Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
Creative Vision

Our creative vision springs directly from the game jam's evocative image of two tender hands reaching across a vast blue sky. This symbolizes yearning, connection, and the delicate beauty of unity. We reimagined this as a heartfelt tale of celestial siblings. Sol the Sun Spirit and Luna the Moon Spirit embody light and shadow, warmth and dreams. They remain forever linked yet separated by the sky's expanse. This cutesy, lighthearted co-op adventure celebrates how opposites find wholeness. Outstretched fingers almost touching lead to harmonious embrace. The story culminates in the Eclipse. This creates a glowing moment of perfect balance where neither outshines the other.

Rationale

The image radiates pure, unspoken emotion. Vulnerability shines in reaching out. Hope glows in nearness. Joy sparks in potential union. We crafted a serene world without monsters or conflict. Whimsical challenges like playful shadow wisps gently scatter. Every moment stays cozy and uplifting. The two-player local co-op uses one keyboard. WASD controls Sol. Arrows guide Luna. This mirrors the hands' tension. It fosters intimate teamwork. Players stay close and coordinate precisely. They align to trigger Eclipse phases for puzzle-solving. The Sky Alignment Clock acts as the narrative heart. This fractured celestial mechanism pulses with imbalance. It guides Sol and Luna to descend into fluffy cloud regions. They collect fragments and rediscover their bond through creative light-bending play.

Incorporating the Theme

The theme of reaching hands weaves seamlessly into our local co-op design. Light becomes the player's tool for connection and creativity on a single keyboard. Sol generates warm golden rays. Luna bends and shapes them using silvery shadow magic to solve intricate puzzles. She unlocks gates by refracting beams through crystal prisms. She guides light into focusing lenses to reveal hidden platforms. She curves rays around drifting cloud obstacles. Neither can progress alone. Sol must position close to cast light into Luna's reach. Luna manipulates it with precision. Players huddle together and synchronize movements like fingers nearly touching. Eclipse alignment merges their forms into a single radiant entity. This grants floaty buoyancy and soaring jumps to reach lofty cloud perches or distant ledges. Players skillfully merge and unmerge to uncover hidden nooks. They activate sequential switches and reveal Clock Fragments in layered sky realms. This fluid dance of unity and independence echoes the hands' poignant near-touch. Prolonged merging unlocks elevated paths with sweeping aerial views. Separating allows precise light-bending in tight spaces. Every puzzle turns into a joyful rhythm of togetherness and gentle parting. The one-keyboard intimacy amplifies this. Elbows brush. Laughter bubbles as players time their Eclipse unions. They bounce higher across fluffy expanses or split apart to illuminate dual paths. This transforms the image's quiet longing into lively, heartfelt gameplay. True harmony blooms from knowing when to reach, blend, and reach again

Love the concept of the game. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find someone to play the game with me so I have to finished the game alone. I love the character design and overall art style, especially the little faces on the clouds. The overall gameplay feels smooth and well-designed. The idea of using the light beam from the sun and moon spirits to solve puzzles is extremely clever and very well executed. For the music, I feel this piece perfectly captures the game's theme. It's a shame it doesn't loop in game.

As for potential improvement, I would love to see that the players can also have some active skills as Eclipse, just like the sum beam and moon crystal. Also, the overall difficulty curve of the game feels a bit odd to me. The final level ends up being easier than some of the earlier ones. But of course, this might be because I played it solo.

Overall, it’s a visually charming and smooth-feeling game and congratulations on finish the game with so many levels in such a short period of time.

This was a very fun and charming puzzle game! I really loved the presentation of the main menu and immediately when booting the game, everything felt so professionally done. The music makes me feel warm and safe and the characters and backgrounds are cute and calming.

It took me quite a while to complete the first level (maybe I am just bad at puzzle games) but I didn't notice that I could jump on the clouds so I kept trying to progress but immediately felt stuck. The controls were also a bit confusing at first and it took some experimenting to realize what my characters were capable of doing. It is difficult to fit a tutorial in with such a short deadline but I think it would be helpful to onboard new players and show them a simple example of what each character can do. I would also maybe add some sort of notification to guide the player into understanding what they are capable of doing (maybe the characters will radiate light when near each other, or mirrors on the level will sparkle every few seconds, etc.)

The mechanics were really cool and I think the puzzles were well designed too. I felt so smart after I could complete each level. I had a lot of fun once I got the hang of the controls and overall it was a pleasant experience. Thanks for making this game!

Hey there! Here is my feedback on the game: On the visual side, it is a very simple yet smooth experience, it has good pixel art, maybe a little bit of polish in the jump / merge with some vfx would be nice (although for a game jam is good as it is). The feel itself is great with some good level design, I just wish the merge/unmerge mechanic would have more of a impact, as it stands the merged eclipse is only good for the pink clouds and a higher jump. The UI itself is clean, simple and direct, no overbloating, There is just a small bug on the first level where it shows the eclipse moves wrong. The rest seemed fine to me, a good puzzle platformer with potential. I had fun while playing it and it made me think so it is a good sign. As such congratulations on the project!
