Theme interpretation and application
I tried to base the whole game around the sprint mechanic, and it only uses one button for all abilities. Then I tried for a minimalist art style

This is very pretty and cool. I agree with some earlier comments that the first area was rather frustrating, it’s so bright that it was really hard to see anything, and especially to orient yourself, but it gets a lot better once you get the three themed areas, both visually and structurally. I like the structure of the world quite a lot, with the three separate branches that each have their own sub-objectives that culminate in the ending. I encountered some minor glitches occasionally (flickering textures, got stuck in a corner once) and some things lack polish in a noticeable way compared to how pretty the rest of the game is (notably the bubbles disappearing) but overall this is an excellent 3D Metroidvania. Loved the ending.
Clean. Thoughtful level design. Open areas ripe for exploration. Differing environments while adhering to simplicity. And the little notes! Reminiscent of Sky and Journey, which worked wonderfully. Well done!
I really like this one. The character design is particularly great - reminiscent of Journey - and I especially love the ledge grab. Generally the minimal art style works well, however there are times when there isn't enough contrast between the character and the floor or the floor of the platform you're on and the floor below. This is especially noticeable in the starting area but eases up once you get other types of floors. Using treadmills to open doors and control platforms is quirky and cool.
The character controller feels good to me and you can get into a nice flow state in some of the areas that feels great. I like the idea of the abilities all being variations on the sprint and this fits the theme really well.
The music is very chill and minimalist but maybe there could be some more sounds and what's there could be mixed a bit higher.
There seems to be no way to arbitrarily recapture the mouse and there's an issue on Firefox where the camera constantly moves (but this does not effect Chrome).
Generally a great jam game that I would be interested to see developed further.
Very pretty entry, very pretty ending!! I think you nailed the theme with the minimalist visuals / audio and only 2 actions buttons.
The minimalist environments were a little rough to navigate, mainly in the opening area. All the white surfaces kind of blend together, particular in one room where you need to make a sprinting jump over a gap in a bridge, and it's very hard to tell where the gap begins, so it's easy to just run clean off. I was afraid I was going to get lost, but there seem to be multiple paths leading to each upgrade, so it was never much of an issue.
I appreciate having full air control when jumping, but it did make the character feel a little weightless. This might match with the general ethereal vibe, but it maybe wasn't the most satisfying for me. A little bit of inertia / momentum when jumping may have felt better to me. And like a few other folks have mentioned, the wall run is cool but a little too easy to abuse and just bypass platforming challenges completely.
I like the idea of the infections, but cleansing them didn't really seem to do anything? They provide a neat visual contrast, but I'm not sure what their function was besides flavor. And more than once, I would still get hit by something invisible even after destroying them, I don't know if there were still colliders hanging around that didn't get deactivated.
The ending was really pretty and surprising as I tried to use the final ability. Good job and I hope you keep working on the game!
Finished it! This is one of my favorites and I loved it.
The movement is crisp, precise, fast and simple, just like the environment, which I thoroughly enjoyed too. It's crazy what you can do with basic shapes and colors. Ambience was awesome and I felt pretty relaxed playing the game. Also, coyote time? Very nice attention to detail and a definite proof of thoughtfulness in making platformers. I cheer very loudly for this game.
I feel like if the movement mechanics were significantly more polished this may have been my favorite of this jam. It reminded me of A Hat in Time's rift levels combined with one of those relaxing walking simulator platformers, which I think is an awesome combo. There's a lot of potential here, but the janky and unpolished animations and movement mechanics took a lot out of it. If there was more polish, the moves felt more natural and like momentum was conserved in the character and there was a more cohesive and pretty world with lots of levels around it, I would absolutely buy and play the crap out of it.
Overall this was a really great. I really like the art style and the modeling. The camera was a bit tricky to control with analog sticks as it feels a bit inverted for up and down. I couldn't really get the camera to follow behind me. I had to refresh the page and was given the opportunity to continue which responed in a completely different point in the game.
The art direction is fantastic and perfectly fits the theme. Great work ! I like where you were going with the SFX for footsteps, but I feel like they were not loud enough. There was also some missing for certain actions.
Regarding level design, there were distinct areas. However, it was hard to navigate and understand where I was.
Gameplay wise, the wall run is way too strong and negates most platforming challenges once you get it. I had fun with the movement overall though.
Props on the functioning save system !
Overall, I'd say this is a pretty good entry ! Good job !
I really love the art style and the way how you open the gates is funny and refreshing. However: I played the game in the browser and the camera was constantly moving. After a few seconds this already made me nauseous, which is sad, because I enjoyed playing the game. Also sometimes the reflections of the walls are very bright, to a point where it is difficult to look at the screen.
Still sprinting and moving felt good most of the time,
Cool Game! (Please don't take the criticism too harshly.)
I love your game and my criticisms are only because I like it so much! 1) I think your platforming is way too tight. It doesn't feel like there is any coyote time or room for forgiveness. A jump or two like that is fine but still. 2) The minimalism is there but there are times where I'm blinded by the light or the character blends in super hard to the environment. Maybe make the world a tad different? I don't want to say more grey but maybe less super bright white areas 3) The wall run is too powerful. I was able to skip all other abilities with it by corner jumping and just sprinting across rooms lol 4) And finally I have no idea how to end the game. I thought i was removing the infections but they kept popping back up in certain spots.
looks cool! very fluid player, although the camera is a little clunky. Very impressive for godot too, I didn't know you could do this type of stuff! I really like the little treadmills, I didn't expect an ability like that and it was awesome lol. Only other thing was the moving walls were kind of glitchy when using the treadmill, the textures were glitching out a little. One of my faves so far though!
great vibe, looks awesome
