Interesting idea, but the sounds are repetitive and controls are very clumsy & player states (e.g. carrying bucket) were poorly indicated, I could barely get past the first hallway
Thanks for you comment! I challenged myself this jam to create an one-touch accessibility feature, sorry the the clumsiness feel, This attempts have given us basic accessible feature that will only get better as we make games with this kind of feature! :)
A noble goal indeed! Best of luck refining this concept :) (have you ever attended/seen recordings of GAConf?)
Interesting idea of cleaning the ritual mess, I'd like to see this going on: the ritual atmosphere, the story behind... The control feels a little clumsy, and items like the key is hard to pick.
Thanks! We did set the foundation for a story with this jam, what happened originally, or what could happens the to player could be very interesting to explore!
We decided to keep our one-button control scheme, for mobile and accessibility purpose.
I only tested our build with the touch-compatibility, and it does take a while to get used to it...
Believe me when I say that I cleaned that house more time than you can imagine... Truly scary stuff! ah ah ah
Really nice concept and art execution! I like atmosphere!
Game has nice potential as clicker game with horror elements
What I missing is some mouse indicator what i can interact with and better system for cleaning, I did not really understand how to control my bucket with water.
Good job and congratulations on your submission!
Thanks, we tried to make it accessible with making a one button game, We would have liked to make it a little more scary. it was also the first time Tamayx and i made a game together, so we had to learn each other way of doing things so we could submit an entry, next time we will be unstoppable!
I feel like there's so much potential comedy in ritual cleanup and it's a really fun idea to explore!
Thanks we did not explore the possibility of comedy, I'll keep that in mind! thanks for playing our game!
Cool idea, the premise feels fun and there could be a bunch done with it. I do actually like the art style it is endearing, and being able to choose a gender was a nice touch.
It was a bit ambiguous as to what the hell meter was until it started filling up, also, the controls just feel very clunky, it wasn't too hard to get the bucket stuck to me and just walk across the entire room and clean everything. I also don't know if anything was meant to happen after the second level.
Thank you ^^ Yeah, we sadly couldn’t finish the story part or add the puzzles/minigames we planned. It ended up being only two scenes, and no real ending :D About the controls, we made it so it can also be played on mobile, so everything can be done with a single click/tap. You can pick up and clean with the space, and move with left click, so it might feel a bit clunky because of that. ^^
Really cool idea! But after clearing the second room, nothing seemed to happen - it would be nice to have an ending or at least a screen showing that the game is finished.
Big respect for adding the option to choose the character’s gender - that’s a lovely touch!
Please check out and rate our game too! ^^
Near the end of the jam, we preferred to do a second level instead of closing our game loop, which we were not sure how to do within our narrative of the game.
Once the idea was suggested, I found important to make the gender select happens because here, in this world, some stereotypes exist that is a certain gender role to clean that needs to be shaken down. 🤙
Thanks for your comment!
The game is original and creative, and the art is awesome, but the controls are slow and clunky. Nonetheless, this is still a solid jam submission.
Thank you! I tried as much as possible to be a 1 button game to make it accessible to everyone. Glad you liked our submission! =)
Oh how fun of a concept, I was first reminded of those old Garfield Horror flash games with the mood and look, as well as the gameplay style (point and click), really fun, I loved those. The premise had fun concept and hook, but sadly I ended up fighting for my dear life against the bucket (like maybe I just read the controls poorly but it I feel the bucket did not want to cooperate, in fact, was trying to kill me), which, well did take away from the mood a bit sadly. Still good work!
I'm very sorry but we coded none of these bucket killing shenanigans...your version of the game may be haunted!
Ah, that explains it. The ancient curse is back then.
Nice, but slow. Due to the fact that some of the pollution is not visible on the screen, you will have to walk along the contour of the map in search. If they finish the game and add what they didn't have time for, it will turn out to be a good relaxing game with a pinch of cheerfulness thanks to the screamers (The characters look cute <3)
Yeah some cobwebs were not that intuitive, that's my bad! I'll keep in mind your interest for us to finish the game! :)
I really like the premise, I think a lot can be done with it. Controls are a bit clunky but overall I find the game quite charming! I feel like it would benefit from some more story elements, to feed players' curiosity and keep them hooked.
Due to time constraints, we focused more on the coding and art, so we weren’t able to include as much dialogue or story elements as we’d have liked. Thanks so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it. ^^
Cool premise, and nice graphics.
A few suggestions for future improvements:
- The player moves very slowly. Both characters seem young and healthy, there doesn't seem to be a thematic reason for this.
- The color of the blood and the color of the floor are very close; a higher contrast would have been helpful.
- I found the constant flickering of the lights a bit annoying, and I don't think it adds that much to the atmosphere. (If you want to convey "the light bulb is dying," then a couple of flickers every 30 seconds or so would be enough.)
- Music would definitely increase the amount of immersion.
Fixed the character movement speed, scaling, and a few timing issues (light & sound). Art style was a time constraint choice and hope you still enjoyed it! ^^
