Game Description
Welcome to INTERITUS, a puzzle-platformer where your body decays rapidly as you use it.
How does your game tie into the theme?
You're limbs decay as you use them for basic movement such as jumps or swings, which is the core mechanic. The overall premise also involves a scientist trying to cheat death, which is a narrative thematic corollary as well.

Game looks really interesting, i love concept of body decay mechanic
Art is pretty great, would play full version.
What i would improve is just controls, just need more playtest to improve it.
Congratulations on your submission! *clap*
The narrative intro was a nice mood setter!
As mentioned earlier, the w key has too many controls linked to it which makes it harder to play.
Interesting concept, and great work for your first jam.
Thank you for submitting!
Thanks for playing! I'll pay more attention to controls in the future
Really nice art and idea, specially for your first gamejam!
The level design was very interesting, I really like the use of limited moves as a puzzle mechanic, it's like bringing a more rigid move-based puzzle game into the platformer genre.
The controls and the feel of the character were kinda off, for example, it's kinda weird to need the mouse just to click for attacking (Maybe it would've been better to move with the arrow keys and attack with Z?), and the gravity felt way too high and the wall jump is a little awkward to use. I'd also recommend to use capsule colliders for the player character and reduce the collider a bit, because sometimes I'd get hit in a corner and plummet down, which was kinda frustrating because losing a jump almost always meant having to reset the level.
The art is really nice, but just as a small nitpick I'd say that the interactable objects in the background like the moving platforms and stairs could've been a different color, because they were the same color as the pipes used in the decoration, still nice looking though!
Keep going at it, I can feel a lot of potential!
Thanks for all the feedback! Note taken about the physics and controls, they ended up being very jank and something I didn't notice because testing my game I got so used to the jank :p and heard about the collider as well. I wanted to make the player feel unwieldy and heavy on purpose bcs of the foreign body you're inhabiting which is why the gravity was turned up for so high, but it makes sense that it would make the precision platforming elements frustrating.
Idk if I'll return to this project anytime soon, but I'll keep all this in mind for if I decide to work on a platformer again. Thanks for checking out my game!
The idea is probably one of my favorites in this jam, and I love the art and the level design as well! Every time you find out how to beat the level, it all flows together and it's so satisfying!
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for playing!! :)
Nice work! I really liked your take on the theme, and the puzzles were well-designed.
The biggest issue I had was that the controls could use some work. The "W" key is overloaded to be climb/jump/walljump depending on context, and it often didn't do the expected thing. For example, jumping straight up from the floor would actually make you wall jump away from the wall if you were too close. This is made worse by the fact that jumps are a limited resource, so I had a lot of resets to that sort of thing. Ladders were also problematic. You can't really adjust upward on a ladder since "W" just makes you jump off it entirely (actually, just about any adjustment makes you just fall off the ladder). This made the whole experience more frustrating than it needed to be.
That said, I had fun playing, and would love to see a version with a little more polish on the controls.
Heard about the controls! I didn't really notice how much the W key was doing until you laid it out like that. The ladders are jank and wish I just left them out tbh, idk why but I really struggled to get working ladders in my game. Live and learn, I'll have some tighter controls next time.
Thanks for checking out the game!
Fits the theme so well and the art is very nice!
Thanks! :)
this is a fun game, and i think it has a lot of potential! the visuals are great (i really like the player sprite in particular), the music fits the game well, and the story is really interesting!
i think the main thing that makes the gameplay feel frustrating is just the physics. there's many tweaks that could be made there, imo. the fall speed feels very high, so id recommend lowering the gravity and/or capping the fall speed so the player has more control over their character when falling. the ladder and wall jump controls r also a bit unwieldy, id recommend allowing the player to still climb ladders even when moving horizontally. id also recommend not triggering a wall jump when the player is standing on the ground and jumps next to a wall, that's caused some issues for me. one last thing, in general, ive noticed a good way to make platformer controls feel less frustrating is to buffer as much as you can. it significantly helps the feeling of dropped inputs or overly tight timing windows ^^
the puzzles themselves were really fun to figure out, the level design is great! and i think the limited uses mechanic is a really good concept for a puzzle platformer. i definitely would love to see this expanded on in the future, because despite the physics i genuinely quite enjoyed my time with this game :>
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, I genuinely appreciate it a lot. The grounded wall jump was a thing I knew about and I just didn't address it for some reason :p Good catch on the fall speed! The reason I made the gravity so high is I wanted the doctor as a character to feel weighty and unweildy, to tie in with the fact that he's in a foreign mish mashed body that couldn't control itself very well (like Frankenstein just waking up), but I totally see how that would not be as conducive to a fun gameplay experience.
This is my first jam and I struggled A LOT with the physics and played controls so lessons for next is that I'll definitely put a lot more time into understanding how that works if I decide to make a platformer again.
And yeah, ladders were a bad idea. I thought they'd be easy. I spent HOURS and I ended up with something very jank.
