Despite the Itch.io “suspicious account” warning, I did download and try the game after doing some checks to make sure it was safe (confirming it was a standard Godot build, idk why its being flagged on itch??). That warning was definitely intimidating at first, though, and took some effort to feel comfortable launching the game. (not on you tho, hope they get rid of that warning)

Unfortunately, I got stuck very early on. Some rectangular gates let me pass while others were solid, with no clear indication of why, which made progression confusing. I assumed they were tied to defeating enemies, but after slowly clearing the first few (they felt quite tanky for early-game enemies, and mashing CTRL felt like an odd choice), they simply respawned and I wasn’t sure how to move forward. I really like the art style and think there’s potential here, but some bug fixing, clearer progression cues, and general polish would go a long way!

Pretty nice concept! Loved the idea of the samurai cat. Unfortunatly i get stuck in the very beggining, that first enemiers activate a blue barrier that i could no turn off. Killing the enemies only made then respaw, so was not able to continue beyong that. But the concepts are very fun, if you keep working on it you can make a very fun game!

I also would be very happy if you can rate my game too, i am looking for more ratings before the JAM ends.

I think the game has an interesting concept! I liked how a lantern is needed to explore the dark areas, but the combat felt a bit punishing due to high enemy health, multiple combat phases, and controls that felt difficult to manage during busy phases.

A few quick notes on the "Left Shift" to spawn projectiles: it’s a cool idea for ranged combat, but it’s currently challenging to use because each projectile stays in place, harms the player, and occasionally spawns behind you. Since the sword ability stopped working for me at one point, I had to rely on these projectiles to progress. I noticed the projectile ability wasn't in the control list, so perhaps it's still a work in progress? With some additional polish,  balance tuning, and bug fixes, I think the core gameplay loop here could be very strong!

Despite the Itch.io "suspicious account" warning I did download the game and give it a try. I did a number of checks to confirm to the best of my ability that it was just a standard Godot release, saw that you also had another game and a Steam page with a game in a similar art style, and ran the game with my computer offline just to be sure, but yeah.

Unfortunately I got stuck very quickly - Some of the rectangular gates seemed to let me through and others were solid with no indication of which were which or why that was happening  - I thought they were gates that forced me to beat a certain number of enemies but after clearing the first three enemies painstakingly slowly (for the first enemies in the game they sure have a lot of health and also forcing the player to mash CTRL is an...interesting design decision), they just respawned and I felt stuck.

I was able to sneak between two trees to the upper area and get the lantern but once I did the gray box again trapped me inside with seemingly no way back. I separately tried to go into the devil circle and basically died instantly twice from things I couldn't see. I'm afraid that's where my journey with Meekbart ended

All that said the art is very cute and with some polish and game feel changes (and with a different control scheme...please) I'd love to see you build this out further!

Thanks for trying the game, and thank you for your thoughtful feedback.

I was definitely a bit crunched for time, and as you've pointed out there are quite a few areas which need additional attention. I'll try to incorporate your advice into an update when I get a chance.

Once you have the lantern, you should be able to navigate the dark forest a bit more readily. Anyways, I'll see if I can polish it all a bit and release an update (and make the controls a bit more sensible too!)
