Loved the archer special ability
this is such a good game!!!!
I love this game and the way you guys used the theme of the jam. I love how each era has a different playable character each with their own unique primary and ability. I was happy to return to monke great game.
im so scared of planet of the apes you don't even know -- but i love the concept of the game and sfx/visual juice was awesome. i did encounter a bug though where in the first area i had one of the enemies get stuck on the outside... so he couldn't come and i couldn't shoot him
other than that, great job!!
Hi, thank you for your feedback. I am happy you enjoyed the game ❤️
It is really rare that the enemies spawn on the outside, like it never happened to me during the 50 hours I spent developing it. If they do spawn outside, the grenade can actually be thrown outside the walls to blow them up.
5/5 in every category! This was great and I think this deserves to be the jam winner! Everything from the humor to the sfx to the visuals... everything was very well done.
Why am I so sad to finish a game? T-T. I see a winner! Awesome game! Amazing game! Good job! I have no words to put here!
Very cool! finally played this one lol
This game is simple to play and fun, so i will just nitpick some feedback or else my comment is going to be really short xd
The pixel size inconsistencies bother me a bit, like the changing art style and size of pixels between sprites
(Idk if you used assets or had multiple artists, but its not that big of a deal and just polish stuff for a jam game)
Not really a feedback but i find it funny that the first thing the character does when he gets fired is kill everyone, its debatable if hes even the hero lol
Hi thanks for playing the game and giving us your feedback!
To reply, yes we used multiple different assets for the different eras. That was done to save us a lot of time 😅
As for the main character killing everyone, they just REALLY REALLY wanted to return to simpler times 🤣We made the story goofy on purpose.
The difference in our skill is noticeable! One thing ... I don't know if it was a bug or the game ended but at 19 kills i was all alone! :'(
Hi I've encountered that bug before. I am actually not sure why that happens. My suspicions is that when you die on the modern stage, and replay the game, only 19 enemies spawn. I am unsure as why that is the case, as it works fine for every other era. If that happens to you, just refresh the game 😅
Yes that's what i did... But i didn't die. I just got hit one time
Clearly a project done with passion! Impressive entry.
My only concern is the heavy/intense camera shake; otherwise, everything is spot on! 👍👍🏾
ahah for my next game I'll add an option to reduce/turnoff camera shake. I think I just played the game too much that I grew used to the shake. Thanks for the feedback ❤️
I really like the game it feels really polish
I didn't realize there are skills till the last chapter, dash could be useful but the monke ability is good for that too. feels polished, good job
wow you cleared the stages without the abilities. Pure skill 👀
Dash was in the ideas for the games, as it would open more opportunities for different styles of play, but the scope creep ... 😔
Yeah I understand :D I used the abitliies in the last fight
RETURN TO MONKE.
Simple and effective. I found it funny and well polished. But when enemies spawn they often completely surround the player in a pretty annoying way. Something like a dodge could be uselful in that sense. Else it was really good to play :)
Hi thank you for your feedback :D
If we had more time to polish the game more, we would create a more visible indicator for the enemy spawns so that the player can see where they are spawning from. Getting swarmed though, is part of the game 😂
Its cool that each era gives you a different weapon and attack. The caveman boss should be given at least a unique attack id say. You can try out my game if your interested to.
I like the game but its quite buggy. The first boss gets stuck in a car. I get stuck in a wall (era 2) and get killed. But the game is fast, has a REALLY GOOD concept and is pretty nice overall. Great job!
Every aspect is well done, imo you may have less enemies before the boss fight to make the gameplay more concrete :)
This is a really good game! There are a few gameplay oddities that need to be sorted out but overall this is a very polished and creative result.
Cool game! The intro sequence was great and I liked the music a lot.
Things I liked:
- Strong connection to the theme
- Very good art, music, SFX and VFX (though SFX are pretty laggy, at least in the web version)
- Simply but addicting gameplay
Things that need improvement in my opinion:
- Enemy variety (at least any with ranged attacks), as most just run after you and do damage on contact and can be avoided easily
- Might need a couple more gameplay mechanics (for example, dodging would be great here)
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah I agree that the gameplay is lacking in terms of variety but we did what we could in the time that we had. Originally the game did not even had any bosses 👀
As for gameplay mechanics, we wanted to keep the game simple to avoid scope creep.
This game is one of the best at creatively applying the theme, along with Last Amber. I like it quite a bit, and it must have been challenging to create various types of Spies across different eras, with different weapon types and everything else. However, in some levels, there are far too many enemies to deal with, and they end up cornering you. But I still enjoyed it.
Thank you for your feedback :D Simpler Times = Return to MONKE!
We tried balancing the amount of enemies with the player's attack power and found it to be easy to beat, but not boring to beat. The game is not challenging by any means, but a sense of danger was what we were going for with the enemy count. Some stages required different strategies to beat, and good timing of your abilities.
