I also had issues with controlling the character. Arrow keys, space, and left shift were a bit awkward for me, so I wasn't able to finish the game. Loved the art style and music though.

Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We tried to focus on the gap between the hands in the image as our theme, symbolizing the relationship between Ica and their guardian. It is left intentionally open ended so it can be read multiple ways -- that of a guardian figure leaving Ica, or Ica being abandoned because of unmet expectations.
In any case, what remains at the end are the relationships Ica built with the townspeople by helping them. They are the friends who will comfort him, be there for him, and help him move on.

Phenomenal presentation! Felt like it really naturally taught that you can jump mid-air with the first obstacle after grandpa leaves your reach, which is awesome! I didn't find things too difficult as long as I kept that in mind, although I did not realize there was a glide ability and i missed the snake villager. Once I got double jump I also wasn't able to finish cause I didn't know about the glide to follow grandpa. Art and music are great, pretty polished overall, and a nice touching story! Y'all did great!
Well made. The art and the music are satisfying. Characters are cute, and the transition of music when climbing out of the cave felt really cozy. The level design requires some refinement, as the colliders of hazards are not very clear, and the jumping height for the player is inconsistent.
This is INCREDIBLE!! Seriously, what an excellent vibe! The art and music is just amazing, I'm amazed at how detailed the art is and how much of it there is, the color palette is so nice, especially the characters and how they stand out! It was especially cool that there was a second music track towards the end! In terms of gameplay things were a little rough, partially due to me not having read the glide mechanic though, I do think there should of been some in game text to teach you it. I also encountered all the bugs mentioned in the page multiple times and having to reset the game but you know what, it just meant I got re experience peak over and over so I was not complaining. I like how the firefly particles point you in the right direction however I never actually found the third villager despite that and just got two sparks by repeating a villager quest. Also I was able to double jump once I only had three sparks. That ending sequence where you glide over the massive gap was so cool too! Such an excellent game! I'm still amazed at the quality of the art and music, I could easily spend hours on a full game like this! Also this being a custom engine too is super impressive! Awesome work to the whole team!
I missed the snake, I tried to look around more but ended up using the walkthrough video, I definitely wouldn't of found it myself lol. I really loved how it played music too, it's little stuff like that, that makes games so cool! I gotta say again how much I love the music in general, if it's actual playing or just placing notes in a DAW it's really beautiful!
Really cute art style and nice chill piano music! Whats the soundcloud of the artist?
A bit counter intuitive gameplay but it didn't disturb the experience too much. I would suggest adding some popups on screen for the controls, since I did not know I could glide at first. Even after reading the controls below some of the platforming in the first part is a bit frustratingly difficult, the difficulty could ramp up a bit smoother. I kinda just want to go up and enjoy the beautiful drawings! :)
Very pretty visuals! but i also find the jumping to be very challenging...im not sure if this is what u wanna go for tho. also it'd be nice to enable fullscreen option on itch because when I press arrow keys it scrolls up the itch page. The file for download seems to be the file for web build instead of win ( which im assuming thats what u wanted?)
hah yeah some of the jumps are tricky! hitting up on the arrow keys doesn't do much in-game, you should be able to play through fine w/o hitting up / down (the jump is only tied to the space key!) && yeaaaah we sent the wrong .exe in the zip... that's on us... but we can't fix it now 😅😅 post voting we'll reupload the proper one
