Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We interpreted the image as “Connection” / “Giving Life” (due to the painting reference).
The theme “Giving Life” is best presented in the narrative: we try to convey the idea of lost souls giving life to a dead tree outside the cave, acting as a symbolism to “freeing” the lost souls in the world, giving it meaning/life again.
The connection itself is represented visually by the connection between Alma and Lumi as they work together to achieve their goal- leave the cave while helping the lost souls inside find their way out too. Mechanically the theme is shown by their connection: the star cannot move without a “physical body” connected to her, while Alma doesn’t have great mobility without the star’s help. As such, both have a connection and must work together to escape.

Beautiful artistic vision! The combination of hand-drawn 2D characters with 3D environments creates a unique and atmospheric experience. The cooperative gameplay mechanics between Alma and Lumi are really creative, and the theme of giving life to lost souls is both touching and well-executed. Great work on a 72-hour jam project!

Pretty beautiful art and music, love this vibe of your game!.Maybe the movement of the camera can be better designed,  but I know this gonna be hard for a 2 weeks game design hhh. Nice job!

Actually 3 days,  we didn't work earlier cause of the holidays haha, but yes I agree! There is missing a ton of UX polish. Thanks for your feedback and hope you at least had fun!

Really cool movement system and great character design! Those crystals have really tough hitboxes though...

Hahaha yes, that might be my fault, the main programmer, I thought it was too forgiving and change them to be tougher, guess its better to be forgiving than strict in 2d sprites , learnt something new! Thanks for your feedback and hope you had fun!

I did!

The physics mechanic of pushing and pulling felt good, but I wish there was a visual for the cooldown, to show us how long we have before we're able to push/pull again.  Overall, nice take on the theme and really cool art style! I'm a sucker for games that combine 2D and 3D elements and you did that well.

Developer

Yeah we missed on that UI polish aspect. But thanks for your feedback and time and hope you had fun!

Good work! The art style is beautiful, the mechanic performance is on point, and I think the learning curve of the controls, together with the level design built around them, creates a very interesting interpretation on the theme. Thank you for making this game!

Developer

Thanks a lot for you feedback and hope you had fun!

Very charming little game! I'm not sure if it was a tech or skill issue on my end but I feel like the star mechanic was not always 100% responsive lmao. Either way, neat movement mechanic, and I'd love to see where else something like this could go!

Developer

Yeah, we did not have time do add an UI to show the "cooldowns" , so it is something that missed yes. But thank you for your time and hope you had fun!

Cool little game, artstyle is pretty unique, I liked it. The mechanics without explanation about controls in game feel daunting a bit, then when you check the game page you kinda get an understanding of what's going on. Music is alright! Bit repetitive but fits the tone great! Nice job

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback and I totally agree! We didn't have time to make some progression or controls menu in the game sadly :c , but thanks anyways for trying it out and for your time!

Neat game! Pretty unique combination of mechanics that took me a while to get the hang of. The hit boxes on those red crystals are so punishing lol. But overall quite fun

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, the hitboxes were quite tricky due to the roundness of the character and missing spikes in the corners for box colliders. But dispite that thanks for your time and hope you had fun!
