I loved the art and polish that you made for the game a lot, when it came to that, I think you nailed it, but the game had a pretty steep learning curve. There was a few hints from the book and the description about how to play but it was much too complicated to get a handle on what my goal in the game was, and how I was supposed to achieve it. Another thing is that when I did figure out that I was supposed to corrupt other crops, I tried to hold space (I didn't know if that's how I was supposed to do it) and it wouldn't work. I eventually figured out I was just supposed to press the button, but even then the duration for the spell was too long so I would get chased away easily and lose all my progress. I still found the art absolutely phenominal though, good luck with the jam!

I read the comments and saw it would probably be important to read the page first, and was still confused. I would recommend introducing mechanics over time rather than saying all at once. I enjoyed the art, and thought the highlight was a nice touch on the herbs to collect, but I couldn’t figure out how to cast spells. I am guessing I didn’t have the correct combination of herbs? Maybe you could have a spell that works with just a single herb to help teach things?

I imagine that was the case, and yeah I agree with what the comments are saying in general. Unfortunately balance and actual game design were the areas that took the biggest hit from this being a jam game with limited time, appreciate the feedback on them though. I do wish people would look at the menu by pushing escape or clicking settings on the main menu, they would see the recipes for spells and which crops need what materials to kill; it has been wild as someone who exclusively clicks settings the moment I open a game to find that other people do not heh

I realy likied to explore game world. It's so beautifull! So like other guys here - i didn't really understand what I'm doing. Only thing I figured out how to collect herbs and free animals.
Only developers gonna read page, normal player just gonna drop your game.
But anyway I have enjoed my time, it's was really fun to run from... is this Asuka Lengley xddd?

Appreciate the kind words, people just..not reading is definitely an unfortunate lesson learned

The pixel art and music came together nicely, it looks great. I have to echo some of the other folks and say that it was a it tough to figure out what I was supposed to do, even after reading the instructions on the webpage. Showing the recipes somewhere, maybe just making them visible while viewing inventory, would help.

It was tough to discover that I was supposed to press spacebar while inside the farm, stationary, and outside the view of the NPCs. The spell was too slow to cast before the NPC would circle around to me.

Overall, it was clear a lot of love went into it, and super impressive for the jam timeframe.

Starting to think people are just literally never opening the settings or pushing escape mid game u-u. definitely taking it as a good lesson in communicating the goals upfront though

Beautiful art and nice level design! Clearly a lot of care went into the environment, so great job there! The menu animation was also quite nice.

But as others have commented, the goals are very confusing. My suggestion would be to add a UI element that tells the player what the tasks are. Just a simple checklist would do. Also an inventory that shows you what items you have already collected would be helpful, too.

Developer

there is an inventory,, you can push tab to see it (which is explained in the menu and the itch description ;w;) otherwise yes, clearly we needed to put more hand holding in with regards to the goals of decaying all crops and freeing all animals

The graphics and effects are quite nice. I found the spell recipe a bit hard to manage too. Maybe put them on main scene directly and show whether each magic is ready would be great help. Overall that's an impressive game for only 9 days.

Great audio. I found the casting spells to be a little confusing but overall nice game!

Nice art and music. I appreciate how you made menu with controls and list of possible combinations *clap*

Not really understand casting spells / corps mechanic. Maybe some small tutorial to better understand what to do.

Congratulations on your submission!
