I really enjoyed the game (up to the 3rd level where I kept running into walls...so I could not continue).

The controls almost felt like I was going in the opposite direction than expected, but that could have been me. I enjoyed the smoothness of the movement, and I really liked the changing of the walls with the colors.

I was bummed I lost my tail because of the wall a few times, but I eventually learned to circle a bit before eating the bugs near the walls.

The music was great and it felt properly spooky!

Developer

Wow thank you for such detailed and encouraging feedback ^^

Yeah I was surprised to learn that many ppl find these controls hard, while it's ok to others. My hypothesis is that this difference relates to two distinct categories of map readers: some prefer to rotate them, while others (myself included) prefer constant north up orientation :D that's just a guess though :)

In any case, this is really valuable as I can adjust for it in my future games, so thanks so much!

Really clever mechanic and great interpretation of the theme. This is one of those games that seems simple on the surface but has the combination of addictive gameplay and polished presentation. Great job!

Thanks a lot for this feedback, really appreciate it!

Nice idea combining snake and black and white.

Really nice idea thank you

You score full creativity points! I especially loved the animation where the player’s body segments switch colours. I also appreciate the added UI elements (I think the score counter is buggy though). The player felt good to control too (although at times a little difficult to steer but that might just be me). Very cool entry! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much ^^

The score counter just counts your tail length (rather than the number of bugs eaten), so it won't increase until you actually grow a segment which happens later :D

(I understand this was a dumb decision but changing that would require some code refactoring so I didn't go for it at the end)

The character control is absolutely brilliant! Really cool game, love the particle portal effect :D

Thank you for your kind feedback :)

Character is hard to control. I like the mechanic its lika e reworked version of nostalgic one. Good job!!

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah many people find these controls challenging. That's good to know, as I didn't aim for it.

Amazing game. Really creative concept, really fun mechanics, love the animations. The character is slightly hard to control, I think, but I suppose what really bugs me (pun intended) is my lack of gamer ability

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah I actually agree about the controls (my wife got mad while playtesting haha). I'm thinking that if I ever decide to turn this to smth bigger I may consider changing the controls completely. Maybe just "follow the mouse" kind of controls, to make it simple and focus on the puzzle part.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I think that would probably work better

Interesting idea and challenging gameplay ^^ great work

Developer

Thanks a lot! :)

This is good interpretation of the theme. The overall feeling is nice and has a nice length for a gamejam game.

Developer

Thanks so much ! ^^

This is a cool game. You dedication to the theme is amazing and it really makes this game so unique. The mechanic of the levels shifting based on what color your snake head is is really creative. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for the awesome comment, and glad to hear you enjoyed the game and main mechanic. :)

Excellent idea for a game. The character controller was interesting and made for challenging gameplay. Everything about the game from the idea to the name was creative. Great job!

Developer

I really appreciate your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and this feedback means a lot! :)

On the first level I didn't know how you could make this game interesting but then you did. Absolutely perfect.

The millipede(or what it is) is also really cute.

Developer

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback :)

Reminds me of snake, liked the theme usage. Background could have more to it but other than that, good job.

(Be sure to check out mine)

Developer

Thanks a lot for trying it out and for the feedback :)

(sure - I aim to check out everything, just didn't get to it yet... Luckily, evaluation period is 2 weeks this time, so should be enough)

I thought this was a surprisingly clever twist in the classic snake. The adding of the different wall colors made this into a deceptively complex little game. Overall, a big fan of the design. I was definitely confused at first, but once it was pointed out to pay attention to the outer square color, i understood the game much better.

Developer

Yeah, I didn't get to make a proper tutorial, unfortunately... Thanks a lot for playing and for your thoughtful feedback 😀

Interesting game! It took me a long time to get used to the controls. But the game is worth it!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and the kind words 😊

Really fun concept! There are a few bugs but i had  an enjoyable time :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! :)

If you have time, could you pls give some details on the bugs you found? Just in case I decide to develop this to something bigger :D Really appreciate!

Submitted(+1)

When you remove a part of your tail when you eat the wrong bug, the end of the tail is now the same color as the bug you need to eat which threw me off for a good chunk of time. Occasionally the score will flicker after it updates when eating a bug (Its also delayed when updating)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Apart from flicker, all should be intended, though good to know it throws ppl off and needs to be addressed
