Description
So, I had this idea for a fighting game set in space, where gravity would be reduced and fighting in the air would be much more important and dynamic.

About the lore: our protagonist, Juno, is a knight living on Jupiter, where natural disasters and never ending wars take place since forever. He's young, smug and determined and when he receives the news that on Mercury appeared a mysterious legendary mineral, called Nemos, capable of producing tons of energy, he immediately sets on a journey to obtain it. His goal is to create a weapon so powerful that it would put an end to all of Jupiter's wars.

during his journey he comes across other characters who want to obtain the Nemos:

- Gaiane: a woman from the Amazon rainforest, on Earth. She's wild, hot headed and doesn't trust anybody. She wants the Nemos to create a source of infinite energy on Earth, putting an end to pollution and the destruction of her forest

- Neptroß: an alien coming from Neptune, an uncivilized planet where some of the most dangerous creatures in the solar system evolved, fighting for survival. It wants to eat the Nemos to satisfy its thirst for power.

- Plutia: a little scientist coming from Pluto, passionate about creating technological devices, weapons and robots. She wants to study the Nemos in order to discover its origins and all its possibilities.

As of now, i've only managed to make a title track and the theme for Neptroß (yeah, i know, i didn't even make the protagonist's theme, but at first i thought i had the time). I will however still continue to work on this project, adding a character select theme and the other characters' themes after the voting period ends. I will make an original cover art, too.

My main inspiration for the music was the Guilty Gear franchise because since i started playing Strive i really wanted an excuse to make a fighting game soundtrack. With the jam theme being so vague, i thought this was the right time to do it.

Description of Setup (Optional but recommended)
I used FL Studio and different VSTs, most notably UI Metal GTX for the guitar in the title theme and the riff in gefräßigkeit. The synths are made mainly with Surge XT, Sytrus, and Vital, except the background synth for the title theme which is a LABS instrument. Valhalla supermassive has also been a pretty important tool in the creation of this soundtrack.

Lessons Learned
I still need to become faster at making music, but at least i think i learned more about programming electric guitars and mixing in general

Great job using odd time signatures.

I'm really digging this one. It stands out in that I think a lot of really good music has something a little funky that ties it all together.

Great work.

I really liked both tracks, but WOW I loved Neptroß's theme! It feels so fitting for a dangerous creature wanting to consume the Nemos for power. Loving the 7/8 time signature too in it, and that guitar riff is super sick. Great work!

Has a bit of that gameboy advance/nintendo DS retro vgm feel to the sounds for me, which was really nice.

Really loved the flangery sound playing the chordal stuff in the background after 0:58.

I'm not sure if you know of it, but there's a free "articulation management" utility for FL Studio called BRSO ARTICULATE that might be useful for working with keyswitch heavy instruments like the Metal GTX. Haven't used it myself since I don't use FL, but have heard a lot of good things about it over the years.

Good work!

This feels like it totally could go in a game boy advance or some handheld game.  Very chiptune 90's.  The effort going into the concept is top notch as well.  Well thought-out.

Highly pleased with this submission!

Cheers!

Yoo nice work, gefräßigkeit is a really cool track. Would make for killer boss music. Can't wait to hear the rest, definitely post when you're finished!

Hi! I really enjoyed listening to it. So far, it's the most well-articulated track I've heard in this somewhat synthesized style. The harmony and counterpoint are simple, but they work well together. I believe you managed to be quite complete for the concept. I think the only thing I would improve would be to explore more themes within the same track; sometimes it sounded a bit repetitive, but not in a bad way.

Title Theme: This track starts out ominous and foreboding. The drum kit and bass then add a sense of confidence fitting for a fighting game. I really like the melody used in the guitar! It is simple and memorable which would allow you to use it as a leitmotif in lots of different ways throughout this game. This sets up a great atmosphere that appropriately sets my expectations for what else I will hear in the game.

gefräßigkeit: I was wondering how you were going to make the theme of an “uncivilized power-thirsty alien” sound, and you certainly did not disappoint! The chaotic guitar riff over a relatively static harmony emphasizing the major 2nd interval embodies tension and chaos but still keeps me engaged.

It would be really fun to hear the themes for the other fighters in your game idea! You have a great start on this - you should certainly keep going! Very nice work, thank you for sharing!

I like this! Its quite unique! I love the idea behind the story you had. The music did fit it well.

I like the tone and direction you took the song. The instruments blended well and you kept it moving with it getting to repetitive. Overall great sound you have. Nothing jumps out at me, so you did really well. Only, as you said, wish you had some more songs!

How did you set up your Valahall supermassive ? I still have not figured out the best way to use that reverb plug in yet.

Great work here!

thanks for the feedback! in Valhalla supermassive the main things that change the reverb are the various models and how they interact with the warp and density knob, so try to experiment with the different models with no warp and no density and then try them with higher warp and density in order to find what sounds best for you (the feedback knob is also important but that works like any other delay plugin)

Really liked the direction you took. It has a very mysterious and floaty vibe that I really digged. The first song kind of reminded me of Stemage who was one of my favorits back in my teens. So cudos to that. However I'm a bit torn with the guitar sound. For me it sounds weak. It is to narrow in frequency wise and feels like it needs some more push to realy sound mean and gnarly. Otherwise it sounded really solid!
