very fun

i have one problem with the game

the sound attuidive for the zombies where whacked out

for example: i would here it on one side even though its actually on the other side other then that its a great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feed back. I have placed audio directly in camera, thats why you cant estimate where the zombies are coming form. I will fix that after the jam.

Cool experience! The player model felt really alive and it was fun to force the arms into weird positions.

The gameplay was very intuitive aside from the close button on the shop being extremely detached from the actual shop. Having the player make the shop unavailable before allowing them to start the action is a unique touch. It's almost like an "Are you sure?" but built into the theme/gameplay, which I love.

It was a little jarring that the zombies just completely vanish when you turn off the radio. They should probably stick around without more spawning after you turn it off.

Awesome job on this entry! Good luck in the voting/judging!

Developer

Glad that you like my game. I did have thought about making zombies stay even after turning off the radio but when I implemented it, it became harder to finish the remaining zombies that's why I don't implemented that.

I do not like games with guns

Developer

Thanks for checking out the game and sharing your feedback! I completely understand that the gunplay style isn't for everyone. I appreciate you giving it a try nonetheless.

Nice little zombie shooter game you have here! was fun to shoot at zombies trying to come in through the windows. I loved the artstyle and the animations especially for the player character. THe shooting was also quite satisfying and the UI was quite clean and intuitive.

On the gameplay i felt that adding more variety in terms of either types of enemies or weapons with some sort of upgrade system would definitely add depth to it. I lilked how you had to block the door with the sofa before you called the zombies, but it felt like an unnecessary friction the more i played. The radio mechanic was neat though, well done on that.

Adding a bit of feedback when the house loses help would go a long way in adding polish to it ,something like a simple screenshake would also work and some sfx.

Overall its a nice entry and looks great, A little bit of polish and adding variety in the gameloops would go a long way. Well done :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I like the idea of making Defeating screen more appealing with screenshake and sfx. Also you can upgrade by interacting with door.

Frist of all- the animation is great. You don't see IK used in game jams that often, and here it's used to a great effect. Sound fits too- sounds are clear and intense. I liked it!

The gameplay could use some polish and variety. The game lets you aim up, but there was no reason to do it! Some zombies attacking from the roof maybe? The game could ramp up faster too- make the upgrades cheaper, but the difficulty growth faster! This would keep the player at their toes :)

I found the idea with the radio interesting- in a wave based game you rarely decide when the waves end and start. I think this idea could be developed further. What if the rewards grow as the wave lasts longer? Something to think about :)

Developer

Thanks, I really like the idea of zombies coming from the roof and The amount of drop increase when you last longer.

Overall the graphics, animation and the lighting is excellent! Also the hand drawn bit e.g. [E] is pretty neat. The sound design is also great! I liked the music that the radio plays.

I wish either there was a variety in zombies, or the ammo was cheap. The game could be a lot faster to give a feeling that your house is under attack making the game a bit frantic such as increasing the reload speed.

While the concept is excellent, the game tends to get a bit repetitive after a while. I think it could benefit greatly from relooking at the game economy.

Developer

Thanks for your suggestions, I will definitely improve my game after the gamejam.

Nice consistent artstyle and i liked the shadows when walking past the lamp. Camera movement was a bit hindering sometimes, since it doesn't make you see far enough ahead, so you have to walk very close to a window to see the zombies.

I had a hard time affording enough upgrades and ammo, but that also me just sucking! :D

Cool entry that fits the theme and the consistent vector art gives it its own aesthetic

Developer(+1)

I am glad that you like my style.

Really fun  and visually awesome. I think there is a balancing issue with the prices, really hard to unlock upgrades. Cool game !

Developer

Thanks, I will make the upgrades more affordable after the jam ends.

