumping heights, also i'm not the best a puzzles so it took me a moment to figure out the first puzzle. the game design is lovely.
Thanks for the lovely comment! Glad you liked the game design, I tried to practise level design recommendations from GMTK’s videos.
Cute game interisting mechanic posessing the different objects.
I saw on the page it's your first game jam and you did amazing for a first time :D
The camera was a bit weird in my playthrough (webversion issue?) but i enjoyed it nonetheless
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback! Yeah, I was learning unity in the evenings and weekends using CodeMonkey’s tutorial for about a week and a half before Sean announced the jam and thought it was a perfect opportunity to practise what I’d learned.
3D cameras turn out to be hard to wrangle, haha, I think an isometric camera or 45 degree camera you can swap between the cardinal directions would be what I’d use if I remade the game now.
I really like the graphics. The UI could be a bit more immersive, but it doesn't get in the way. Possessing various objects, like bones, was a lot of fun.
I ran into a few collision and input issues with jumping. I also struggled with the camera because cursor is not locked in the web version.
Thanks for the feedback! I originally wanted the ghost power bar to be a vial of glowing ectoplasm fluid but didn’t get time.
Think my raycasting to detect the floor needed a major rework, i was originally using collisions but was getting some funky results.
I thought I fixed the cursor locking bug, dang!
Nice little puzzle game, though there’s a few bugs/unfinished things (for instance I saw somewhere where a wall was too short, at the bottom of the elevator. That and collision bugs with the moving plateform)
Also I found a few exploits : One, if you jump as an object and time holding E to de-possess, you can jump pretty high (let me bypass a puzzle from the floor once). Two, if you jump as speedy ball you have an instant fall which, combined with collision bugs, can make you go through floors (it did that for me with the moving platform)
Otherwise it’s a great game, love the concept, and I feel like it was just enough levels to not make the game repetitive
Also kinda wish the dialogs (the starting one and ending one as well) could be skipped to the next phrase with a button, like space
Sorry for making a wall of text btw ‘-’
Thanks for the detailed feedback and bug reports, the last level was definitely a bit rushed to be put together, if I was to make it again, I think I'd use greyboxing to create the levels and a tilemap to populate the greyboxes so the levels were more consistant and precisely laid out. Glad you enjoyed the concept, I tried to add a new mechanic or interaction as the solution to each level to make sure you didn't feel like you were just repeating yourself.
Great concept with fun puzzles. Would have been cool to posses all items in the dungeon, but I understand that might invalidate the puzzles. Very good entry for the jam!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to make everything possessable but was tricky to decorate the levels and make the puzzles valid with the items available to possess.
Very interesting take on the theme! I like these kinds of puzzles, even if I'm not very good at them haha I did get stuck in a barrel at one point
Good job!!
Thanks! I didn’t try jumping in the barrel, so cool watching people play and find things even I didn't know about, haha
