Oh this is really nice! The controls are really tight and the CRT filter really gave this is a good vibe. The writing was so nice too! Great work :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! I’m glad the writing had some presence :)

Oh wow, this is so cleanly executed. Great game! Going in, I imagined something gruesome and depressing (also the title is "GRAVE" so...) but it had some warmth in it. I like the life-transferring mechanic a lot, too.

Maybe it had been even better if "life" had a lot brighter contrast to the environment? There's something poetic about life in the ruin like this.

Nonetheless, great entry. Nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! That’s a great idea, it would be nice with some more presence and contrast for the life aspect, we’ll definitely look into that!

Absolute cinema! I was hooked onto this game. Only complain is the ending was a bit abrupt! and I think the jump is a bit wonky. The game felt emotional, cause of the little dialogues here and there when taking life and the music overall. I gave 5 stars on everything!I think this is my fav from this jam :)

Developer

Wow, thank you! We had big plans for the ending which sadly we didn’t have time for, so I totally understand the feeling of abruptness!

I really really liked the graphics component of the game. Gorgeous. From the technical point of view of the platformer, everything is perfectly executed. The controls feel right. The mechanics of giving and taking life are very interesting. Great project!

Developer

Thank you so much! We’re really glad you liked it!

This game is so adorable. And it's incredibly thematically fitting! It was also really fun to play, the jump does feel a little weird, but I saw it was in the notes. An awesome entry :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you liked it.

pressing e to take and give and take life is a bit wonky, but movement is fine, a bit heavy but it works. audio was a bit lacking, but fine cause the music was perfect for setting the mood.

Developer

Thank for playing! What did you find wonky about using E? Is there another key you would have preferred to use? Thank you for the feedback!

Submitted

Ah sorry for the confusion! The key itself is perfect. Its how there seems to be a delay between when you press the button and when the plant grows and that straying from the plant in this timeframe cancles the process. (which was a more common issue on the platform stalks than the bouncy vines weirdly enough)

A great game, really! It’s a shame the controls are a bit imprecise, because I found the rest of the game very well done!

Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you! We’ll definitely look at the controls more for the next time

Really nice game! I like the concept, even if it was simple I think it was effective in tying in the narrative and atmosphere with the gameplay. I like the vibes, it reminds me of Wall-E a bit.

The controls feel a bit weird though, letting go off the jump button early causes a really harsh jump cut that plummets you down, and it felt a little unpredictable, and sometimes when trying to double jump it would do that instead so it was kinda confusing. I managed to beat it anyways, Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We wanted to do some more things with the life/decay mechanic, but ran out of time. Yeah, the movement and especially the jump is getting a lot of attention for an update!

Submitted

Love the concept, art and atmosphere! Sadly I really struggled with the controls, I just could not get past the 3rd room, the double jump was so challenging (or I totally missed something) so gave up after a few minutes. I’m not sure exactly how you implemented jump, but the way I do it is give an initial large velocity up on press but also reduce gravity while the player is holding jump until they hit the apex and start fall, then gravity is normal. If they release early, then the gravity applied is normal. Not that I’m saying this is the best way, but just an idea. And, like others, would love to see controller support. Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you! The controls are a bit hard and not as smooth as we would have liked, especially without controller support. That’s a nice way of doing jumping, we’ll definitely look into that!

I like the idea quite a bit for this one--I could see this being fleshed out into a full game. I thought the audio and the ambience were both done quite well, although the platforming mechanics were a bit tricky. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! Yeah, it was the first time we did platforming and we agree we would have liked to make it a bit better and smoother. On the to-do list!

The idea of giving and taking life is a really interesting mechanic!

Developer

Thank you!

The control is a bit hard to master. After some tries, got to the end. The atmosphere is quite good. and the mechanic is interesting too.

There is a skip i think,  where you stand on top of a plant, take its life and jump to nearby one while give it life.  You can just skip it and  jump to top one :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! We’ll tune the controls a bit in the future, I think, I totally get it.

Oh, didn’t know you could skip there! Will take note ;)

I really enjoyed the concept of taking and giving life as a cycle of navigating the platformer. I thought the script writing choices every time life was taken were evocative.

Developer

Thank you!

The ability to use a controller would be awesome, because I was sliding all over the place with the spacebar haha but that's really my own uncoordinated fault. The graphics are cool and it reminds me of an old school SNES game

Developer

We definitely should have added controller support, I also mainly play platformers with controller xD Thank you for playing!

I really enjoy the atmosphere  of this one.  I only wish I had a controller as I felt very unskilled with the keyboard controls to get my timing right so I didn't get very far. However, I enjoyed the concept immensely and I was really into the music and the subtle SFX. It really added to the overall feeling. Honestly, I just left it running for a bit without playing just to have soothing background music. Great job!

Developer

Yeah, I would have loved to add controller support, I didn’t think of it before it was too late. It’s coming in the update after the game jam is over though, hopefully you can finish the game then!

Thank you so much for playing!

love the artwork and the environments. this one has a really great atmosphere to it with the wall-e style post-apocalyptic setting. great work, congratulations!

Developer

Thank you, we were very inspired by Wall-E :D! I’m glad you liked it.
