at first, i got some trouble with the webgame because it do not lock your mouse, so i felt off. I like the Mechanic, but its really hard XD
Yeah, I don't know why the web version doesn't capture the mouse, on desktop it does it just fine. Thanks for playing though!
The game looks great and has a nice flow, even if the difficulty is a bit high. It takes a second to get used to, but itβs fun.
Haha, the difficulty is definitely the biggest problem of the game. But thanks for playing anyway!
This climbing game felt surprisingly relaxing to me. The controls work really well, and because of that it never felt frustrating like many other climbing games. I actually want to come back and play more when I have time.
The gameplay feels solid and smooth, and the overall experience is calm despite the tense theme. Overall, a nicely designed entry where good controls make all the difference.
Thanks a lot for the kind words! And yeah, the game is pretty relaxing when you're not trying to go as fast as possible because the stamina system is fairly forgiving. I tried to make it so the player could take their time, while still adding a bit of a restriction, so I'm glad it turned out well. Thanks for playing!
The most impressive part of this entry is how it caused my palms to sweat very quickly. This is an impressive feat, especially considering the low-res PS1 aesthetic. Masterful work, my friend.
Haha, climbing games always do that to me too, climbing just makes me nervous I guess lol. Thanks for playing!
glad to see someone went with the growing infection theme, that was my runner up when i was brainstorming
amazing visuals and i love the sound design, gameplay is beyond my skill level but i still had fun !
good job :]
Thanks! I wish I was able to incorporate the theme more, especially before the transition door, because I could have done so much more with it. But, thanks for playing anyway!
This game is fun with a very creative concept. The visuals and audio are very striking and atmospheric. Controls work well, but I do agree with others about the lack of checkpoints, I genuinely wanted to beat it, but skill issue got the better of me. Great work though!
Yeah it seems the difficulty is a bit of an issue lol, thanks for playing though!
Thanks for playing!
This is so similar to white knuckle. I just wish you could control each hand individually. But good job!
Thanks! I wanted to make it so you could control both hands, but didn't think I could do that and the rest of the game in just a week. Thanks for playing though!
this game is awesome!! graphics, gameplay, everything! but it was a bit too difficult for me, and the fact that u couldnt stand on those metal bars made it even more difficult
Thanks! And yeah the game is a bit too hard as it is, I probably should've added more checkpoints in. And maybe I made the bars look too thick and sturdy or something, I didn't think people would try to stand on them. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Oh, playing this was really fun, but I had trouble repeating the same sequence dozens of times, hehe... Maybe I'm sounding like an IGN journalist, but I think it lacked some save points that would have made the player's life easier, but apart from that, your game is really cool and BEAUTIFUL. Overall, it's an excellent job, congratulations!
Haha no, more checkpoints is a good point. I also realised some of the sequences were too long, but by the time that I realised that, I didn't have nearly enough time to redesign the level so had to leave it in the end. Thanks for playing!
I played the web version and I'm not sure why, but my camera kept on flicking around, which made it very difficult to navigate. Maybe use different materials/color shades for climbable objects, so that the player doesn't get confused with what he can climb. You are able to walk on some objects and on others you can't, this slightly disrupts the game flow. Besides that, nice ambience and great level design :D!
Yeah there's a weird bug with 3D Godot web exports where the mouse will just randomly flick around sometimes, I have no clue why so I might have to look into that. Good point with the materials. I felt like it was fairly obvious what you could and couldn't walk on, but maybe I needed to communicate that better. Anyway, thanks for playing!
The controls are really bad and bring down what is a pretty decent little climbing game
Thanks for the feedback, could you tell me more about why the controls felt bad to you?
If you jump but do not release LMB you will not grab anything unless you release it first (though that one is because I thought you could hold LMB to grab stuff as soon as it was possible to grab something)
The grab range I personally thought was surprisingly short and I sometimes was unable to judge if something was in range and/or possible to grab (having like a transparent version of the hands show up on whatever thing that you can grab if you aim your mouse at it or something)
Making it possible to set mouse sensitivity wouldve been awesome
Not being able to grab things after jumping is, like you said, to stop the player from being able to immediately grab onto what they just jumped from. I probably should have put a timer on it so it allows you to grab something after like half a second of holding grab down though. And yeah I wanted to add something similar to a transparent set of hands to let you know if something is in range because it does get a bit annoying. Unfortunately I didn't get the time to add that one. I'll keep this in mind for the future though, thanks for the feedback!
This is super fun! Great controls and ambience, definitely has that white knuckle feel.
Thanks! I think the vertex wobble shader almost gave me more trouble than it was worth lol. Thanks for playing!
Cool game! It has a really cool feel to it, and I had a lot of fun swinging and climbing :)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the climbing and movement.
Cool Game! For Game Jam games I believe you always benefit from having a tutorial just so it makes it a little easier to figure out all the different controls, but amazing stuff regardless!
Thanks! I try to have tutorials baked into the game to avoid info dumps and make learning the game more natural, but I didn't have the time to really tweak the tutorial for this one unfortunately. Also I just don't like doing title screens for jam games lol. Thanks for playing though!
