Very atmospheric! Got stuck a few times and spun around to the point I couldn't see out of the mirror lol.
Thanks for the comment! yeah the procedural generation is quite jank and cause many issues, sorry!
I like the simplistic but very atmospheric visuals! The first thing I tried to do was (obviously) to drive off road (towards the sea) and I immediately fall off the map, the camera was spinning and only the stars were shining, just like the interstellar 10/10 experience! xD
Some relaxing music or even a music player inside the vehicle would be a nice addition!
Ah ah ah, glad you got fun out of the technical limitation of of my game!
A music player is an intended feature if I can find some artists, stay tuned! =)
A very interesting idea, with some great potential. The repetition of the street lamps definitely captured that almost hypnotic sense you can get when driving for a long journey, add some rain, and windscreen wipers, and it would add a lot of atmosphere to the game. It could really do with a lot more SFX, and some music ( maybe even be able to change radio station ) to help make that cozy vibe.
I did not think about rain! that a great idea! The radio should appears sooner or later, stay tuned! :) Thank you for your comment, I did try to shape the game to be sort of hypnotic! =)
I really like this conceptually, but I think it shouldn't be possible to get off the road if it's just gonna break the game lol, I just phased through the ground.
There also seems to be an issue where if I run into an obstacle I just get stuck permanently. I don't know if it's a collision issue or a velocity not resetting issue, or whatever else, but it didn't feel intentional.
Thank you for sharing
Yeah I know it not the best behaviour to let the player fall of the map, but it was important for me to give the player as much control as possible.
I do assume the game feel being on rail as you can only go forward, I’m refactoring the procedural so it feel more like a solid project and the control given to the player is useful!
Thanks you for your comment! =)
This is an interesting one. I was playing with a keyboard on my laptop, and I'm not the best driver irl (driving makes me anxious XD), so I might not be the best at giving opinions on this one, but I do think it has potential. I managed to crash two times XD I couldn't hear any sounds (might be my fault), and the steering seemed a bit too ubrupt (again, might be my own problem XD). The signals that indicate turns in the road are a bit too close to the crossing, maybe, and I would've liked more diversity in the roads, with more gentle turns or bending? Still would like to see it getting improved!
Thank you for your comment! The main goal is to enjoy the scenery but I did also wish to keep the controls into the player hands, hence why crashes are possible.
The car driving is not the best and it was the first time I created that feature. This inspired me to model the car after the first car I got, the Honda Accord 1987 hatchback, I promise you the actual handling is not that far from what I can remember, so it might not be skills, the car was trash, ahah! the only sound present is the engine…“the engine purr like a kitten”!
I do suggest playing with a controller because pressing a key on a keyboard is “0 or 1” with a controller the thumbstick can range “from 0 to 1” giving smoother turns.
Same with gaz and brake, the “L2,R2” have the same sensitivity, giving more control over the speed of the car.
Also if you download the game, you get vibration on the controller too!
Well, now I'm intrigued. I'm going to try it with a controller asap, and maybe headphones (potential purring is worth it)!
It did feel a little unsettling at first but as the sky got brighter it felt less scary and more relaxing! I do wish the camera movement was a bit easier to figure out...But overall great job ;)
Starting at night gives the feels of mystery of the surrounding, glad the game made you relax! :)
I think the game play better with a controller and the downloaded versions have controller’s vibration which I find quite soothing! =)
This looks lovely and is right up my alley because I find long drives very relaxing. Main crit is it's way too easy to fall off the world, especially when reversing. I kept missing the turn, reversing slightly and then falling off the world (I'm assuming the world is being deleted behind me but it's perhaps disappearing a bit fast). The experience of being in a car plummeting through starry space also kind of rules though so I can't complain. I love having the cat in the car, audio-wise it would also be really fun having radio stations you could switch between with different chill music. Would definitely love to play a more developed version of this concept. Thanks for sharing your project!
Thanks I also enjoy long ride at night because of the peacefulness of it!