The gun handling and zombie damage is super satisfying, well done! I somehow feel like the game feels grindy very quick since the ammo price is so steep and there is no way for the player to use less ammo (except for upgrading, but that is part of the grind). Would be super cool if you can get in some upgrades that help with the zombies or assist in other ways. Besides that I really like the art and feel of the game, everything adds up to build a nice atmosphere and make the game feel complete.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I wanted to add a lot more but I didn't had the time, I will add all that in future.

Submitted(+1)

Liked how well it fits the theme. I wasn’t sure what to do when I ran out of ammo, then discovered you can get more through the door. 😅 Nice work!

Developer

Glad you found that, I forgot to mention it in the Instructions.

Anything with zombies is a total win in my book.

I love the art style and the theme of being a survivor defending your house. The gameplay balance felt a bit off to me, though. It reminded me of an old Flash game I used to play called The Last Stand, which has a similar concept.

Anyway, I ended up cheesing the game by turning on the radio, picking off the first zombie, and then turning the radio off again. This let me slowly build up my in-game economy.

Well done on the game!

Developer

I am glad that you like my game.

I really enjoyed it, the art is fantastic! The only thing I’d tweak is having to block the door with the sofa every time before fighting zombies, and needing to stand still whenever I reloadxdd

Developer (2 edits)

It was intentionally added.

The art is an easy 5/5 for me, really lovely style that stands out immediately and is cohesive throughout.  The color choice is excellent and the lighting looks great. The procedural animation was cool and silly and I had fun making the player "dance" around while standing by the radio. Can't say enough good things about the overall aesthetic.

The gameplay loop is a solid one: defend the house, get currency, buy ammo and upgrade your guns. It's a good base for a game and toggling the radio to start and stop the waves of zombies is a neat twist. Shooting the gun feels satisfying, and there's some nice visual and auditory juice that helps out. Unfortunately, I think the currency system needs a bit more balancing. I found myself in a seemingly endless loop of shooting zombies just to buy more ammo  and never being able to afford any upgrades. After 4-5 times of killing as many zombies as I could, and then having to spend basically all my money/scrap on buying new ammo I got discouraged from continuing to play as it didn't seem possible for me to make any further progression. Maybe it was an issue with my playstyle but it took away from the overall experience.

I think you have beautiful visuals with a fun core game  loop that just needs a bit more polishing and balancing of the currency/upgrade systems to bring the game to that next level. Really cool game, keep up the good work!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for pointing that out. I will refine the currency system.

General:

The graphics really stand out. It looks very professional, and the animation is great. It could easily be a mobile game. The theme works for me as well, even though it takes place in a house. At first, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. I only realized you can buy upgrades through the door after reading another comment here. I also couldn’t reload the first time because I didn’t notice the instructions on the title screen. Once both things were clear, I was able to play properly, and it was fun. Maybe you could add a tutorial later on. Like lready mentioned the camera should pan to the direction you are facing.

Graphics:
The colors complement each other well, the menu looks chic, and the UI elements look great too.

Music / Sound:
The sound effects are fitting; the music loop could be a little longer. Atmospherically, it suits the game well.

Theme:
The theme is fulfilled, even though it looks more like a house.

Conclusion:
A simple action game with an upgrade feature and professional-looking graphics and animation.

Developer

Thanks for your suggestions, I will make the instructions more clear.

Submitted(+1)

Great Graphics! One improvement could be making the camera pan forwards in the direction your running so you can see the zombies earlier

Developer (1 edit)

Nice idea, I will add it in future.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game ,

good graphics every thing is fine but it would be better to add score and making it more risky .

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback. I will add a score system in the future update.

Each zombie takes around 5 shots to kill and I cant figure out what to do after running out of bullets (which happens very quick). Love the art and the hand rigging and IK are nice. Nifty little game, but yeah running out of bullets just leads to a loss. What are the coins used for? Also the spatial audio is reversed. Overall: 6/10, good one!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for your feedback. You can buy bullets from opening door. i joined the jam a little late so i wasn't able to figure out some things.

Oh makes, sense. I'll play it again and update my rating for sure.
