Such a clever idea! Surely one of the most innovative game i've played so far.
The wall pushing mechanic is cool, but it was a bit frustrating falling for holes i couldn't see coming (I know the tapes are here for that but I didn't really understand how it was supposed to warn xD). Being able to run or would be great too (It felt long sometimes).
Simple but good visuals :)
A shame the game lacks sound though.
Cool concept! Really nice to see creative games like this in the jam! I liked the idea, but I couldn't finish the game :/ I'll have to get back on it sometime later!
I love the wall pushing mechanics! It was one of my ideas for the jam, and I'm glad to see someone make a game out of it.
I feel like the day/night mechanic was not very intuitive, and it's a bit frustrating to have the room reset because you ran into a hole you couldn't see. But apart from that, you did great on the idea. Keep it up!
I like this game, non-euclidean you can make a room bigger by pushing the wall out
Without a doubt, this was the game that used the theme the most creatively! I really liked the concept — genuinely a lot.
I’d say the difficulty is just right, especially because we don’t have to pick up all the boxes again. That was a great decision, since losing progress like that would be frustrating.
The wall-shifting mechanic was really cool and fit the theme perfectly, since we never actually leave a room — we just expand or contract the space we’re in.
It’s interesting that we can escape the holes if we move the wall subtly. However, it would be nice to also have a chance to avoid falling in when we’re pushing the wall quickly.
One idea I had is this: if the player holds the spacebar and happens to move the wall into a position where they’re about to fall into a hole, the character could cling to the wall for a short moment (2–3 seconds) while the key is held. That would give the player enough time to back up or move sideways to avoid falling.
I had a great time playing it — I genuinely enjoyed the game. The graphics are simple but functional. Congratulations, and I wish you good luck in the Jam!
the idea is so creative and unique, and the player mouvement was so satisfying
you really did a good job here
What an infuriatingly cool game! I ended up completing it (maybe not cause there was a cryptic message at the end) and darn it, it was so well designed. At first it was a bit difficult to understand the mechanics and the shifting of the floor, but in the end I did it. Unique idea and the first time I moved the wall I audibly gasped and then tried to understand how you did it haha. The simplicity of the controls is also a plus point, so minimal tutorials but such a polished experience. A minor nit pick: the character sometimes got stuck on the edges of the floor above a hole if I kept walking towards it.
Overall: 9/10!
Thank you for the kind words!! I love to keep the tutorialization at a minimum to let the player explore it themselves which is always a tough balancing point, but very glad to hear you liked it. The message hints at the alternate ending, which you can achieve by moving the walls into certain positions (but I won't say more). Thank you for playing!
This was a really fun game and had a very minimalistic but purposeful style.
Great job!
Having played 20 games in this jam, I think this is the coolest use of the theme so far! Moving the walls to solve puzzles is smart and creative, and gave a couple cool scenarios. My favorite was the one where I moved the shelf with the wall, but it often ended up over the hole, so I needed to nudge it a bit, being careful not to make the room dark!
Graphics were simple, but cool. You could push the coolness factor even further, by adding some shader, to make the graphics "pop" more. Then again- the game looks good as it it :)
Sound was good, but a bit of background music would be even better (you can check out https://mobygratis.com/ to get music for your future projects).
As I said- this was the best use of the theme I've seen in this jam so far! Finding the boxes was fun and the game length was perfect for a jam game (maybe a bit longer would be cool. Like two more difficult boxes). I could see this as a "big" release with different rooms that have various rules.
Keep up the great work!
Really happy to hear! Had a lot of fun thinking of puzzles with this mechanic aswell, although it took a lot of time to get them right ;) So it's awesome to read you liked that puzzle.
Music link is very helpfull. I often struggle finding the right audio for my games, but I'll have a look after the jam.
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Great concept. One room, but no one said it had to remain the same size :D
Original puzzle mechanics, great artstyle, especially the palette works great.
In my playthrough one box fell through the floor never to be seen again, so I couldn't complete it. Was good fun though!
Really liked the concept, although sometimes i found myself wanting to speedrun the puzzles and falling in the pits. Art is really cute and fits the idea. As for sound i don't know if it's my laptop's problem but it was sometimes popping when moving the walls, checked youtube, other games and it's fine there, so i'm not sure.
Overall I liked playing the game.
Such a unique idea. Love the concept. It all feels very surreal. This game is begging for some background music.
As others have stated, the CTRL + W thing is a bit of an issue lol. I might suggest E as an interact key. Also, the player character turns frustratingly slowly when carrying a box and I found myself wishing I could move the room more frequently. At first I thought I just hadn't done the right thing to make it move but it was just a long refresh.
Great work on this! Great use of the theme!
I loved the art and the mechanics a lot! The idea of exploring by expanding the room is quite genius XD The movement isn't reactive as I'd hoped, also i found a bug after the player death and respawn, the room was there but the character is gone, i want to screenshot it but i think i accidentally press delete the itch browser tab by pressing ctrl + w XD perhaps it's just me being unlucky found the bug. The Puzzle is a bit hard, some tutorial on the mechanics would help a lot but fortunately i can finish the game on 3rd attempt on replaying it. I would suggest hinting on all the box location but i think the exploring part is important as well.
Overall a fun game indeed, really enjoyed it!
Thank you for playing and sorry to hear about the bug. Defenitely will do more testing next time and yeah the CTRL + W will haunt me forever hahaha. Hinting at the boxes is something I tried, but as you say it felt like it ruined exploration. Nevertheless more guidance would be good. Glad that you finished and enjoyed it!
Great game! Loved how the gameplay was so well integrated with the theme! Moving around the walls felt very smooth and fun and the puzzle aspect was challenging but fair. I didnt manage to complete the whole thing, im not good at such games lol, but i tried my best. It took me a while to understand what the brightness and darnkess did, but i guess that was part of the puzzle. It was a very clever mechanic. Overall great job on this!
Loved the theme usage — one room that grows and shrinks. Clever idea :)
