Audio and visual are awesome, but I was upset because there is only this beautiful start and nothing more :( I hope you finish this game after this jam, and I will finish it too!
I like the idea / concept. The graphics are pretty nice. Waiting for a longer version!
Thanks. Not planning on a longer version at this point, but am working on a more polished version. A tiny bit more work to find coins, a proper "lockbox" type code input instead of a computer text entry box, and making the coins looking like their lying on the ground as opposed to floating on a platformer.
A very short game, as already mentioned in your description, but quite a good one for a last second entry. It definitely fits the Halloween theme, though I couldn’t really find a strong connection to the “uninvited guest” part. The game play itself is straightforward: Finding the coins and figuring out what the owl says is easy... too easy xD Oh and: When restarting...actually nothing resets :b
The art is decent, but it doesn’t blend together perfectly. The mix of pixel art and non-pixel elements feels a bit inconsistent, and the UI could use some extra polish to match the overall look. It’s usually better to commit fully to one style... mixing them can work, but here it just didn’t quite land. Still, for a last second jam entry, this is a solid effort. Short, simple, and well executed within the time frame.
I liked the concept! But yeah, I felt the puzzle was a bit too strict. There were other answers that seemed valid but didn’t work, which made it a little frustrating. The art and music were nice tough and the theme is also checked. Would’ve been fun to see a bit more content or a few more puzzles but I read here that this was a last-minute game, so yeah :)
It's a fine idea for one puzzle. But like others have said the answer is too specific when other equally valid answers entered in should have also worked.
A little too simple for my liking. It's really just "find the single hidden coin then decipher the numbers from the owl's speech."
That said, the aesthetics are nice. The music is a great fit and the owl looks good. It just needs way more complexity and content.
Nice job getting something in last-minute, though!
First- I liked how you flipped the theme! Player being the guest is a nice change :)
I would love for this game to be longer- the final riddle was a nice idea, so it would be nice to see some more. Then again- I know how it is, when you decide to drop your idea and start working from scratch in the middle of the jam.
not really a fan of this game. it's really short and i did not understand what the code was, even after seeing the clue of the owl. i only got it after seeing the comment bellow.
Sorry. Like I mentioned, had to throw it together the last night. I had a feeling the code was either going to be blatantly obvious, or near impossible to guess. Thanks for playing. Sorry if it this got forced into your rating queue.
it's a fun lil game. it's a tad too simple, plus (and spoiler alert), having ONLY 10/31 working when some people could use 31/10 or 31/10/2025 for example. But other than that, it's a small little puzzle game that would have benefited A LOT from more content. the art is okay. same with music.
I knew some people would probably try the date in day-month format if that's what they're used to, but worried adding something about American or western format into the clue might have made it even more blatant. I personally have noticed that with date codes in games, sometimes the player has to try both formats if their default order does not work. I guess "Western Halloween" might not have been too bad though.