Yeah, the world is deleted behind to optimize performance and for the web build to be fluid it was the farthest I could despawn each section.
The side road always come back at the same interval, you can always turn again later.
I’ll also pass the good word to my cat, she voiced the purple cat! =)
The radio should be an upcoming feature! Another jammer suggested her own music and was willing to ask other artists in her network to contribute so it feel like an actual radio station! You can look below for the details, it should be fun!
I like the art and visuals of the game!
Thanks!
Cool vibes! Nice starting point! :D
Thanks! I do enjoy jamming as a learning experience and establishing good vibe is part of that learning!
Neat little prototype. I found myself sticking around because I wanted to see what the world looked like all lit up! Definitely would be cool to expand on this concept with chill music, some gameplay fixes (like not being able to drive off the world) and improved procedural generation. Nice work!
Glad you appreciated your time on the road!
I will consider chill music, it feel to me like a lot of work to find artists that would be willing to showcase their comfy music in my game, but if the opportunity arise I would make a radio feature!
Removing the road was a technical choice to keep the performance fluid on the web build, I think I have an idea how to fix that and the procedural generation to generate more paths, I’ll have to get on that once my schedule clears up a little more!
It's got that old PlayStation game look that I really like, deffo one of those random little games that I'd play for ages.
Although, for the game being about the driving the mechanics definitely needed little fixes as when I attempted to drive straight it would always end up shifting to the left. Also, when I went and drove back the map disappeared and left me endlessly doing backflips in the car lol.
I still think this was neat and quite enjoyed the visuals, I do wish there was music potentially a car radio type thing?
I’m glad you appreciated the concept. as far I looked into it, Godot does not align exactly with the axis in 3D, not sure but I’ll look into it!
The map disappearing was a technical decision, otherwise it would be expensive on resources, I do have solution on the back burner. You can press start to restart.
For the music did think about it, and my conclusion for the jam was that you could start your own music, sorta like choosing your playlist before an actual road trip. But I like the idea of having a radio and would be very open to promote artists within my game!
Ah! I see!
I understand the map loading now, thank you for letting me know!
That makes sense for the music actually to be fair! If you ever turn this into something more it could maybe be a cool addition to feature some indie artists on the radio (hint, hint).
But yeah, totally get it! Had fun overall :)
Sure I’ll keep that in mind! I’ll be more than happy to include your work!
An important detail for me is for it to be a radio I would need at least a few artists.
It is possible to reach me to barnabewild@canalbarnak.ca so if you know other musicians that would be interested (or anyone reading this), feel free to send me an email!
I know a lot that'd be very down!
If you like I could maybe get them to email you down some tracks?
Sure, The least I could do as of right now is credit everyone properly, and I would like to try to voice the host of the radio…
Something like “Welcome to CB 88.8, thank you for being there, next song is < name of Song 01 + artist>,<play song 1>,<song 2>, previously <Name song 2 + artist>, hope your are having a nice drive…
So on and so forth…It would be my attempt to make it feel like a radio station.
that could be sick, yeah!
Can I try with the free songs on your page?
Ah my bad! Forgot about this thread.
Yeah absolutely! If you want more stuff then I'd be down to send downloads for them too :)

yo!!! I just saw the sale :0
thank you so much, I appreciate it
i only started getting time recently, but if you want I can help make stuff specifically for this (talking, fake ads, radio music) just let me know!!
my discord is juuuuuuuuuuuuude
I was curious why the car sounded like a sleeping cat but then I finally figured out how to turn my head and realized why. Good potential here - I played for a bit but only ever got 1 road turn option.
Thank you for your comment! Sadly there is only one turn because it was my first attempts at procedural generation and my assets got misaligned and once it happens, the offset kept getting worse to the point that I did not find a reasonable solution for it within the game jam time constrain. The silver lining is now I know better the logic on how to implement the procedural and I do hope that I can fix this project to offer more paths and landscape to enjoy.
Learning something from a Game Jam is always a great result!
