I was confused about what to do, and when I died the game just went black. not sure if that’s a bug. Still, I really like the vibe and the creepy flashlight mechanic.
Thanks! The game was supposed to close itself when you die, but the code didn't work, so it's just a black screen. As for the objective, the game is mostly about walking around and seeing cool entities until you find the exit.
i was quite confused with what to do? even after reading the description I still felt unsure if there even was an exit (I see now from some of these comments that there likely was and I just missed it along with the cutscene :( ) so It kinda felt like I was just wandering aimlessly. I really like the effect that was on the splash screens where the block text would fade in fade out and I wish you had used the same effect in game as the light radius I think it would have looked really cool. i didn't love it but its likely I'm not the intended audience :) still well done and hope you stick with it because I can see a potential:)
Thank you! The reason you probably didn't find the exit is because it's supposed to spawn very far away from the player, to give you time to see all the content before you beat the game. The idea is sorta for you to walk around aimlessly and see all the entities and events that can happen.
okay cool i might giveit another go then
The cutscene is the most well made section in the entire game. The gameplay is very good, confusing, and ear exploding. I got lost, screen turn black, and nothing more. This is an absolute psychological horror.
Thank you! The screen turning black most likely means you died, originally it was supposed to close your game when you die but it didn't work for some reason. The only way to restart the game would be refreshing the page.
The game is fun! It's very generous with power-ups.
Thanks!
Not gonna lie, i'm not really into horror games. I wonder why you made it so slow on purpose? Don't know what to do and what to not do to avoid those monsters. At times i wondered if i was walking or just lifting my feet one by one on the same spot.
Nice take on the ambiance
I’m going crazyyy.
I'm not sure if that's good or bad but thanks for playing!
LOVED THISSSS definitely one of my faves from this jam, the creepy abidance is so cool, and the audio effects are grout. the gameplay is really fluid and fun. THE CUTSCENE WAS GREAT!! The black deathscreen is a little confusing, would be good if it just had a "you died" or anything, but read desc and understand its just a slight code error and is mant to turn off lmao. had a great time, all around good game!
Tysm! I will be fixing the deathscreen post-jam for more clarity
Very cool! Good environmental feeling and the minimalist visuals create a good distinction form other games you create and other games that are out there. The issue is with the event that disables the flashlight, makes impossible to continue the game since we can't see anything. I also think adding some texture on the ground will help to have some sense of movement in places where there is no visual distinction. Maybe a snow texture would be cool. I relate this game to some snowy place for some reason. Other suggestion: Add a path trail showing where the player have been. This would help a lot to avoid player to revisit the same places multiple times.
Very cool random level generator! ;)
Want to see the other entities, but i need to survive for enough time!
I really wanted to like this one. Shades of Haunted House and all.. But after about ten minutes of wandering in two sessions, really couldn’t tell what to do. I’m actually not sure both times whether it crashed or I died. The screen went black and unresponsive, and nothing showed in the console.
One low-hanging fruit: You ought to put some texture on the wall edges, or have a moving floor pattern. As is, there’s a lot of times when you can’t tell whether you’re actually moving or not.
I kind of agree. The thing is, the game is pretty slow intentionally, which is why it was boring to you.
I also think I could've made it more clear when you die, but yeah you died.
Thanks for the feedback!
Monster was so scary he broke my flashlight and broke the game 10/10
I suppose it can do that lol.
