What got my attention:
Cute and colorful pixel-art!
What kept me playing:
Vibes in general.
What made me quit:
Gameplay did not click for me in general. Also, a few times grabbers made my character stuck with no way to continue playing.
Few things I would fix:
- in menu music/sfx play partially in left speaker. - Collisions around lamp posts - character get's stuck, which is annoying.
This is such a cute game! I really enjoyed the visuals - as simple as they are they were charming. I particularly like the cat trick or treater design., so cute! The music was also well done, it was on a loop but totally fit the theme and it didn't feel repetitive in an annoying way - it was catchy and cute! I like how simple the gameplay was, without having to figure out overcomplicated mechanics (I can see why since you submitted for another jam too)
I really like the opening to, it had such a fun humour. If you do expand this game into a larger universe, you have a great start! Perhaps at the party, you have obnoxious guests that make a mess you'd have to clean up too. So different levels of cleaning up lol.
Your pixel art style is definitely very cute, beautiful, and cohesive. I love the simplified way you presented things with silhouettes and general designs that convey exactly the essence of the drawing without the need for long explanations.
Although I feel that the theme wasn’t as well represented due to the short time in the game, the introduction worked effectively to introduce us to the universe, which is great because it creates the necessary immersion for the player to understand that what they’re doing has a purpose, thereby increasing engagement.
I saw that this is your first game jam, and I must say it was a bold move to participate in two at the same time. It’s impressive that you managed to incorporate both themes simultaneously, even though the one from our jam isn't as present. When I say bold move, I mean it in the best sense of the word, because it’s through taking risks that we evolve, and I’m sure this was a great experience for you as a developer.
Welcome to the world of jams haha. I hope to see you again next time, and I wish you the best of luck with this one. Congratulations on your game!
Thanks for taking the time to write out a thoughtful reply. It was very bold and I really appreciate the constructive criticism you gave me. There's a lot I've learned participating in this jam and I can't wait for the next one I do.
Thanks again for playing and I really appreciate the thorough feedback! :)
The music is really catchy. I found myself humming along, even if it does get repetitive after a while. The overall game design is charming too, though I’ll admit I’m biased since I’ve got a soft spot for pixel art. The game play follows a simple but solid concept that works well, and everything captures the Halloween vibe perfectly. The connection to the “uninvited guest” theme feels a bit weak though. I appreciate the effort you put into the intro, it sets the mood nicely, but it might benefit from being trimmed down a little, since the “angry kids” idea comes across quickly and the transition to the title could flow faster. All in all, a very good entry, especially impressive given you pulled it off in just about 15 hours.
Thank you so much!! That's been the biggest feedback I've gotten so far that the intro is way too long. There's a lot of polish that I wish I added. I appreciate the kind words and constructive feedback, it means a lot!
Cute game, really loving the graphics especially. The music is great and it adds a lot to the atmosphere. Good job on doing this in only 14-15 hours.
Thank you for the kind words!
cant vote my teammate can rate. But i dig the adorable sprite art. If you ever want some more help with perspectives on pixel art just dm me on disc i can help you make more dynamic top down perspective not in 3d. vanishing points and texture shadows go a long wa y and may help spice up your visuals
Really nice litte game, loved the intro cutscene and the gameplay's pretty fun too :D
I like the aesthetic of the game, simple and pretty :)
nice little game
the pixel art is good and the music is relaxing , but I wish it had more content
Cute game overall. I think the game has some potential for improvement, like automatically dropping the trash when you are near the trash can. I think the lamp colliders also felt a bit off, but this could be me. But now to the good part: the art style is very cute, and the sound effects/music fit the vibe/artstyle, and generally the theme was fully implemented, so good job!
Funny little game, cool idea about passers-by who carry you away
Fun little game. The intro was great! It could benefit from being more clear about where to take trash when you pick it up. Once I figured it out it was obvious but at first i thought it was just more trash to pick up.
