How did you use the theme?
Hike to School is a platformer that utilizes a dash, walljump, and a ball throwing mechanic that allows the player to quickly scale walls and bounce off enemies/ terrain/ their own thrown ball in order to gain great heights and travel through levels quickly and acrobatically.
How did you add the special object?
Hike to School takes place through a gorge, with the player starting on one side of the mountain and ending on the other. (Kinda, I ran out of time and so I at least have levels for one mountain and a river level.)

i like that green ball jump mechanic, feels cool
I feel like i've played something like this before. Super good game!
THE GAME REMINDS ME OF THE OLD MARIO GAMES, IT'S GOOD
Pretty fun game and the jumping off the ball mechanic feels great. I sure love my infinite wall jumps. Sadly sometimes the ball jump was super tiny, which felt like a bug.
I'm not the best at 2d platformers but I also felt it was pretty hard to play, especially getting used to the controls layout.. Other than that it's a solid foundation and a neat hook
I almost got trapped in the tutorial area, trying to make that dash jump. Got me feeling like that cuphead tutorial that trapped the games journalist lol.
I don't think the tutorial really taught it, but the ability to jump off of the ball was a really good design choice. It reminded me of the classic mario shell jump, or the hat jump from odyssey! I think that alone was a great mechanic, and it kinda made me feel like a genius to use it at times.
That said, I think the difficulty was quite high, there was a portion where you have to kick the ball through a bush after going through a pretty tough platforming gauntlet, missing it having you do the whole gauntlet over again felt pretty brutal. A bit, Mario Kaizo level difficult.
Overall, I think this game has a lot of potential that I don't really feel too often for platformers!
