I’ve played it several times to collect everything, it’s really cool. I really like the art style. Great game!
Thank you so much for playing!
Neat game! Very well developed! Seems pretty much ready to ship lol!
Ha! Thank you and thanks for playing!
Unexpectedly, Metroid!
Everything is really cool and great. The only thing I can say (besides the hitboxes, which have already been mentioned) is that I was a bit confused by the jump - you often can't see where it's supposed to land. And I often hit my head on mobs, haha. But maybe this plays into the Gameboy aesthetic and was intended that way?
In any case, this won't affect the rating, the customization in the game is very thematic, I liked it
Thanks for playing. Some things I like to leave a little more to the style, after I make the game I want to make, I then have to adjust it for an audience. A lot of modern players don't appreciate most of the old stuff and the old styles other than the aesthetic. Thanks for the feedback.
Absolute madlad you made a metroidvania for a 2 week jam. Really like the art, sfx, and overall gameplay. Only criticism I have is on the hitboxes for the fists (and it's modified versions with the crystals), they can feel a little off sometimes, like the animation is bigger than the area where enemies can take damage (Though, this isn't really am issue with the gun or sword). Also, love the cheat code! Good stuff!
Thank you and thanks for playing. There were a lot of things I got to a point and just said, "good enough" and moved on. Only some of them I went back to fix. And some things don't reveal themselves until after other people are playing it. Thanks for the feedback.
What a game! The art was amazing and the gameplay polished!
The Cheat code at the end was also very fun to use!
I found it a bit fustrating navigating the pause menu and selecting different items/weapons. Also the hitboxes of my attacks were often small then I expected, which resulted in me getting hit when I feel like I shouldn't have. Other then that and some level design problems like leap of faiths with enemies at the bottom, this is a really strong entry, especially for just 2 weeks of work!!!
Thanks for playing! I'll keep this in mind if/when I continue working on it. There are a lot of things ran out of time for and some things didn't become obvious until watching people play it. Thanks for the feedback.
Okay Pirate, I have always loved your games and your art. They have always been top notch. But for me customization is at the beginning of the game. However saying that, I can see how after getting all the upgrades you can chose which one you want to use. I really want to see what you do next with this!!!
Thanks so much, Hermes3D, and thanks for playing. I knew it was a bit of a risk to do it this way, but this is the game that spoke to me when coming up with ideas based on the theme, but also I am just hoping to be in the top 75% this round.
Extremely well polished entry:)
The customization system was integrated well into the game itself, giving player choices actively during the pause menu. It is simple yet really effective. I love how the game looks and feels as well--the pixel art style was amazing.
One small thing that I would like to point out (which was a nice little addition) was how the player doesn't reset all the progress upon death. It works very well in game jam settings, where people doesn't have much time to rate each game. Thank you!
Great job!
Thank you! And thanks for playing! The death thing, it has been noted, could have been dialed back a little bit with save points and still would have been enjoyable for a jam game.
10/10 I try to turn nearly every jam into a metroidvania but didn’t have time for this one so thank you! Super impressed to have so much customization in the game.
Thanks for playing and thanks so much. I think it's my favorite genre, I enjoy almost all of them.
I forgot to mention I played this through three times. The first time I missed some skills (since I didn’t know the boss would be where it was). Then immediately restarted with the code, then again for 100% legit.
Wow, I'm happy you had so much fun!
I finished the game 🔥🔥 and it was amazing! The character customization tied to progression was fantastic, and the jet was such a great surprise addition. Adding the final boss was really cool though it could use a bit more polish but overall the gameplay felt super smooth and enjoyable.
Awesome, thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I think you have 495 combinations. All around very cool entry! I hadn't though of a metroidvania being a customizer, but after playing this I can see how it is. Great gameplay, great art. As always, you're a force to reckon with!
Yeah, not too many customizations, I didn't have the time to all the ones I wanted to. I haven't done a metroidvania of this size before, I've done a lot of little prototypes, but this was the idea that stuck in my brain while coming up with with different ideas. Thanks for playing!
Very well made, Polished. Graphics and Gameplay both implemented well. Customisation part is also good, feels more like ability unlocks but well fitted in the game.
Thanks so much. I'm glad you had fun playing.
The art for this game is incredible! Love how much you were able to complete with the limited time we had. Great job!
Thanks for playing! That's why I like this Jam,it fits my 1-3 hours a day of time I have to spare letting me get closer to what I want to make.
I had more planned, but life got in the way and I had to cut it. Thanks for playing!
My preferred loadout (not sure if I missed anything, but force all the way over the gun). Felt like a nice progression over a short period of time, good execution of the theme while still making it easy to see the variety of cusotmizeables.
Thanks for playing! There's also a sword pickup, or you can use the secret to get all the equipment.
I like using the shadow armor for stealthing and the shadow punch to move through the walls for exploring. But for the boss I like the sword with the gravity gem because it's the strongest with a little more range than the punch.
This is top notch for sure, holy cow. Amazing art style and progression, had a lot of fun playing!
Thank for playing and thanks very much!
Really love the art style! Such an in depth and polished game for such a short time!
Thank you and thanks for playing!
WOW! This was so much fun. At first I thought that this couldnt have that many customizations, but I was wrong, each one felt really different from the other ones, and the artifacs give more layers to everything. Really good job!
Thank you! I tried to make the customizations unique and give the player actual choices in them. I planned to have a third gem and also an artifact that would allow you to activate up to two gems per item.I also had plans for some helmet modifications. I had to cut a lot because it was too much, but I have plans. Thanks for playing!
Clearly a metroid fan. this felt nostalgic. there was even a boss in it.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, Metroid is one of my favorites.
amazing style and world, the SFX are always on point. My favourite part had to be the menu, with the idle animations.
Thank you for a great game! Was fun to play live!

EDIT: I just saw another game stream, OMG I missed so much stuff! The ending was super cool (and the secret)
Thanks for playing! Ha, I saw, no worries. I spent a lot of time making the character, it had 4 layers with all but the helmet having 3-4 variations to handle the customizations. I really wanted the pause/config menu to be as cool as like the Super Metroid one. So I appreciate that you liked it.
Oh yeah, and you were right about it being in the same universe, at least there was a little story written, but I didn't have time to implement it into the game.
(Those who know a DevPirate game, know 👌)
also, those visual pickup effects are so so cool! Even with such a limited palette 🎨 they really shone and splashed
Great art style! and well fleshed out game for a game jam quite impressive! had lots of fun playing! Amazing Job!:)
Thank you! I have started to lean towards making the whole little experience even when it's not required. It's what works for me when making a game. Thanks for playing!