I also personally like difficult platforming but the star of the show should've been the puzzle elements that played around the limbs, so I should've significantly tuned down those anyways, but again, lessons for next time! Regardless, thank you for checking it out. Much appreciated <3
It's something unic for me! Really cool idea to use limbs like limations, you did it well. Game a little bit difficult, but fun to play anyways!
Thanks! Feedback definitely noted about difficulty, me and my friends who were playtesters are used to playing difficult games so I didn't really get a perspective outside my own. Till next time!
Really nice use of the theme, I liked how I had to think about the moves I could do being limited by the decaying of the body, the character design was very cool too! Maybe a little too difficult.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I'm getting a lot of comments about the difficulty, I was worried when I posted that people would fly through the game and its the opposite haha. But I play a lot of platformers and so do my friends who playtested it the day before submission, so I tweaked down the difficulty but clearly not enough. Lessons for next time, keep a broader audience in mind!
The art is amazing and the concept of the game fits the theme really well. It's maybe a little too difficult, but I enjoyed the challenge. I really wanna play more, but I'm genuinely stuck on the 4th level where the console is. The ladder after the console doesn't seem to go all way the way to the top. I've tried wall jumping, but can't make it work. Maybe I'm missing something?
OK I finally managed to do it, apparently you can jump (sometimes) while on the ladder. But the ladders are definitely quite janky and confusing. At least I can now try more!
Thanks so much for the kind words! The ladders are definitely janky and I struggled implementing them, so it's not your fault lol. They are consistent though, basically climb to as high in the ladder as you want and stop. Then press W again and you'll get a hop and then you can control the direction you go. You can also get off ladders by pressing A or D, which makes you dismount without getting the hop. Hope this helps if you ever decide to come back, thanks again for checking it out!
Pretty cool! I really liked the puzzle-y element to it, trying to not run out of uses of each limb, the art was great too! Very difficult, but I'm so bad at platformers. Good job!
Thanks so much! :)
I got stuck on the 2nd floor but overall a great game jam! I liked the design of the character and I thought the limited use of limbs was a very cool way to integrate the theme into it! Loved the old school feel of the music and SFX. I appreciated the difficulty!
Thanks! I'm sorry you couldn't get through it, but I'm glad you had a good time still :
Very creative way to use the theme! I love having my abilities be limited resources that I have to use strategically. I did find it pretty challenging mostly because I couldn't really understand how the wall jump worked. It felt like sometimes I bounced between the walls and other times I just jumped once. I really love the design of the character and the animations are really clean. The art style in general is awesome. Well done on this one! You should be proud :)
Thanks so much for the kind words! The wall jump is definitely jank, I tweaked and redid the mechanic so many times and something was always off. Glad you still enjoyed though
I like the idea limbs decays when it exceeds the number of use. The levels are fun explore. The first level was possible to beat I hope no one is convinced that the level is broken, it's still beatable.
Thanks a ton for checking it out :D
Pretty tight jumps and a pretty hard game ! love the aesthetics, though I wish ladders were more visually apparent? Or maybe I just missed an explanation somewhere...
Good job!
Ooo, good catch, I didn't think about it when I was making it but the colors on the pipes and ladders are pretty close. I'll keep that in mind!
Super cool game. Really interesting concept with the different body parts decaying when you use them, it lead to some cool puzzles. The art style is awesome and it's crazy that you made such cool cutscenes for the game. The game is fun to play but a bit hard to control, the wall jump is pretty hard to execute. Overall really enjoyed the game and had a fun time playing thru it, awesome work!
Thanks for the feedback! I was on stream watching you play and it was a really cool experience! Accidentally jumping in the one level at the very end and being unable to finish it was a really funny stream moment that I didn't expect. The wall jumps and ladders are definitely jank and something I kept having to tweak throughout the jam, but I'll try to be tighter about it in the future. Appreciate you checking it out!
Great art style and sounds, nice take on theme cool idea with limbs that lead for some interesting puzzles
Thank you so much!!!!
Really solid game! I ADORE the story and the art, you really hit it out of the part with those elements. I think the puzzles are fun, but the character is a little bit hard to control and the wall jump mechanic is a little bit confusing, especially when it isn't explained at the beginning. It took myself and my friends a little bit to actually figure out how the wall jump worked. Overall, one of my ABSOLUTE favorite concepts. I think the game is a little bit too difficult, but love the rest.
Hi, tysm for the feedback!! The ladders and wall jumps are definitely janky I struggled A LOT devving them, but thank you for sticking it through to finish the game :D Difficulty was a tough thing design for this game, I had people playtest a day before submitting and some people flew through it and some people struggled a lot and I couldn't quite find the sweet spot in the time I had remaining. I'll add a note mentioning wall jumps in the controls section of the page for future players, which is as best I can do given that I can't go back and edit the game during ratings period.
Thanks again for checking out the game, can't wait to try out yours!

Fun game! Really enjoyed the concept. I like how you made the puzzles. I would love to see this extended out into a full game!
Thanks a ton!!!! :)
