Game description
WAVY HEAVY.
In this 2D Platformer game, you are an Owl hero with ability of Shockwave powers. Your Shockwaves can destroy anything in their path. Once emitted, Enemies will stop attacking for a brief moment and taking damage. There is Gravitational Waves that could help you reach the higher ground. Meanwhile there is invisible Heatwaves along the way that you should avoid. Defeat enemies, destroy obstacles in your way, and reach finish line.
W/A/S/D : Movement
Space : Jump
X/Left Click : Shockwave attack. If you're near an enemy and emitting Shockwave, they will taking damage, confused, stop attacking you for a brief moment until you approach them again.
V : Throw rocks, only obstacles and props that will taking damage from it.
DISCLAIMER :
- There's a small mistake I made. There should be trails and particle effects in gravitational waves and heatwaves. Because I made this game in Godot 4.5, particle trails are not supported by the default Compatibility renderer used for web builds. So for gravitational waves, there are no trails and the heatwaves are also invisible. Thats why its invisible for now and i made them as a feature :P.
Theme interpretation
Since this is my first game jam ever, where this is my first time of making a game, I came up with the idea for a simple 2D Platformer game where players can attack with Shockwaves. A kind of shockwave that's generated or emitted like the energy of a bomb explosion.
This shockwave can destroy anything in its path, such as props, tiles, and enemies.
There's also a gravitational wave in the game to help players reach higher ground. As for enemies, there are standard enemies that can shoot rocks and also invisible heatwaves that can injure and kill players, which players must avoid.

Neat idea. I like the speedier parts of levels combined with the slidy movement. It reminds me of Super Meat Boy. While the explosion SFX were a lot louder than anything else, the general variety of SFX was nice; most things I expected to have a sound, did in fact have one. The art looks quite good, and I especially like the shockwave effect. Level-based games seem weirdly uncommon in game jams; it's always nice when I come across one.
Cool submission.
Thank you! :D
Interesting idea with a really cute art style. I did have a hard time with the fans though trying to get past them. Also it's really easy to die right at the beginning without knowing what to do. Additionally, I think it might've been the invisible heat wave, but it almost felt like floor poison or that particles from the broken boxes were hitting you. It was a bit confusing without knowing when or where it'd come.
Thank you for the feedback!
Pretty good for a first game jam entry! I liked the idea of destroying blocks with shockwaves, good use of assets and sounds. Not totally sure when I need to throw rocks though because I just ran past everything, reached the flag and level done hehe
Also maybe it was just the compatibility renderer working against your game but it felt like there was a bit of performance issue when I use the shockwaves 🤔
Thank you for the feedback! Yes my game need alot of improvement, especially on performance.
I like the concept! It's enjoyable to destroy the blocks and zoom across the level, and the graphics are pretty nice, especially the wave effect. Though, there are some parts that could use some more work:
Enemies do not turn around, so it's easy to get into their blind spots, or even just walk past them with no problem. Also, I don't know if it's just me but sometimes the wave button just won't work until I reset the game and I got stuck in a few levels because of that. Pressing C to throw rocks also did not work for me.
That being said, for your first game in Godot, this is still really nice! Good work!
Thank you for the feedback!
Yoo we had similar ideas! I loved the way you implemented the shockwaves with shaders and destroying blocks sending physics particles all over the place was a ton of fun! I got confused about why sometimes I was taking damage but then I read your disclaimer and everything made sense... I also wasn't aware of potential compatibility issues and that also caused a little bit of harm in my game but its ok, lesson learned I guess. Anyway, great job!
Yoo, you're right :D. I tried your game, it was fun too! Yeah the heatwaves supposed to show particles, need to work on that in the future. Thank you for the feedback!
The wave effect is super cool and it's pretty satisfying to destroy blocks.
You should implement a way to reset the level, becuase I got softlocked in between a gravitational wave a block and I couldn't use my wave to destroy it.
The Jumping walking physics also needs a little work, maybe make it feel more snappy and less floaty.
Overall really cool idea!
Thank you for the feedback! I will improve it in the future!
cool but i think u should add more impact once the wave effect happens or even knockback if u want, altough for your first game on godot is pretty impressive :D
Thank you! :D
Wave effect is great. At least looks great, it should be more powerfull in my opinion. Good job,
Thank you for the feedback!
Happy to see a new aspiring Godot dev! :D
Please keep in mind that my feedback is mostly technical stuff. You did great for a first game :D
I love that you already managed to implement so many things in your first game! (I sure as heck didn't T.T)
I like your theme interpretation of the "waves" being shockwaves.
It's a bit difficult to use though. I actually had to stop playing because I got softlocked in level 3 (apparently you can only use the mechanic while being on ground)
Also everything freezes when I use the ability. Like, I can't even change my movement. I just have to endure the tween before I can do any new inputs D:
There was also no warning about the floor so at first I didn't really understood what was killing me D:
It felt as if I had to stomp a Goomba five times :(
With all those technical things out of the way:
Very strong first entry! Keep going! We will watch your career with great interest ;)
If you are interested in learning more about Godot I can recommend you a few channels that I used to learn more about the Engine and Game Design in general (or you can check out my games. They are almost all made in Godot ;))
Thank you for the very positive feedback. :D I will improve it in the future!
Cute gaem.
Thanks!
At the beggining I did not know how to play, maybe you could make more clear with some text/tutorial. There is a problem,if you do not use the sockwave, and the enemies are firing at you, you cannot walk, so it is almost impossible to just move without the shockwave. Then I read the instruction in the web page, and I enjoyed playing a couple of levels, it was fun!
Thank you for the feedback!
really fun, good looking game! i loved the mechanic, and it was fun using the shockwave a bunch. the invisible heat waves were a bit annoying because they are invisible, but other than that great submission!
Yes, the heatwaves is supposed to not be invisible, because i made mistake and the particle effect is not rendered for web build. I will fix it in the future. Thanks for the feedback!
Really fun puzzle game! Really impressive mechanics and I really liked your interpretation of the theme, especially thought it was fun to build up speed and bash through obstacles with well timed shockwaves. I think that the movement mechanics were a bit slippery at times, and enemies are very hard to kill, I mostly just ran past them. I think this is a great submission though, especially for a first one time!
Yeah the movement bit slippery and overall aspect needs to be improved in the future. Thank you for the feedback! :)
