Cute pixel art and silly sfx. I didn't get far enough to see a second town but the starting town was nice :)

Like others have said, checkpoints would be very helpful.

The music is so funny xd Nice game

Cute platformer game! It definitely reminded me of old-school Kirby. I really liked the NPCs at the beginning of the game and felt like the game was the perfect amount of challenging. I agree with the other comments about checkpoints and maybe some little tweaks to the controls.

Thanks for playing!

Pretty pixel art and music is interestingly catchy...

I had the same feedback on my game but coyote time would have helped a lot, I think.

Side note: My favourite character is the guy who likes ice cream.

Haha thanks for trying our game :)

Coyote time is almost always a good idea when it comes to platformers, we never really felt like we should've implemented something like that in the moment, mainly because our player never accelerates/decelerates, there's never a reason to get a running start into your jump. But looking back, we probably should've at least provided a lenient hitbox for floor interaction. Thanks for letting us know!

A charming little platformer with a nice level of challenge. Adding checkpoints would help, like other sayed. But maybe hardcore is real good one idea, but when it's hardcore their is be more motivation to complete it. The atmosphere is delightful.  I'd enjoy playing more if you continue developing it, just like retcongreg below)

Interesting perspective, I see why a "hardcore" game could be especially frustrating in a game jam, where this game is just one of many submissions the player experiences, there really isn't too much motivation to make it to the end when it gets difficult.

We had initially hoped that a difficult game would have far more personality than an easy one, especially when the subject matter isn't necessarily unique. This was our way of expanding on the limits of what our game has to offer, in an ironically simple way.

Thanks for letting us know 🙏, we'll keep this in mind when we do another one of these jams.

Like others said, this was a fun little platform and I appreciated the level of difficulty. I agree some checkpoints would be great to add just because it felt deflating to reach a certain height and then go back to the beginning when I fell on the spiky bits too much. Love the whimsical vibe. I enjoyed  the individual elements of the soundtrack and the creative instrument sound choice, however I felt like maybe the melodic bit and the drum track didn't sync up perfectly so it felt a little disjointed. Or maybe that was the intention to fit the vibe? Honestly a game I'd enjoy playing more of if you develop it further.

Thanks for playing! Yeah, music production isn't our strong suit, it was meant to be more silly if anything. The voice was recorded without much thought put into rhythm and whatnot 😅.

Sorry you feel that way about the lack of checkpoints. I do want to point out that there are a couple of them, one at each town you visit, but you're right, we probably should've put a few more in-between.

Hopefully my comment didn't come out too grumpy sounding. I really enjoyed what you did! I think the game has serious replay factor. So far in game jams, my role has mainly been audio and I know how hard it can be to get a music file to play correctly in the context so I know the struggle! The silliness was definitely there and I thought it was a good reflection of the atmosphere. I think you did great overall!

I love the slow pace :) the character control felt good and the game felt pretty fair. I think I would have liked some checkpoints along the way, but that's more of a me thing. I really enjoyed it!

When my little sister was playing the game I realized more checkpoints may have been a good idea. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Cool little platformer! I appreciated the variable jump height/gravity. I also actually liked the slower movement. I have made the mistake in game jams before on making movement too fast and it quickly feels out of control and frustrating, so it was nice to be able to take my time. The camera moving with the cursor was interesting, I don't know if I have seen something like that in a platformer before. Well done and congrats on getting it submitted!

The movement was the very first thing we made and somehow we went with it the whole way! Thanks for playing!

You made game with cool atmosphere (art and music) that make it interesting about the setting.

Just simple platformer but i had some fun!

I had some issues with displaying dialog message and missing jump that force you to start climbing once again, maybe there could be way to build level that you cannot fall to much

Congratulations on your first submission!

nice little platformer! I wasn't a fan of the mouse controlled camera for it though

Thanks! You can click to toggle mouse control on and off
