Really solid submission! Game looks nice and it's polished.

Gameplay at first is not that clear because I thought I should protect customers but with second run I realized that is way of serving them not killing :D

I lika game loop is pretty unique tower defense in classic Mario perspective. That music on 20 level is so cool!

I didn't reach 60 level, at some point game is not scaling anymore so I couldn't find anything that could motivate me to push forward, probably here could just limit level cap or think how to scale it.

Congratulations on your first submission! Waiting for more!

Forgot to say art is pretty great, good job for artists!

A visually well done entry.

I found the gameplay a bit confusing at first, i thought the mail post turret was meant to be on the enemies path until i realized that it was throwing projectile and thus could be put on floating platforms. After a few waves you get the gist of it though. Maybe this is in part due to the game's speed, since enemies move quite fast i didn't notice the projectile travelling toward them and thought the damage was done in melee.

All in all it's a pretty good entry. Good job.

This was a nice Mario homage. I liked the art style and music/sound design. I've never seen a side-scroller tower defense before.

The gameplay was confusing. I didn't realize the first level was a tutorial level, so my first playthrough I had no idea what was going on. My second playthrough, I ended up placing everything on the top level and then not realizing the people all came on the bottom. My third reset, I did better, but I had no idea what anything I was placing did. It would have been nice to see item descriptions.

Overall it was a very professional-looking game. I just found it difficult to play.

thank you for the feedback! while i can see why this could be a little frustrating, it’s a common trope in tower defense games to be thrown off-guard by a new type of enemy and failing, then learning what to do for the next run. this was definitely not made very clear, and the game not telling you what each of the towers did definitely made this more frustrating, so we’ll keep your feedback in mind for if we update the game.

This is oozing with style, I love all the art and music. Game comes across as super polished for something made in 9 days. I'm really impressed.

Nice work.

thank you so much!

Really in-depth game with a nice art style and nice retro music. It felt a bit complex, maybe you could explain the mechanics one by one so you don't get overwhelmed. But overall it felt really polished and really unique!

Developer(+1)

thank you! yeah the game definitely could have used more easing in terms of introducing the concepts, but given the time limitations im afraid we just couldnt do that. im glad you enjoyed the game!

Loved the art and the music (although Rick Astley is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day now)

The tutorial at the start felt like a bit much to take in, especially for a game jam, but apart from that it was a good game.  Great work guys!

Developer(+1)

thank you! it was either not make a tutorial or make a bit of a wordy tutorial, so we decided to err on the side of caution. either way, im glad you enjoyed our game!

This was an interesting tower defense with platforming. Overall it worked, but I don't think the killer robots were needed. They felt more of an annoyance that didn't really add anything, other than maybe forcing an occasional character change. The basic gameplay loop is pretty simple and largely classic tower defense. The platforming to place them, and use some abilities, worked decently well. The tower placement could be frustrating early game when you run out of resources and have to wait for more, but if the panel is shown it does not update when a tower becomes available, so you have to close it and keep opening it until there is a tower to build. Eventually you may learn the towers and their requirements, but at the start you won't, and there may be other towers you haven't seen yet. It would also be nice to have a bit more info on each tower, such as any special abilities or limits.  There are some interesting towers, and may be more I did not get to yet. I played through wave 20 to see the boss wave.

Developer(+2)

thank you for the review! imo i think it’s nice to leave the mystery of a tower’s use up to the player to figure out, but quite a few people have echoed the sentiment that they’d like to know what each tower does beforehand, so you’re not alone here.

Submitted(+1)

Perhaps make it a setting. Those who want the info can turn it on, but you can also have it off by default. It can be nice to experiment, but it is also nice to verify if you are right or missed anything, perhaps turning it on for a later play.

This is a very fun take on tower defence, but I would like to see the difficulty ramped up a bit,  since I spammed a ton of post boxes in one spot, and no one has made it past.

Developer(+1)

thank you for the review! yeah i agree the game is a bit too easy. we didnt have enough time to balance it properly, and decided to lean easier rather than harder. if you want a bit more of a challenge, try getting all achievements!

Very fun! I like the different mailmen you can have (Marius is my favorite), and I like how it has a in game explanation for why you are swapping on death. And I very much enjoyed the music! even though I did get rickroll'd every death lol.

Developer(+1)

haha thank you my favorite is Oarius the Vailman

I think I hit a bug where the wave keeps starting over because I am "removing" the customers faster than they spawn on screen. It gives me the victory noise but the wave restarts.

Anyways the game is fun. 60 waves seems like a lot. Also for the first stage and due to the fact I can stack the builds it becomes a game of just placing everything in one spot just spamming it. Other than me optimizing the fun out of the game. You all did great on the graphics, sound design, menus, and achievements. I really loved the rainbow text effect! There seems to be only a couple characters I found me preferring over others. Specifically 25% more parts and Repairing towers.

Developer(+2)

thank you! yeah that bug is annoying. to anyone reading the review before playing the game: maybe avoid placing towers right next to the spawn.

other than that, thank you for the honest review!

I hope to see a lot more games from you all!
