It's a pretty fun and simple game with a high score implemented, which makes it even awesome. And the music, the polish, it's pretty damn impressive. The game is addictive, and the fact that it was built on its own engine impressed me even more. Well done man.
Wow, thank you for you incredibly kind comment and thanks for playing! Yes I like making music so I always make a new song for every game jam, so it was nice to have you notice that :)
cool game, the fact you made it in your own engine amazes me most !
Oh yay, well yes I've been making this game engine for many years now and now I get to enter all these gamejams using it, which is fun. Thanks for playing!
the game is super simple here what you need to work on :
1 the player can go off the screen and nothing can stop them from getting lost there
2 when the ghost are near to the player the game starts lag and i think it is not on my side or because the game is web build I advise to use file game instead
3 some times the board system is not accurte and bugs a lil to calculate if a gift is saved or not
ovaral great work the idea of the game is clear which I like
Thanks for playing! Yeah I find the game lags on Safari interestingly, so I know there is an issue to deal with there. Thanks for all the feedback!
a simple yet very good game. well done!
Thank you very much! I think I spent the first 2.5 days of the jam just trying to simplify the concept down to try to make the (hopefully) fun part stand out without anything in the way.
not a good game 0 star
What a simple nice game!
Thank you!
Thank you! Yeah the whole game is about optimizing your fort, some people have come up with interesting strategies. Thanks for playing!
The progressive difficulty felt well done to me. The last waves are quite hard, but after a second run it becomes much more manageable. I ended up making things harder for myself by trying to gather the presents together, which left them more exposed.
If you get the chance to try my game again, Iβd really appreciate it, as I noticed you were one of the early players who got stuck in the first part.
Thank you very much for your comment! Yes the game is designed to be played more than once in order to try to beat your high score, and you can try different strategies and techniques for making your fort each time. I realise this doesn't always work for gamejams since people only really play a game one time haha, so it's cool you ended up having a second go. I did try playing your game again as you can see. Thanks for playing mine!
Very nice game! The controls were smooth and it was very fun.
Thank you very much! Yes, I was trying to simplify it all down and have the controls as easy to get into as possible.
Great concept! Really good job with the collision feel; they are very smooth, especially considering how tight the spaces are. A few sound effects would have been the perfect companion to heighten the tension even more.
Thank you! Yes I spent quite a bit of time tuning the physics of the game. The fixed crates are actually circular colliders so you don't need to line up with them perfectly, if you just keep pushing they'll line up your crates for you. I used a proper physics engine for this game because I wanted the grouches to really be pushing down the walls of your fort and for that to feel scary. I completely agree sound effects would be great! Many thanks for playing!
I played a little. It's a calm, cozy game. It captivated me for one session. I'm not sure that the game has potantial for development. You can add character speed upgrades, bonuses, etc.
I didn't really like the graphics.
Thanks for playing! And yeah fair enough, I'm still on my journey with learning how to do artwork, so it's good to get some practice in.
A quick game, not too hard and not too easy. It might be interesting to be able to pick up the barricades and place them, and for the power-ups to respawn, but otherwise I really enjoyed it! Thanks for the experience.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it! I did actually think about being able to pick up the barriers yes! The main reason I chose not to was because I liked how building your for takes up more time because you have to keep walking around to the back of your crate to push it in the direction. I thought it'd be fun for people to constantly choose between fighting the current set of monsters vs building the fort for the future monsters, because there's not enough time to do both. I kept tuning the timings up and down during the gamejam so that you could only just get your fort complete in time for when the difficulty starts to ramp up and the monsters start attacking from all sides. Anyway, that's probably more than you wanted to know about but yes it was something I had considered and thought it was an interesting game design decision point.
Thanks for playing! And also great job on doing all the ratings too, I think I've seen your comments on many other games too, which is great :)
