Ranked from 8 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the Magical Girl Genre?
The main character is Magical Girl Nyx, a veteran whose aging has been stopped after overusing her powers against the Great Void over 50 years before the game takes place.

Which theme(s) do you pick?
Mainly Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, old protagonist, Private Military Companies and the Nature of War.

How does your game fit those theme(s)?
The protagonist is over 50 years old and her aging process was modified by overusing her powers while fighting against the void, she is an old soldier working for a Private Magical Company called Aegis Protocol, and she is on her last mission to uncover a conspiracy made by the people who proposed the Harmony System to promote war and develop a new bioweapon to surpass the great calamity from the game's world.

If you follow any of the optional challenges, elaborate as you like.
The game implements a stealth system with patrolling enemies, and simple combat. Also, the narrative includes "a weapon to surpass" the Great Void, the greatest catastrophe humankind faced in the game's world.

Were the assets for your game made during the jam? Elaborate as you see fit.
All code, Sprites, Story, Sound effects and some ambience tracks were made by me using Audacity, BFXR, Piskel and Unity. The song from the intro was made by PhatPhrogStudios.

Salutations!

This is my last mission! What a way to start a story. I got really excited ngl. This story sounds epic and interesting.
The art style it's pretty cool, really good, and cute to see.

Gameplay-wise, it was solid and well done. I played two runs, and I liked the detail that the end screen's message changes every time you get to the end; that's a nice touch.

I have some notes from my experience that I would like to write down:

  • The tutorial text fades out too quickly, and there's no way of reading it back. My first run, I went blind and, by accident, I totally missed the explanation about the Mana Orbs and the Medkits, and waste them at the very beginning hahaha.
  • Didn't know that you could enter buildings; a visual indicator would totally help the User experience while playing.
  • The Intro music was so epic, but once the game starts,  the sudden cut is too noticeable. A little fade-out before starting the stage would help a lot.
  • The bullet sprite, for some reason, was backwards from the direction I shoot(?).

Either way, my final thoughts are that the story sounds really interesting. I would like a lot to see more stages and more development. I'm still shocked because the intro was pretty exciting and the gameplay was fun to play.

This was a great work! I really enjoyed it.

Very late to play this sorry! Cute little game just wish there was more! My only real complaint the music seems to do a complete tonal shift from the opening exposition to the gameplay. Good work though :)

Fun little game

The main character is super cute, I couldn't stop laughing at how different her facing the camera sprite looks compared to the other angles and I hope it was intentional because I love the face:  (╯_╰)

I had a bit of difficulty figuring out I could enter the buildings in the map on my first play; I got lost not even thinking about trying to walk into the one on the left after the first gate opens (though nobody else seems to be complaining about it )

Also the story intro was actually quite gripping I really wish there was a bit more to it; I couldn't interact with the note in the first building whether or not that was implemented/intentional or not 😵‍💫

Hello there! I'm happy you liked the character sprites! Another commenter also mentioned that hints on how to proceed would be appreciated, to fix that, I'm still currently implementing a codex system along with some improvements to AI. I hope to get it done on this week!

Also, on the topic of the story, there's also a rework to the introduction coming along with those so I hope you play it again after I update the game!

There's some cool ideas here! Unfortunately I had some bugs and could not progress far. I shot an enemy and when it died I lost the ability to move and the rain animation broke. It was like the game froze.

Developer

Hey there! thanks for your feedback! the bug is now fixed!

Easy to figure out, but hints on how to proceed in some places would be appreciated.

All the UI portions are really cool! I think some sort of audio/visual queue when you press R to reload would help.

Developer

Hi there! Sorry for the very late response. I'm currently working on a hint system for story and progression. Additionally, there is a reload cue, so I will either check if I'm playing it correctly or if it is a volume issue. Thanks for your feedback!

What I Liked:

  • Very accessible/easy to learn game
  • Multiple weapon types is cool
  • I really liked being able to fully rotate the character
  • I liked that the building roof faded out

Notes:

  • Small bug: enemy searchlights sometimes partially/fully disappear, but I have no idea why.
  • Would like to see more variation in enemies
  • The HP UI is really cool, but I think it's a little intrusive where it is on-screen right now.
  • The AR6 seemed to do more damage, but resources were very plentiful. I think if you made the bullet resource for the AR6 more scarce or if the AR6 bullet usage attracted enemies, it would feel like a more strategic decision point in the game.
Developer

Hey there! I'm glad you liked the game! The searchlights were made to symbolize cones of vision of the enemy, so because of the stealth system they update. This will be reworked for the next update so all i can say is "i'm working on it".

I've just updated the game and made the base resolution 1920x1080p, along with some resizing of the UI, so it should be less intrusive. Even then, I'm thinking of redrawing it more in the style of BloodRayne Betrayal.

Before enemy variation i'll rework the AI, on this version the pathfinding was updated but it's still quite far from where I would like it to be. I'm planning to include a "hearing system" so that certain player actions cause the enemy to go and investigate the place.

Look forward to it!

You might want to adjust the viewport window for your game on the itch page because this is what it looks like right now for me and I cannot full-screen it

Thanks for the feedback! I've Fixed It on WebGL and I will soon add the fix on Windows.
