I liked the reveal that there were a bunch of pig freaks eating bodies down in the basement. It was a nice escalation in the horror aspect beyond just finding a killer.
I'd believe you if you said you spent a week just implementing the cinematic camera work. It was truly a perfect piece of third-person artistry. The CRT monitor and videotape scenes made me feel like I'd travelled back twenty years to play the game. A splendid piece of work.
I think this was one of the very first games I tried at this jam... At the time, I arrived in the big room with the giant pig, and I glitched into the ceiling when I went through the door diagonally. That didn't happen again, and this time I was able to get to the end.
The game is really fun, a little old-school survival horror that Resident Evil would be proud of. The fixed camera changes are sometimes a bit clunky, but I still find it plays very well.
The enemies sometimes moonwalk a little too far away during combat, which makes them less threatening.
Good little game (the menu and intro are great too!)
cool game, atmosphere was great, loved the boss fight
A well rounded game with retro vibes and well done with the presentation! Defo reminded me of the good ol games of the gone era
Great job on the presentation, it’s super clean. Especially with the cinematics and transition, it feels like a full experience! I loved how you also subverted the genre by switching the camera later on! One of my favorite of the jam, good job!
This is so cool! I love the retro style reminiscent of the first Resident Evil.
Controls were a bit tricky, but combat felt fun. The final boss was a bit too tanky for my liking tough
The game emulates the PS1 aestehics nicely. I especially liked the way you modelled the character. The death screen is quite cool.. Not a huge deal but, bosses cleavers, which are 2d planes, are hard see from certain angles. Good job!
Cool game man, love the old school PSX feel and the resident evil style gameplay. The tank controls and the fixed prerendered angles really takes me back, it was fun to play! Encountered one bug i died as i opened inventory and got soft locked. overall cool game and concept!
The graphics are ugly but in a good way and I believe it's what you were going for. Altogether I wished for a higher walking speed. I have never been good at this camera switch kind of games but I accepted the challenge ;) Good job!
The door really reminded me of Resident Evil, but I'm not the biggest fan of tank controls—I find them too clunky. However, the atmosphere is really great and the sound design is good. I wasn't too keen on the boss because of how it works combined with the tank controls, but overall the game is very good!
Ok ok ok, vibe is there, so is fixed camera, I absolutely hated tank controls but it's also retro :D love used shaders and cutscenes, change of cameras, animations are on point :)
It feels like I'm playing Max Payne mixed with Resident Evil. However the lack of health status display makes it hard to visualize.
Sound design is great, and so is the camera work! I love games with this kinda camerathey’re so funny just to walk up to it and spin or moonwalk, lmao. The music’s got great horror vibes, and there are so many assets too. Y’all already know I hit the 360 headshot on the pigmen. Also, thank Christ for save points.
The health doesn’t show correctly maybe? It says I’m full, but I got CHOMPED ON. Gotta admit, the last boss fight was pretty fun to play, just wish there was a sound effect or something to show he’s taking damage. I shot him a lot and got no feedback, so I thought it was a “survive as long as you can” thing until I just started blasting again.
Final thought: love this game. It was smooth, had a lot of content, and I just really like these kinds of games. Keep on developing, you’ve got great taste for it!!
Thank you for your comments. Glad to hear you enjoyed our game!
Yeah the boss fight was pretty rushed! (not putting the butcher in the game wasnt an option when its the name of the game ahah) Thank you for your feedback
