I've seen rate for rate spamming ruin the scoring of jams in the past, and I'd like to see a fair and honest jam here.

It's alright to ask someone to play your game if you've played, rated, and gave feedback to their game. But blanket "rate for rate" callouts can really mess with ratings as people try to collect as many ratings as they can without playing/having their own game played.

If I find people posting blanket "rate for rate" posts here, they will be removed. If I find too much of that happening, the community tab will be removed entirely.

This is a message thread explaining why people should not ask people to rate their game in exchange for rating theirs.

If we see you repeating this behavior, moderation actions may have to be taken towards your game.

Please ask them to "play" your game instead of asking them to rate your game because you rated theirs, and then they can rate it if they want to after playing it.

It's unfortunately too difficult to track and moderate to make it into an official rule, because people would just have those conversations elsewhere. But we try to minimize it by moderating the community tab. 👍

We're watching the community tab for blatant rate for rate posts.

Reporting is better used for games/users breaking rules written on the main page of the jam. 👍

It means when users comment on other games telling that they will rate the game in return for getting their game rated as well.

Some people will go around, offering to rate the games of other people, if those people rate their game. This exchange doesn't mention playing the game at all, it's just about getting more ratings on games. So a group of people could get dozens of fake ratings on their games in a very short amount of time and inflate their scores.

If you want people to rate your game, the best way to do it is to:
Play the games of other people, leave some helpful feedback and rate their game fairly, and then ask if they'll play your game.

That will result in a much more fair jam. 👍

This is off topic, but I didn't think it needed a new post...however, I published my game on the gdevelop website under my user name. But strangely the game is not listed on my game page, and it is not listed on the "Game Jam 8" page, even though I provided the link during the submission.

To be added to the gd.games jam page, you need to add the Game Jam 8 genre to your game in your game dashboard through the engine, and make sure that your game is set to be visible on gd.games.

Oh my goodness this is so easy to misunderstand. during the previous jam, I remember telling some people to rate my game after my comment on their game after playing it but i don't mean it that way. I hope no one is dumb like me . Definitely not telling it that way again this time. I am sorry sir Helper Wesley but i promise i did play their game and rated it based on my experience during gameplay. That was also my first ever game jam so i don't know much about these incidents.

I just say to rate my game but I want them to play it and rate it fairly. My intention is not to get fake ratings or anything, should I edit my messages if I have any messages only saying for them to rate my game? But I never said to anyone "I rated your game can you rate mine?"
