This was fun! Really liked the art and the main concept was super cool. It was fun trying to solve all the puzzles and figure out what was real and what wasn't. Fit the theme really well. I felt very satisfied shooting the mimic in the last room.
I must confess, I found the final treasure by walking around the room spamming the interact button. If you expand on this game further, I wonder if something could be done to prevent that tactic from working. Not sure what though, and also not even sure if that's a problem (b/c I had fun regardless and thought it was funny finding the treasure like that haha!)
I also encountered the bug borot described (with the initial window being super zoomed in) and had to zoom my browser in to get the game to display. Figured I'd let you know. Maybe activating itch's fullscreen button for the game could help w/ that. I occasionally get a similar bug when I'm testing godot builds on mac for some reason, and normally have to solve it by going in and out of fullscreen for some reason.
Great job on this game! Super cool idea and execution!
I like the way the game feels to play, and the headphone test + tutorial add a nice level of polish to things!
Requiring headphones limits your potential player base, but that's probably okay for an experimental jam game vs something you want to make more commercial.
There are quite a lot of elements to learn about in a short span of time at the beginning - it was a little overwhelming at first but made more sense the second time around. Adding a new tutorial room to demonstrate doors would definitely help. Speaking of doors: the high-pitched creaking door sound is quite unpleasant - it made me sort of dread closing my eyes, so I'd consider changing that if you continue working on this.
All that said, I love the art style and there's some cool strategy to play with (e.g. positioning yourself in a certain spot to see if an enemy is truly on the left or right). The headphone test and tutorial gave me a really good first impression too - it's a really nice added level of polish.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I have to admit the creaking sound is also my least favorite, though tbf these types of sounds are a bit unpleasant in general. I probably should have mentioned the door mechanics in the tutorial, I kinda forgot about it since I didn't want to make the tutorial longer than it needs to me.
It was interesting and a bit confusing.
Hi, thanks for the comment, sorry to hear that it was confusing, I hope you were able to beat anyways.
Cool concept, I think that the mechanics have a lot of potential :)
not sure what happened because all the other Godot games work fine for me, but all I can see is :-(
Try to zoom in your browser's window by doing ctrl + plus button or ctrl + mouse wheel up, it should fix the scaling issue
I've never seen this before, works perfectly fine for me, did you press some weird buttons before this? Also this looks like fullscreen or smth
nope, it just looks like this, I tried it in both firefox and chrome to double check. zooming in to 200% (like TheThirdWay Games said) fixes the issue
now that I got it working: I like the idea, it feels good to play and requires some strategy. the tutorial is nice and clear, though it’d be even better if you could skip it after dying and replaying. listening to the doors is kind of pointless, since if they don’t require a key you can just walk through, but the chests and enemies work well.
I don’t know if this is a bug or I’m doing something wrong, I’m stuck because there’s one locked door that I can’t open even though I have a key, and one passageway that I can’t walk through/there’s an invisible wall in the way:
also the first time I played I somehow went back to the first room just as the tutorial started, which softlocked me:
bugs(?) aside I really enjoyed this, I could imagine it being turned into a full length game
Hi! Thanks for playing the game. I appologize for that bug, I guess I didn't have time to go through everything.
Listening to doors is not pointless, since not all doors you see are necessarily real, you are supposed to listen for them. All of those doors in the screenshots are fake. Listening to doors and other objects is actually very important for progressing the game.
aah okay, I interpreted the tutorial as “check if the door is real so you don’t waste your keys”, similarly to how right before that it teaches you to check for real enemies so you don’t waste bullets. I didn’t realize it could also affect visibility, that makes a lot more sense.
Yeah sorry for the confusion, ig I should've been more clear in the tutorial.
There is actually a door in the room on the left of the first room, it's somewhere at the left end, you can listen for it and it will make a wind rustling sound.
I like the concept and interactive tutorial. Nice job!
