The music in this game is a real jam!  You've got great feedback on how well the player hit the beat, and I really like how the clouds and turning of the camera are meant to make the game a bit harder!

I came from your post asking for feedback on the difficulty.  I think the input window is probably fine, but before you tweak that that what the game really needs is some visual representation of when the player needs to press a button.  At least a line on each side to show where the beat is.  The start of the song is manageable, but the pattern changes suddenly without warning and after the change the player has no way of knowing when they need to hit their buttons, only that they're missing inputs they don't know about.  After playing a few times I can tell the inputs line up roughly with the melody of the song, but even then it was hard to hit them.

After you get some visual UI then you can really test the difficulty of the game, and it'll let you introduce new elements like holds or  rapid taps!

Awesome job!

Thanks for the feedback, some of your ideas helped me out. So I've added two things to help the player out, I've added lines on each side to help the player know when to press. I've also made the wave particles change based on its state, Green for slow speed, Blue for when it is about to change speeds soon, and Red for fast speed.

Just gave it a replay, much much better instantly.  I was able to get a great streak going before the spinning started.  Good work!

A good idea but it is too hard. Maybe because predicting the wave motion is almost impossible. A common solution is to give the player a visual cue when to hit the correct note, like in Guitar Hero. The music is very good, by the way.

Based on your feedback, I have updated the game to provide some help for both predicting the waves motion and give a visual cue for the player. I have added two black lines on each side to help the player know when to press. I've also made the wave particles change based on its state, Green for slow speed, Blue for when it is about to change speeds soon, and Red for fast speed. Looking out for blue will allow the player to predict when the speeds will switch.

Much better now. Another possible improvement would be to have shorter levels. Adding more milestones could make the player feel more motivated to try to reach the next goal. Anyway, it looks awsome!

This was a really fun game! It deserves 5 stars. Good Job!

Very creative idea, great work!

I think the timing needs to me much more forgiving. I’d say I have pretty good sense of rhythm and yet I found it incredibly difficult to hit the beat timings.

Nice work, continue to grow and challenge yourself!

This got crazy when it started spinning upside down!

Really creative entry, art and sound assets were great and controls felt responsive.

I think leaderboards or user-uploadable tracks would work great with this format!

Yay, this game reminded me of how awful I am at rhythm hahah. Maybe I'll come back to it to see if I can find the groove. I agree with the others a UI indicator would have been helpful to know when the rhythm shifts are coming, or if there was like a buffer animation during which I didn't need to have any key presses.

Skill issues aside through this looks and plays very solid, nice work!

Developer

With the jam being over, I am free to update the game and give an indicator for when rhythm shifts are incoming. The wave particles now change color according to the state it is in, Green for slow speed, Blue for when it will transition speeds next key press, and Red for fast speed. Hope this helps

Nice game! Although i keep messing the change of rythm part. It is too hard to know when it'll change and for how long. Great job

I've updated the game to help players deal with the changing of the rhythm sections. The wave particle now changes color depending on what rhythm it is in and if it will change. It now turns Green on slow speed, Blue when about to change rhythm soon, and Red on fast speed. If you have time, give the new changes a try.

Very cool idea, I do wish the times where it shook up the rhythm inputs were more clear on when they were coming up, usually by the time they happened it was hard to catch up with what it was wanting me to do.

Developer

I've added a new indicator for players to let them know when the rhythm inputs are coming. The wave particle now changes colors based on the state it is in, Green for slow particle, Blue for when it will transition states soon, and Red for fast particle. I didn't change the timing of the transitions, so they might still be too fast, but you will see them coming now when the particles are blue.
