Nooooo! I was just fighting the final boss I think? (In Graveyard) And I was shooting and then the game kicked me out or it was a bug?...Its my fault for not reading the web version message ><

It´s one of my favorite 2D entries that´s for sure! The mechanics, the BADASS MUSIC, The Graveyard area oh man, I really had fun with this one, might give it another try later with the downloadable build.

Getting to know mechanics and learning what you could do with them hence opening new paths was really interesting, . In total I found 4 abilities, Anchor, Boost Cannon & Submarine. (Im not sure if it crashed at the end with the final boss, perhaps theres more content after that boss).

I just think for feedback the Anchor Bounce could be more forgiving in its input (Letting you press it with more time after the acnhor hits the ground).

The aesthetics of the game are farily unique, I specially loved... those suprises in the Graveyard haha.

Oh no! That was indeed the final boss! I'm sorry that happened, it's been happening to a lot of people unfortunately, even on the download version :(. I've fixed this issue already but I can't update it yet obviously. But I'm really glad you liked everything else!! Thanks for playing!

Sneaky good with a game that elevates throughout the underworld.  Pay attention to the logbooks that are informative and have brilliant intent and meaning.  The music is fantastic and original and keeps excellent pace with the game progression.  The Titanic was my iceberg on many occasions!  Well done and keep up the unique content!

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!

Damn solid. I especially loved the music, worldbuilding and last act. It has everything a metroidvania needs, with great relevance to the theme. Everything is built so solid that I only have nitpicks. The camera feels stiff and fights against the cursor, controller support would've been nice, plus the web version suffers from missing glyphs in the font.

A complete, bite-sized package! Love to see it!

Developer

Wow thanks for the kind words! I definitely agree that the camera could be improved! I like the idea of it following the cursor, but I'll definitely try to strike a balance. Controller support will definitely come in the post-jam update. Thanks for playing!

Enjoyment 4 - Pretty good stuff all around. Some rough edges here and there! It is not fun being owned by something on a timer with no clear way to reset the timer and not much way to see the thing (that may have been exacerbated by the game starting up on the least ideal monitor for its purposes.)

Execution 3.5->4 - pls make windowed mode actually mean something or don't offer it. I didn't have the screen real estate to move the game to another better-for-it-monitor even in windowed

Sensory 4/5 - Graphics weren't my thing but they're certainly not bad. Props for hand-recorded music. Very impressed.

Metroidvania 5/5 - Honestly solid and one of the more unique interpretations I've seen of genre staples in an MVM game.

Minimalist theming 4.5 -> 4/5 - stated goals pretty well accomplished, felt a little 'off' in spirit? hard to say for sure because these things can be subjective!

Fair point about the timer (I assume you're talking about the Graveyard section), I definitely feel like I should've tried to make things more clear. I did include a logbook before hand to explain how it works a little, but I can definitely make it make sense more. About the monitor- yeah the game is kind of messed up on any resolution that's not 1920x1080- sorry about that! i didn't have time to add those settings unfortunately, but it will definitely be improved upon in the post-jam update. And the artsyle admittedly could use some work, I'm not really an artist, I was just trying to abide by the Theme :). Thanks for playing though and the detailed write up!

cool entry I seemed to get stuck in the water at one point after messing with the anchor to reach a lower point which was frustrating as was enjoying it up to then, but there is much to applaud on what I played, especially as the game feels like you are trying something a little different especially with the core movement, (far harder to get playing well, than well trodden path of the usual platformer mechanics). The bird that turns into a killer triangle got me a couple of times!

Developer

I'm glad you liked the movement and the game! Sorry to hear about you getting stuck, I actually added a failsafe for that happening in the 24-hour patch but I somehow accidentally removed it before pushing the update, I'm still not sure how it happened ;(. But thanks for playing regardless!

Lovely game, lovely art, pretty badass music, only critique is the movement is a bit slower for me, and the framerate is a bit low , sometimes the screen gets a bit jittery[I assume is due to my potato laptop]

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! Interesting point about the movement. I added some speed pickups around the map that hopefully would help with that, but I can definitely look into tweaking that. As for the frame rate, good to know! The game probably isn’t the best optimized with everything being on one map. But I will ask, were you playing on the web version? I’ve had a lot of people tell me they’ve had problems playing  the web version, unfortunately. Thanks for playing!

The movement mechanic of the game is very unique and the music causes great athosmphere. The only ciritque is that the game world seems to be a bit empty. Nonetheless: cool jam entry!

Developer(+1)

Yeah good point, I wanted to add more bosses and enemies but I ran out of time! But I’m glad you like the movement and atmosphere! It’s definitely what I spent the longest doing haha. Thanks for playing !

I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed this game, has solid pacing and design. The controls are really unique the fact that you maneuver a ship using the anchor mechanic. Well done^^

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

Does that boat have wheels? Captain what the heck?

Very creative overall design! The upgrades were awesome and fitting, though sometimes it felt like they worked against each other. For instance, not being able to jump while boosting. I also have a gripe with the anchor. Enabling it using the same button as jumping feels counterintuitive - one wants to bring you upwards, the other brings you downwards, and at times when the natural instinct would be to press jump to go upwards, like underwater,  you get dragged downwards. Apart from the technical stuff, the art was very fitting of the theme, although it sometimes ended up being confusing to separate foreground from background. It took me a while to understand what was happening in the Graveyard, but when I understood, boy did that area click! Lovely atmosphere and the idea of being hunted is awesome. Solid work overall!

Developer

I'm really glad you liked it! You actually can jump while boosting, but I admit it sometimes doesn't work like it should 100% of the time haha. Fair point about the anchor! I could definitely make it more intuitive in a future update. Thanks for playing!
