I really enjoyed the aesthetic to this game! The art was so nice, I got to Door 49 but died :(

1 thing I can mention is there was a few doors I luckily got some items, but any more than 3 and I picked the new thing over something I already had, but when the next door came it had reverted back. So missed out on using the lady in prayer I came across. Other than that, a great game!

Developer

She's only good to throw at a Zombie or Vampire anyway lol. I made a moral choice or two to give some variant endings.

Did you just overwrite her with another item or was there a glitch and she disappeared?

Thanks for playing and your review 😊

Submitted(+1)

sorry my comment took forever to get approved. If I remember correctly I got another item and it saved over it. Either way, thoroughly enjoyed your game! The artwork was very good!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks so much yeah I planned it to override so like a risk reward mechanic but badly explained in my game and docs. Basically if you want to save the Hobo or the Sacrafice you forgo a slot for each - making it much harder to survive.

If you wait on the item screen you leave it after a few secs, if you didn't want to pick it up. I need to make these mechanics more clear thanks for the feedback!

Really cute! I really put a lot of effort into it! Just because it was so much fun.

Hey — I just played Hallway of Horrors and really enjoyed the eerie tone you created! The art and sound work perfectly together to keep the tension high, and the random door mechanic adds a fun layer of unpredictability. I did find myself a little unsure about the ultimate goal and how some of the items interacted, so a quick intro or visual cue could make it even more engaging. Still, the overall vibe is spot-on for a Halloween jam — great work!

If you’ve got a moment, I’d love it if you could check out my game and drop a rating: /jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

— thanks so much and good luck in the jam! 🎃

Okay this game genuinely made me laugh. The intro were very over the top and great.

- That being said I think you should let the user skip the intro after it has run once. Maybe throw it in some storage or come kind.
-  The monster looked very cool

- music was great.

- I feel like I had to press left or right like 9 times to make sure it took

- if I saw a monster then after the fight it would go back to the store and then I'd die for seemingly no reason. Kinda confusing.

Anyways. I had fun and you made me laugh!

Developer

Cheers Bobby loved your game btw :)

Good music! And I like the monster graphics.  I didn't find a way out.  I think I got up to door 45 or so.

I thought the game was a little confusing. When I encounter a monster, I feel like I am supposed to fight or run or something.  But I guess I just have to wait for it to damage me. (?)

Developer(+1)

Well done on making ir to door 44. I made a bit of a mistake making it so long as you get out at door 66.

You are right about the monster experience I will need tool look at making some improvement and try out some new more interactive systems.

Great entry! The concept, art,  intro, and effects are all pretty good in general.

My only points would be about the game restart after you die. It takes a bit too long to restart, and this could negatively impact the replay value, especially in game jams. On the other hand, the game itself feels a bit too fast when it comes to picking the door. Sometimes I don’t get the chance to pick one. I get that the timer adds suspense and action to the game, but it just needs a bit of tweaking and balancing.

Overall, great entry!

Developer

Great suggestions cheers I will look into actioning then after voting finishes

Death scream was too loud! Pretty fun idea, it's cuteness is in the simplicity :)

Submitted

Decent concept for a game, but a few suggestions.
ASWD support - a lot of gamers are used to useing ASWD instead of arrows, would be a good idea to consider putting adding it.
Skip button - It takes 12 seconds to die, 12 seconds for the title screen to finish loading, then 21 seconds to go from the opening animation to gameplay. That's too long of a turnaround time to try your next round, it would be helpful to either have a skip button or a try again after death, and it might also be a good idea to shorten the time for how long it takes for you to die.  It feels too punishing and would cause a person to just stop playing.
Monster Doors - I know it's a punishment but some feedback that makes it feel like you are either fighting off the monster or getting away from it so it doesn't feel like you are just waiting out getting hit
Door fade in - you may want to either have the doors fade in a little faster, or have the timer start ticking a little later, felt like by the time the doors were there I had a split second to decide.

The music and art were great though, and I like the animations and the doors.  Even though the intro was really long, it did a good job to set the mood, which is why I'd say a skip button after the first run would be nice.  You might also want to consider if there could be a little more gameplay for the player since it's basically a guess the door game that doesn't seem to give you any hint on which door to avoid.

I can tell you put some real effort into this, just needs a little more to it gameplay wise.

Developer

thanks so much thats great feedback you are 100% right. I felt the same feelings the 100 times I played testing and did make small tweaks to balance but not quite enough.

I think I fell so im love with my roll in music I kind of decided changing how I did that part was not an option. But now I have a clear idea and dont know why I was so resistant.

I wanted to add more variety monsters and items but ran out of time like a cross that worked on all monster etc.

