Connection to the theme (short sentence)
Inspired by Fruit Ninja which I used to enjoy playing, plus has a retro aesthetic with the sfx, music and a leaderboard, like an old arcade

unexpected good entry!  from the cover I thought: ok maybe a nice little shooter - but the mechanic is really polished and I liked it alot! fantastic entry!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Would you mind telling what you thought of the banner in a bit more detail?  Would be very appreciated if you could! Tried to make it pretty but seems like most people didn't really get what the game was about from it... Even though I have plenty of ratings I had few plays, was in bottom 7 popularity at one point 😅

Text too small? Maybe just looks cheap?

Really nice! The polish is just perfect.

Thanks! Glad you liked my little game :)

Great art, impressive VFX, and the combat slashing feels really good.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I think I remember you from the comments in the ScoreSpace jam somewhere, nice to see you here as well

Submitted(+1)

Yes, I participated in that jam. Nice to see you too.

The game doesn't really match the theme but it is a fun concept. Could see this being a fun rouge like game.

Developer

Thanks! Well, the idea was that it’s a Fruit Ninja-like with a retro arcade-ish style, but tbf, yeah, visually it really looks like neither

Amazing game! Good job!

Thanks for playing!

Really good amount of polish and satisfying to play. Don't have any notes just want to say great job

Developer

Thanks for playing :D

The game is fun, challenging, and engaging. A great idea turned into an enjoyable experience with a simple mechanic. Fantastic work.

Developer

Ty! Glad you enjoyed it, something very easy to pick up but hard to master was exactly what I was going for

Submitted(+1)

It was a simple game, but it turned out well. Good job!

Connection to Theme: 3/5. I don't think it completely follows a retro setting, but fits anyway.

Enjoyment: 5/5. Even though I didn't manage to score that much, the controls are very responsive and I really enjoyed the game.

Presentation: 5/5. Really like the retro shader, minimalistic but polished objects and the glow. Also the music is fire.

Gameplay: 4/5. Great overall, but I wish it had more diversity, like further upgrades, different enemy types or simply more weapons to choose from.

Creativity: 4/5. I think this is a unique approach to Fruit Ninja - type games.

Appreciate the feedback! Thanks for writing all that out, glad you liked it overall. I think it’s more connected to the theme by being a fruit ninja-like game (which has been out for 16 years now apparently?? Didn’t actually know how old it is haha) rather than the retro aspect, but, yeah, I agree, no way an actual retro game could handle so many particles lol. I suppose it’s more of a modern minimalistic game that’s just styled as a retro arcade mostly rather than, like, an actual arcade. Also, 100% agree on the amount of content, didn’t have quite enough time to add everything I wanted to unfortunately, going to release an update after the jam to add some of that in hopefully. No promises on anything too major, a bit too busy right now, but definitely adding a 4th weapon type at the very least. Edit: itch.io seems to be ignoring new lines for me for whatever reason so can’t add paragraphs, sorry for the enormous wall of text 😅

So cool and stylized, reminds me of fruit ninja

Developer

That was one of the main inspirations for it, yeah, loved playing that game! Thanks for playing and rating :)

Developer

Thanks!

This game looks so cool! I love the FX and all of the polish. I can tell from the leaderboards that you kept the weapons well balanced. Great job!

Developer

Ty!! Well, dunno about the balance part, apparently hammer’s getting crazy good scores that I can’t even beat, haha… Feels like no matter how much I balance a game something always slips through 😅 Well, glad you liked it anyway!

Submitted(+1)

The amount of polish in this is actually insane! The weapons were all really fun to experiment with and felt distinct enough from each other to offer unique playstyles. The game feel is also incredible and so satisfying. You did such a great job with this!

This game was so fun to play and you did it solo? That s impressive.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yep, audio was outsourced (credit to the wonderful people who made it is in the description!), but everything else (code and art) is by me, no AI was used :)

Woa this game is intense and sounds awesome too!
The visual/audio and physical feedback all feeds good too... plus you added rogue-like progression/power ups? Ths is so good!

Developer

Thanks! I did actually want to lean more into making a roguelike at first with upgrades that appear once you kill x enemies, but quickly realized that I don’t have many stats to balance and I’d need to add way too much new content to make upgrades actually be any interesting. I couldn’t just buff sword speed and make a new power up out of it or something. So yeah, decided to just leave it at the weapon choice at the start lol
