Pretty sweet & fun game.

Can you add a mystery extension power-up that makes Rusty longer? :p

(review based on jam build)

snakes go pnbbnpbppbtphphbthh thank you for coming to my ted talk

second game this jam that’s been based on a game i have no familiary with whatsoever but still ended up being fun (first being nitori’s ultimate puppets). this is probably thanks to the core mechanics being extremely simple but extremely versatile, which is a GREAT combo! picked up how to play fast, even though the execution was quite tough at times. on that topic, the difficulty curve was nice until the last two levels, which were respectively weirdly hard and weirdly easy compared to previous ones. still fun, though. writing was fun too, which was a nice surprise given i had no prior knowledge about the setting or characters featured here. do wish the dash was a little bit faster to start up, but i really don’t have any more real complaints. music was great, the levels were well-designed and provided unique challenges, and the art was very pleasing! would rotate again

The writing was absolutely top notch, great job!

It sure is Kuru Kuru Kururin. Good job!

Nicely polished. It's interesting to see what kind of levels you can do without the springboard. I wish there was more.

I liked this a lot, not only how challenging it is but how simple the gimmick is (funnily enough, I had a similar project back then that I never finished, so maybe that's why I got used to it so quickly). Visuals are great and if the music was composed specifically for this game, you gotta release them, asaaap.

Also stage 9 is peak. (but perhaps for the majority, swap 9 with 10 for the proper difficulty curve).

Stage 10 spells out "thanks" which is why it's last. Saved me the trouble of having to make a proper end screen lol. The music was composed specifically for the game, and you can check it out here.

Stage 9 hurt my soul because I couldn't just blitz through it like all the stages prior but overall a fun game!

couldn't get passed level 9 but really fun! is rusty a 2hu oc?

Developer

Yep. We made Rusty and Chiyo for our other fangame "Touhou Heartful Threads."

Surely Hina would have shown up with all this spinning!

I agree with yiEPS, some way of viewing the level afterwards would be cool.

Developer

I thought about Hina being the reason he spins, but concluded that Rusty wanting to do it on his own in “turbo mode” was too funny to pass up.

Dunno why, but I felt more satisfaction sneaking through passages meant for dashing a lot more than, well, actually dashing. Fun game, although I think seeing the whole area when we finish a level would be neat, as a way to show the full images (where relevant)

Developer

There were actually discussions about doing the full picture thing, but we were too sapped of energy to get it done before the jam ended.

I struggled on stage 9 :( Really cool concept tho I've never played a game like this! I would say the only thing that maybe could use another pass is the difficulty progression. Stage 8 to stage 9 for example is a huge difficulty spike. (I will not remove my potential skill issue allegations from the table however). Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Stage 9 was also a sort of in-joke with the dev team. It was made late in, so I figured I throw it at the end since by that point, a player will have seen most of the content.

Simple but fun game with smart level designs
I struggled on strongest level (lie)

Developer

That was the actual smartest level because all I had to do was copy a picture

Here's my time trial time for Level 9! Try to beat it after you complete story mode!