The door punishment is a fair statement and does get boring being a punching bag. My idea is the player is weak and cannot stop the monster hurting him. I will have to think of a better system or maybe a mini game to mitigate damage?  or something that doesn't take away from the core feel. For some reason for this game I really wanted to do guess who doors lol.

Anymore ideas or even requests of what you would like to see please let me know. It's exciting to get some outside fresh ideas

Thanks very much for taking the time 😀

Hmmm... maybe a dodging mini game, like the monsters will do an attack that you need to press a directionto dodge away from on time then some kind of flee animation to let you know the doors are coming up again, maybe different monsters have a different number of attacks to dodge.  You could also consider making it instead of instant death when you don't do a door that you have to face a monster instead, maybe make it a longer monster encounter so it's a punishment instead of a game over.

Good ideas 💡 thanks

Great music and art, really had me vibing. I got killed by the door timer at door 64 (I got distracted!)

I do think some kind of indicator that you are getting close would help build the tension, especially since you are at the mercy of the monsters if you don't have their counter/distraction item.  Maybe if I knew I needed to lock in I wouldn't have missed the timer 😅

Developer(+1)

Great feedback I will add that to the update list. The timer caught me too when testing and I was distracted lol

Great music and pixel art! I got jumpscared by the loading screen. Is there a way to defeat the enemies? Also, I didn't know how to make the frog and balloon work. I was able to get to door 66!

Developer

Great job on finishing the game 🤟

The toad/frog pleases the hag and stops her damaging you.

The Balloon was planned as an easter egg if you kept till the end (wasting a slot) you were meant to meet a certain clown demon.

I didn't quite get there so just a novelty atm.

Submitted(+1)

Ah gotcha, that's cool to know!

Submitted(+1)

This looks amazing and nice sounds. i would like to be able to skip the  waiting time it took a bit to long after you lost before you could continue

Submitted(+1)

Best use of music I've seen in this game jam. The art is also incredible. Nice work!

I'd just make adjustments to the fonts, and when I lose, I have to wait a long time to play again because of the cutscene.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. I definitely take action from the feedback after the jam (as its not game breaking).

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Loved the monster animations, the music, the doors, and the different creative boosters. Very simple and satisfying gameplay loop, I was urged to open each next door by the mix of curiosity and fear. Never figured out what the frog and the balloon are for, but the homeless man got useful in a grim and unexpected way...

Developer(+1)

well done for figuring out the use of the the hobo. I wanted to make the monsters resistanle and not destructable just pushing them back and avoiding damage. I think this made the play bit unclear as probably people would expect an axe, gun or wooden to win the day.

Of course losing your morals and giving in to fear and desperation taking a life - will change your ending 😉

Submitted(+1)

Nice music and art style. It is a little overwhelming in the beginning and I didn't see the timer at first. It would be helpful to put some rules or a small tutorial. The intro was nice. Good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing and the feedback

I... did not escape.  Loved the animations and the sound effects - you got them to work well together.  The death scene when not opening a door fast enough looked cool too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind feedback and sorry you didn't make it..

Must be a very large house. Perhaps add a way to skip the intro scene. I didn’t know what was going on at first so I kept on dying and replaying the intro scene. Would be nice if you could include somewhere what the items do too. Except for the healing items, I am still not sure what the balloon, the old guy, and some other stuffs actually do.

Developer

Try the old guy with a Zombie if you are a meany. The Red balloon was meant to an Easter egg and I was going to build a special ending for that lol.

The house is meant to be supernatural so its allow to break reality with all those damn doors

I appreciate all the feedback and totally acknowledge the points made 👍

I really appreciate you taking the time to give my game a go 😀

Love the graphics and retro effects! Super cool vibes

Awesome work =)

Developer

Thanks I am really happy you enjoyed it.

Really cool game!

I don't have much feedback that the other comments haven't already said, other than I really liked all the art! The intro with the house sitting on the hill especially felt very cinematic.

Awesome job!

Developer

Thanks so much

Really good game. The page really helped to sell it and the mechanics were fairly simple but fun.

The only bit of feedback I can really give though is that playing through I got roughly door 34 and wasn't sure if there was a "final" door or if it was endless. I read on the page that you can escape but I wasn't sure on what door so if the UI could display that then that'd be handy.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I was a bit silly and wanted to look for a number with special meaning 13 was too low.... so I used 66 going for 666 lol.

In hindsight for the grind required this may have been a little ambitious a goal to give your standard player...

I was going to keep it secret lol but now that too seems a little silly as I would love one or two people to experience the ending.

Thanks for playing

I didn't get controlls at the beginning, but that's fine. Great visuals and concept for the game!

Developer

Thanks for persevering for some reason I dont like the mouse dor some games and keep using keyboard controls lol. Going in I decided on the concept of choice and doors and made everything round that..
